3 reasons you have relationship anxiety, even when things are good

For some people, even stability in a relationship can feel suspicious: You’re not fighting. Objectively, things seem to be going well. And yet your mind can’t help but scan for signs that your SO is losing interest; that you’ve missed a red flag; that a breakup is looming.. Constant worrying that’s meant to shield you from heartbreak is draining you, sure—but it can do even greater damage too. “Ironically, the more someone tries to ‘protect’ their relationship with hypervigilance, the more stress and miscommunication they may create,” says Melina Alden, a Santa Monica–based therapist. In practice, that might look like repeatedly seeking reassurance (“Are you sure we’re okay?” “You aren’t going to leave me?”), overanalysing normal shifts in mood or clinging onto them in ways that’ll only push them farther away—and reinforce the very abandonment fears you were trying to prevent.. Relationship anxiety isn’t always neediness or irrationality, nor is it something to be embarrassed about. According to Alden, it’s usually your brain’s attempt at self-protection. Here are a few reasons it happens, plus strategies to help you trust what’s in front of you.. 1. Past relationship trauma. If you’ve been cheated on, ghosted or dumped suddenly when things seemingly were fine, it makes sense that you might struggle to fully trust a new partner. In these cases, “your brain may have learned to ‘expect’ danger or rejection,” Alden says, “so even neutral situations trigger relationship anxiety.”. 2. General catastrophising. Some people are naturally prone to anxiety and overthinking everything—like a work typo, or a throwaway joke that now feels catastrophic. Unfortunately, their love lives aren’t immune. “They may have a cognitive bias toward worst-case scenarios, and their minds jump from small uncertainties like, “They didn’t call back,” to massive conclusions like, “Oh, they must be losing interest,’” Alden says. Reassurance can provide temporary relief, but unless those underlying patterns of general rumination are addressed, the cycle of spiralling will only continue.. 3. Fear of vulnerability. Trusting someone with your heart is inherently risky. After all, there’s always the possibility that your partner could walk away, no matter what you do “right.” “That vulnerability can trigger an underlying fear—like ‘If I let myself feel secure, I’ll be hurt,’” Alden says. That paranoia can make it feel like you’re staying one step ahead of pain, but on the flip side, you also risk creating tension when there wasn’t any to begin with.. To prevent one intrusive thought from snowballing into a questioning of your entire relationship, Alden recommends pausing and reality-checking yourself with a few grounding questions. If you’re convinced your significant other will dump you because they answer a text late: “Do I have evidence that something is wrong?” Or when they se

Suhana Khan’s Anamika Khanna lehenga pairs pastel panels with floral embroidery

Suhana Khan made her way to the wedding ceremony of Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok in Mumbai on Thursday alongside her parents, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. For the occasion, the actor chose a romantic pastel lehenga by Anamika Khanna.. The look leaned entirely into spring-summer’s most covetable language: a pastel palette and an abundance of florals. At weddings where maximalism is often the dress code, her look took the season-appropriate approach of choosing something fun and fresh over heavy opulence. The lehenga set comprised a cap-sleeved blouse with a sweetheart neckline paired with a voluminous, floor-sweeping skirt and a wispy dupatta. The skirt featured alternating panels of kalis in shades of blush pink and mint green, which create a subtle contrast and visual intrigue.. Embroidery played a pivotal part in bringing the ensemble to life. The entire lehenga was doused in thread embroidery that rendered delicate florals and foliage motifs across the surface in a painterly arrangement. The placement of the motifs allowed the skirt to feel richly detailed without appearing dense. Injecting contrast and an ethereal movement to the blush lehenga was a butter yellow organza dupatta. The pop of colour broke the pink monotony and was draped loosely over one shoulder. Along with the same thread embroidery on the lehenga, the dupatta was punctuated with rich zardozi work.. Ami Patel styled the look with a multi-hued gemstone necklace and matching drop earrings. Her makeup was minimal, featuring a dewy base and rose pink hues on the eyes and lips. Her blow-dried hair was styled into soft curls in a half-up-half-down style and finished with a small bouquet of fresh flowers.

Why menopause can happen earlier than planned

Most women place menopause far back in their minds, somewhere in their fifties. But for many, this chapter actually begins earlier: around 5% of women enter early menopause between the ages of 40 and 45. Around 1% even experience a premature menopause before the age of 40. Under 30, it is rare, but not impossible, at around 0.1%.. In medical terms, we speak of an early menopause when the last menstruation cycle occurs before the age of 45, explains Dr Dascha Berek, a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics. If this happens before the age of 40, it is called premature ovarian failure. It affects around one percent of women under 40 and is much rarer in women under 30. Nevertheless, according to Dr Berek, it raises many questions.. Symptoms of an early menopause. The problem is that an early menopause is rarely recognised immediately by doctors; instead, the symptoms are often classified differently or not taken seriously at all. What makes it even more difficult is that the symptoms do not match the image of the menopause that people have in their heads. In younger women in particular, hormonal changes often do not manifest themselves in the classic way, but rather through cycle irregularities, shortened or prolonged cycles, sleep disorders or inner restlessness. All of this is “often initially attributed to stress, psychological strain or lifestyle”, says Berek. Depressive moods, concentration problems, loss of libido or unusual exhaustion also fall into this pattern. However, the symptom most commonly associated with menopause, hot flushes, is often completely absent in the beginning. It is precisely this that leads to hormonal changes remaining unrecognized for a long time. “Many people notice the change in their own wellbeing very clearly, but don’t associate it with menopause,” says the doctor.. When you should take a closer look. There are warning signs that you should definitely take a closer look: “Repeatedly elevated FSH levels, a significant drop in AMH or persistent cycle disorders should be taken seriously,” she says. The same applies to missing your period for several months. According to Dr Berek, even PMS can be a sign of approaching menopause. “The earlier hormonal changes are recognized, the better symptoms can be alleviated and long-term health consequences mitigated.”. Can early menopause be prevented?. Many women wonder whether an early menopause can be stopped or at least delayed. Dr Berek is realistic about this: “Honesty is crucial here. The natural decline in ovarian function cannot be reversed.” Instead of trying to stop the process, it is much more about accompanying it well. Medical care can reduce the consequences of hormonal changes and alleviate symptoms in a targeted manner. For many women, individually tailored hormone replacement therapy can not only alleviate symptoms, but also protect against osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and cognitive changes, says Dr Berek and is often expressly recommended for very you

Sanya Malhotra’s flower-adorned hair and Aneet Padda’s soft-focus skin were the stars of this week’s best beauty looks

While many celebrities opted for fresh, glowing complexions and classic glam this last week, the standout details came from seemingly small finishing touches, like Sanya Malhotra’s floral hair ornamentation and Neha Dhupia’s slick bun with roses tucked into it, that might have been an afterthought, but made the entire look unforgettable. Together with a mix of radiant skin, bold colours and soft romantic glam, the overall mood this week felt joyous and refreshing.. Sanya Malhotra’s look this week channeled classic Indian glamour with a playful, romantic detail. Her base is minimal with a soft satin finish foundation and a hint of warm pink blush across the cheeks. The eyes are the focal point lined generously with deep black kohl along the upper and lower lash lines, creating a sharp, smoky effect with naturally full brows framing the look. Her lips wore a rose-brown tone, but the standout detail is her slicked back bun adorned with delicate, exotic flowers.. Leaning into bold, red-carpet glamour Radhika Madan went for subtle contouring that sculpted the cheekbones. A warm terracotta blush added dimension, while keeping the complexion balanced. The eyes featured outward blended neutral shadows and a precise black liner hugging the lash line. Voluminous lashes lifted the gaze, while her lips sported a coral shade with cool brown undertones.. Aneet Padda kept things soft and romantic with her signature minimal makeup. Her skin looked fresh with a sheer base and delicate champagne highlight on the cheekbones. A hint of peachy blush added colour. The eyes had a wash of taupe eyeshadow and lengthened lashes. Lightly brushed brows maintained a natural finish. Glossy nude-pink lips completed the look.. Delivering effortless Bollywood glam, Triptii Dimri’s contoured cheekbones and warm coral blush worked beautifull together. The eyes featured a classic eyeliner and thick lashes. Full brows frame the face, while glossy rose-brown lips add oomph. Her voluminous, softly curled hair gives the entire look movement.. Bringing the best of elegant, festive beauty was Sreeleela’s velvety base with gentle contouring and a rosy flush across the cheeks. The eyes feature a delicate winged liner paired with metallic grey eyeshadow and fluttery lashes. A peachy nude lip ties the look together while keeping the overall vibe soft.. Neha Dhupia’s monotone makeup featured subtle sculpting and bronze highlighter for warmth. The eyes were left bare for the most part, allowing the dewy skin to do all the talking. Lightly volumised lashes kept the look clean and her lips were finished in a mocha brown shade. The defining detail was her sleek low bun with a sharp side part, adorned with red roses. An elevated, traditional take on the ‘clean girl’ makeup trend.

In 2026, female athletes no longer have to choose between sports and style

In 1936, American sportswriter Paul Gallico declared that female athletes “should never, never go all out so that they breathe hard and audibly and get moustaches of perspiration on their upper lips.” According to him, it was “a lady’s business to look beautiful. There are hardly any sports in which she seems to be able to do this.” At the time, women who played sports were not taken seriously, evaluated not on performance but on presentation. If a woman’s job was to ‘look beautiful’, how could she possibly play well? It must be impossible to do both.. Aurelien Meunier/Getty Images. 82 years later, when Serena Williams wore a custom-made black catsuit by Nike at the French Open in 2018, her choice of attire generated much outrage. The athlete went on to win her first grand slam match after giving birth, but the catsuit? It was banned. “You have to respect the game and the place,” said Bernard Giudicelli, president of the French Tennis Federation at the time.. The relationship between female athletes and fashion is complicated, which is surprising because when it comes to male athletes and fashion, there’s not all that much to say. Of course, it’s almost always the women whose bodies and choices are being policed. In 2005, Sania Mirza became the first Indian woman to win a WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Tour title, but every headline mentioned the fatwa that had been issued against her for wearing a skirt and a T-shirt—not unusual to wear while playing racquet sports. With so much scrutiny around what female athletes wear, it’s no wonder that many have kept fashion at arm’s length. To embrace it was to risk not being taken seriously. For years, seriousness meant being more masculine, more pared back, more focused—not distracted by the frivolity that is fashion.

Horoscope Today: March 8, 2026

This mindset that you have been tuning into—-one that feels abundant, nurturing and almost like ‘I-know-the-universe-has-my-back’ is working for you, Virgo. New opportunities on the love and work front are arriving and although these may feel like opportunities that need you to take one day at a time, they are teaching you the importance of balance and recuperation. If you have been busy giving, you are also learning to receive and vice versa. Take on these opportunities because you are ready for them.. Cosmic tip: Take your time to heal, but also remember to let go.. What if you don’t really have much to lose, Libra? And what if you are only obsessing over something that is not even a threat? Your life is pretty sorted at least in the moment for most parts, and what feels a little resistant has a simple solution—go out there and explore new horizons for the sake of it, because you feel like it. This may look like going for a walk and noticing something that feels like a cosmic cue, or simply basking in the sun feeling fully present in your body or helping a stranger cross the road or taking up a hobby or anything else you may like. You are not trapped. You may simply be too used to jumping over hurdles and you may be noticing them in your path out of habit.. Cosmic tip: Your plans may need revision, not cancellation.. You may be in a traditional set up or a protocol based setting, Scorpio. And although you may feel like this is a long, arduous and tiring journey, your angels remind you that perhaps in this regard, you have forgotten how to use your humour and wit. When you make allowances, find the humour in the situation—this will help you truly release things from your energy field instead of unknowingly carrying their burden along the road. Embrace the changes unfolding in your path and you will be fine.. Cosmic tip: Stand up for what you believe in, but pick your battles wisely.. The end of a tough cycle approaches. This may have felt like a pattern you have been struggling to emerge from or a hiccup in your bigger plans, Sag. And now that you are moving on, or in some cases, making your moves, remember to not stay too focused on the spilled milk. As long as you decide to care for your glass, you can get refills along the journey of your life. More importantly, this is your time to realise how your prayers have been answered in the most unexpected ways, and be grateful for it.
