NEWYou can now hear Fox News articles. The “8647” slogan made famous by former FBI director James Comey appeared on signs at several May Day protests. Photos captured by Fox News Digital from New York City and Los Angeles show several demonstrators holding signs that read “8647,” including one that said, “86 the entire regime.” Comey was indicted by the Justice Department this week, and it appears that charges are related to his Instagram photo from May 2025 of an “8647” shell formation on a sandy beach. In service industry slang, to “86”, something is to eject, delete or get rid of. James Comey has been indicted again in a new Justice Department probe. According to the indictment, Comey is accused of “knowingly and willingly making a death threat or inflicting bodily harm on the President of the United States, and knowingly, willfully transmitting an interstate and international communication that contained a threatened to kill President Donald Trump.” The DOJ announced Tuesday that both charges carry a maximum of 10 years in prison. The DOJ’s move comes after a wave criticism from Republicans and Trump Administration officials who saw Comey’s posting as a veiled threats. May Day Strong, the main organizer of the Friday demonstrations, described the demonstrators as “workers and families” who rallied, marched and took action “across America to demand a country that puts workers above billionaires. Many refused business as usual by refusing No School. No Work. No Shopping. “MAY DAY Demonstrations Draw Thousands Across The USMay Day’s origins date back to the 19th Century, when Marxists and socialists, along with labor unions, called for a strike in Paris. It later became a holiday in the Soviet Union following the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. The protest began as a way to protect worker’s rights, but the labor unions’ big-money political activities today give it a partisan bent that is very much focused on anti-Trump language, critics claim. Fox News Digital found that approximately 600 groups with an active revenue of $2 billion were slated to hold an estimated 6,000 events for pro-socialist May Day protests on Friday. Comey’s May 20,25 Instagram post featured the numbers “8647” arranged as shells on a sandy beach. Later, it was deleted.
