5 ’90s trouser trends to supercharge your wardrobe in 2026

We’ve always loved the ’90s – but, in 2026, we really love the ’90s. Blame Ryan Murphy’s Love Story for introducing a new generation to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, or simply an even more fervent nostalgia for an era of no smart phones and more affordable apartments. And, as ever, it’s affecting the way we dress. From the clean-lined silhouettes that defined peak ’90s minimalism, to a fresh affection for the era’s accessories – like head bands, silk scarves and plain hoops – fashion’s most low-key yet copycatted decade is back at the forefront of the conversation.. You’ve got a pair of strappy heels or block boots – but what else to wear on your bottom half? Below, five ’90s-inspired trouser trends we’ll be wearing in rotation this year.. Ron Galella, Ltd./Getty Images. Capri pants, which had a moment in the 1950s and ’60s, and then again in the late ’90s and early 2000s, are one of those weird garments that shouldn’t work but somehow just do – especially with a little low-rise heel and a spaghetti strap top. They were all over the spring/summer 2026 runways (see: Versace, Ralph Lauren and Isabel Marant), and are beloved by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, too.. The 5 fragrance trends that will define 2026, according to experts

As with all things in beauty and fashion, fragrance trends tend to move in cycles. Still, certain themes or in the case of scent, notes, begin to surface each year, quietly setting the tone for what people will be reaching for next. For perfume in 2026, the shift isn’t just about which aromas are trending, but how people are approaching perfume altogether. As Nordstrom beauty director Autumne West describes, the idea of committing to a single signature scent is starting to feel less relevant.. “There’s a real spirit of play right now,” Autumne West is the beauty director of Nordstrom tells Vogue. “People are more open than ever to exploring, layering and treating fragrance like an accessory they can shift with mood, moment or season. Consumers are still loyal to their favourites, but there’s a new willingness to discover.”. The result is what West cheekily refers to as a ‘fragrance wardrobe,’ a rotating mix of scents chosen the same way you might pick an outfit. Some days call for something polished and familiar; others invite experimentation. One clear example is the resurgence of body mists, which have moved well beyond their perhaps juvenile reputation. Today’s versions are more grown-up and even serve as part of a broader body care ritual, often used to layer and customise scent for a more personal DIY profile.. That said, there are some standout notes West sees having a moment in the market; their rise happening at the same time that shoppers are venturing far beyond the traditional designer fragrance aisle. A growing curiosity around niche and independent perfume houses is introducing consumers to smaller brands, unusual notes and entirely new ways of thinking about scent. “What feels especially exciting right now is the evolution of fruity notes, blended for results that are sophisticated and genuinely refreshing,” West adds. Another star? Matcha—for those that love their morning beverage so much, they want to smell like it too.. All this and more below, as we take a deep dive into the top five fragrance trends to keep a watch on in 2026, according to experts.. “Fruit has been the unexpected standout this season, but in a very new way,” West says. “These aren’t the nostalgic body spray styles many of us grew up with. They’re inviting, sensual blends that feel intentional and grown. There’s a tension of juicy brightness against depth and warmth that makes these fragrances incredibly compelling.”. Rather than sugary simplicity, today’s fruity scents lean layered and nuanced. West points to notes like cherry, peach and citrus appearing in recent launches, such as the fruity floral offering from Amouage. Elsewhere, Parfums de Marly’s newest scent leans crisp and luminous thanks to yuzu, while Tom Ford Beauty’s aptly named Figue Érotique explores fruit from a darker angle: sensual, slightly moody and unmistakably decadent.. Athiya Shetty brings tie-dye into ceremonial dressing with a rani pink Heena Kochhar set

Athiya Shetty gives tie-dye an occasionwear spin in Heena Kochhar. She chose a rani pink choga and salwar set from the label, turning a technique more often seen in laidback summer wardrobes into something that feels right at home at festive gatherings and intimate celebrations.. The hero element of her ensemble is the choga-style kurta. Traditionally worn across Central and South Asia, the choga is a loose, long-sleeved overlayer prized for both comfort and form. Here, Kochhar reworks it in rani weave tissue and tie-dye Chanderi, where the fabric’s luminosity intensifies the saturated pink. It is paired with a rani pink and yellow tie-dye silk-linen salwar and a yellow weave tissue dupatta that lifts the palette.. What gives the set its festive heft is the handwork. The yoke is generously embroidered with zari, dori, aari and sitara, creating a rich, jewellery-like focal point. Embellished cuffs mirror that detailing, carrying the same decorative language through the sleeves. The salwar is not treated as an afterthought either. The rani pink and yellow tie-dye silk linen carries the same work down to nearly the knees, giving the lower half enough presence to hold its own against the ornate kurta.. Tie-dye, whether in the form of bandhani or leheriya, has long been synonymous with summer wardrobes in India, usually seen in airy cotton kurtas and easy dresses. Kochhar’s interpretation creates a compelling shift in this context. By combining tie-dye with luxe fabrics and detailed handwork, the set moves beyond daywear into ceremonial territory. It carries the breeziness essential for warm-weather months and also offers the richness expected of festive dressing. Shetty accessorised with a pair of gemstone earrings from Amrapali Jewels, a gold clutch from Meera Mahadevia and Needledust juttis.

Maybe we all need to have slightly mean moms

As a former nanny who now regularly babysits in my spare time, I do my best to stay up on the parenting discourse, and one topic that surfaces time and time again is gentle parenting—its merits as well as its drawbacks. I’m not a parent myself, so my scepticism about the movement’s approach to punishment (avoiding it) should definitely be taken with a grain of salt. But personally, I can’t think of anything that’s enriched me or prepared me for the so-called “real world” more than having an ever-so-slightly mean mom.. To be clear, there’s a major difference between being mean and being unkind; my mom has been deeply and unfailingly kind since the day I was born, celebrating my wins and always making time to handle my various woes and crises, whether it was spraining my finger rollerblading at age eight or being dumped via text at age 28. She’s a tough crowd, though, and always has been—she herself being the daughter of an Italian and Russian-Jewish mother who grew up in hiding in a Catholic orphanage in Rome, and raised her four kids never to feel too good or confident about themselves.. If you’ve ever met my mom at a cocktail party—not impossible, since she’s worked in journalism since long before I was born and co-founded the publication Air Mail with Graydon Carter in 2019—and complimented anything about me, you’ve likely been met with an eye-roll and a quick, cutting comment about my flaws. My mom believes it’s the height of bad taste to brag too publicly about your children’s successes. Did that used to hurt my feelings? Sure—until I recognised it as a kind of self-deprecation by proxy. She viewed me as an extension of herself, and she would never accept plaudits for her own accomplishments with anything other than a witty dismissal and a follow-up question about whoever it was lobbing praise her way. (And besides, I have a Jewish dad who’s all too happy to brag about me at parties, so I feel covered in both directions.). My mother was no Tiger Mom during my childhood; she never came down hard on me about my grades (a good thing, too, given my series of academic flops) and was pretty lax about household chores (to this day, I don’t own a vacuum…red flag, I know). But the way I comported myself was extremely important to her, and she let me know it. She wasn’t an Emily Gilmore clone obsessed with cotillion-perfect manners, but for as long as I can remember, she emphasised the importance of listening and drawing other people out, telling me, “Always talk to the person who’s standing alone at the party.”. When I was a teenager, I grumbled about my mom’s weird habits and rules, unclear on why my friends’ mothers doled out empty praise and Oreos while my own was more likely to cock an eyebrow at my outfit and say something mildly devastating (but very funny) as I walked out the door, a glass of white wine in her hand. I would get annoyed about her insistence on politesse, wanting desperately t
