We feel that now we’ve been living with Peter Parker’s latest adventure for several days, it is time to answer some of the questions we still have. We’ve compiled a list of all the questions we still have after watching Spider-Man Brand New Day. While it isn’t all spoilers it does contain a large number of them. If you still haven’t paid your $15, this is your last warning.
Peter makes money by…
Peter Parker lived with his aunt in high-school, and it made perfect sense that there was food and a roof above his head. Now that high school has ended, Aunt May’s gone and no one recognizes him, he finds himself in a very difficult situation. Peter has a nice apartment with all kinds of cool tech. Was there money left in Aunt May’s will? Is he paid a stipend for being an Avengers? What gives? He’s not working for The Daily Bugle.
What is happening on Staten Island
In Brand New Day we are told that Peter saved Frank in Staten Island. This becomes an issue between the two. We never find out what exactly happened or with who. It doesn’t really matter, as the relationship between them has been a healthy one, but it’s still intriguing.
What year was the Aunt May Scene?
Jean keeps seeing Aunt May on Peter’s bed when she enters Peter’s head. This feels like more of a nightmare or fantasy. This is a moment in which May’s insight and significance for Peter are embodied. The bag Tony Stark placed Peter’s suit into is also there, which makes us wonder: Is that a real memory? If so, was it immediately after Peter and May met at the end Homecoming?
What was the first thing Jean Grey did when she found Peter?
No one knows who Spider-Man is. Jean Grey shows up in his home at some point and claims that finding him was not difficult for her. Other than that, there’s nothing else to explain. Did she follow him in some way? It’s just convenient to write? Was a scene deleted? No, we don’t.
What was Jean’s relationship with MJ prior to Peter?
This one I’m sure I know the answer to. Jean and Peter race from MJ to MJ after Jean has found Peter. Jean wins the race. At a certain time, however, it appears that Peter won, because in the helicopter he uses to trap Jean, he is outside her jumping range. If you recall when Jean’s older sister Sara explained the powers, Sara said that at any time you could go back to where you started. We think Jean fled the plane, returned to where her body lay, then took off from there.
What happens to Jean Grey at the end of her life?
Jean is seen on the bus leaving the city after Peter has been saved. There is no destination for the bus, which drives through beautiful autumn foliage. It doesn’t have to, since we will see her in another movie. But the fall foliage makes us think of upstate New York. Westchester, perhaps? What is the name of Professor X’s school?
What happened to Jean’s sister and Jean?
It’s interesting that Jean and Sara both had mutant powers. It’s implied in the film that they mutated as kids and acquired their powers. Did they have them from birth? What happened? What happened? What was the cause? What was the DNA that made this possible? This is a topic that’s not clear if it’s relevant, but worth discussing.
What do Ned and MJ recall now?
Brand New Day ends with MJ, Ned and Peter slowly reintegrating. MJ discovers the letter he sent. Ned discovers that the “Peter”, who he has an accidental handshake with, is Spider-Man. Does any old memory come back to them? There’s nothing to prove it and we don’t believe so, but there is always the possibility.
What became of Ezra Bridger
Of course, he’s still stuck with Thrawn. Eman Esfandi is the actor that plays Ezra Bridger, but also MJ’s boyfriend in Brand New Day. MJ says that she never tells him where she’s at because he would just ask her a lot of questions. But after the one encounter, he doesn’t really show up anymore. This Peter dude seems to care more about MJ. So…
Peter and MJ to get back together again?
Brand New Day shows that even though MJ may be flattered by Peter’s flattery, she does not want to be with Peter. Does that mean she is completely against getting to know Peter again? Yes, we think so. You would be a bit weird if you started dating someone that knew everything about you and you didn’t know anything about them. But never say never.
What time is it on the MCU Timeline?
Punisher is living an average life by Punisher’s standards. Yelena is leading the New Avengers, but she doesn’t use their huge building for an office. The Hulk has a day job, and shows no signs of active injury. It’s true that No Way Home was released four years ago, but this is hard to tell where the story takes place in relation to Daredevil and Fantastic Four. What’s the easiest way to say it? After everything else.
How long does it take for Hulk’s wounds to heal after he wears the Infinity Gauntlet?
The last time we saw Hulk in action (he appeared with his son She-Hulk, remember? ), he helped Shang-Chi unravel the mysteries surrounding the Ten Rings. The Infinity Gauntlet had injured his arm and he needed time to heal. It’s clear that it has healed, but it is still unclear how long it took.
What is next for Hulk, Punisher and the rest of the Marvel Universe?
In Brand New Day, both Hulk as well Punisher reflect Peter. The first is to illustrate what it’s like for a superhero without meaningful human interaction. One is to demonstrate how difficult it can be to master new powers. Each is also an important piece of the MCU’s overall tapestry, but neither have been confirmed to appear in anything else. We’re curious as to where each will pop up in the near future. X-Men? Secret Wars? We’ll see.
What future consequences will Peter’s inhibitor chip have?
Mutants are the focus of the MCU’s future. Peter Parker creates something similar in Brand New Day. It seems like this technology could, in the wrong hands be detrimental to an upcoming mutant team. This is something that a few characters in the film mention, so this thread must be important.
Why is the last scene of credits so strange?
At the end of the film’s credits we can see Ned’s Spidey Tracker tracking Spider-Man in outer space. Tom Holland is this Spider-Man, do we not? If so, then who will be taking him to space? Who are the New Avengers? Were we going to see it in Doomsday, or Secret Wars? We’ll get an answer to this one sooner than most.
Damage Control has a new machine. What is it?
Metzger says that Sara Grey left behind the Damage Control machine that tracks a telepath’s abilities. The pair spent years developing and working on this project. We see him using it for Jean. We have so many more questions. Was there anything they achieved with Sara, if any? Is the machine able to produce results? Does the fact that it has some strange echoes to Cerebro suggest that Professor X might adopt this machine eventually?
Where did Metzger go?
Metzger escapes after being captured by Jean Grey. Metzger seems harmless on his own. But we are curious if he could pose problems to Spidey if he is out there.
Spider-Man will first seek assistance from whom?
Peter has a big revelation about himself at the end Brand New Day. He’s not going to remain a loner. Peter will make new friends and seek help. This is evident in the way he interacts with Ned. But it’s a bigger statement. Will he team up with any other heroes? Who and how will he team up with other heroes?
What has happened to the Peters in other universes?
The Spider-Man films are clearly the stories of Tom Holland as Peter Parker. Brand New Day is a fantastic follow-up to No Way Home. We know that there are two more Peter Parkers who have heard about this. It’s still a little curious to see if the revelations of the previous film have been carried forward for other Peters.
Peter’s abilities will be explored in more detail.
Peter is pretty confident with his powers by the time Brand New Day ends. Organic webshooters are one of the many powers Peter has acquired. Is that all? Is that all? How do his new abilities make him Spider-Man better? This was shown in the last battles but it is likely that there will be more.
What is the next Spider-Man film and when will it be released?
Next, we’ll see Spider-Man, if possible, in both or one of the Avengers films. It’s an established fact. What’s next? The third Spider-Verse film, due next summer, could feature a crossover. Brand New Day’s box office (of which there are billions) makes it look like this won’t be the last we see of Tom Holland. His space travels could have introduced him to an alien symbiote. He could have a confrontation with other members of The Sinister Six. There are many possibilities.
