Taiwan’s ministry of national defence said it detected one sortie of a Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, six People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) vessels and nine official Chinese ships operating around the island up to 6 a.m. local time.
According to the MND, the aircraft entered Taiwan’s southeastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The ministry said Taiwan’s armed forces closely monitored the activity and took propriate measures in response to the developments. The latest incursion comes amid continuing military and maritime operations by China in areas surrounding Taiwan.
India strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations, describing Islamabad’s use of the term Fitna al-Hindustan for groups operating within its own territory as officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology.
Speaking during a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni, said Pakistan was attempting to shift blame for its internal challenges through a misleading narrative. The remarks marked a sharp diplomatic rebuke as India accused Pakistan of promoting disinformation under the guise of religious rhetoric.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch Ashok Sharma, along with senior police officials, visited Bufliaz village to assess the damage caused by a fire that gutted 13 shops on June 7.
Sharma said the affected shops were the primary source of livelihood for their owners and that the administration was working to facilitate their rehabilitation. Referring to directions issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, he said support would be provided for the rehabilitation and livelihood of those impacted. Officials conducted an on-ground assessment of the losses and reviewed measures to assist shop owners in coordination with the Public Works Department and other concerned departments.

Historic Feat: At 11,578 Feet, Zojila Tunnel Records Major Breakthrough For Kashmir-Ladakh Link
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari participated in the ground-breaking ceremony of the Zojila Tunnel, the world’s longest bi-directional tunnel., India News, Times Now
Zojila Tunnel, the longest bi-directional road tunnel on the Asian continent, measuring 13.15 kilometres in length.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday attended the symbolic excavation of the final rock barrier inside the tunnel under the breakthrough ceremony of the world’s longest bi-directional Zojila Tunnel. The Union Minister was accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah.
The 13.153-km-long Zojila Tunnel is a key strategic project that will ensure year-round connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh. The achievement not only demonstrates the indomitable courage of Indian engineers but also marks the beginning of a new era for millions of people living in Kashmir and Ladakh.
Zojila Tunnel: All You Need To Know About
Located in the Zojila Pass region between Baltal near the Sonmarg hill station of Jammu and Kashmir and Minmaragh in Ladakh’s Drass district, the Zoji La Tunnel project was executed to provide all-weather connectivity across one of India’s most challenging Himalayan corridors, which remains cut off for long periods every year due to heavy snowfall, avalanches and extreme weather conditions.
The tunnel, situated at an elevation of 11,578 ft above sea level, represents one of the most significant engineering achievements in India’s mountain infrastructure sector.
Once fully operational, the project will ensure 365-day connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh, improving access to Drass, Kargil, Leh and surrounding regions while significantly strengthening mobility, logistics reliability and strategic access in a sensitive border zone.
The Zojila Tunnel Project carries immense socio-economic and strategic importance. It is expected to transform regional connectivity, improve the movement of people and goods, reduce weather-related isolation and support economic activity, tourism and essential services across the region, officials said.
The Zojila Tunnel is expected to significantly improve both civilian and military mobility in the region, underlining its role not only as an infrastructure project, but also as a national connectivity and security asset.
With excavation now completed, the project moves closer to delivering its long-envisioned objective of seamless all-weather connectivity between Kashmir and Ladakh, bringing long-term benefits in mobility, economic integration and strategic resilience.
The project began on October 1, 2020, and the overall safety achievement is 10 million safe man-hours.

India vs Afghanistan: Hosts claim record victory in one-off Test
Manav suthar, a debutant spinner, took seven wickets as India beat Afghanistan by 300 runs and an innings in their largest Test victory. Suthar was the left-arm spinning bowler who took 6-33 during Afghanistan’s initial innings at the one-off match held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh in New Chandigarh. Afghanistan’s reply was a disaster after India declared a massive 564-8 in their first innings thanks to centuries by opener KL Rahul, and ctain Shubman Gil. After starting day three with 113-5, they were quickly bundled out by Suthar for 152 despite Rahmat’s half-century. After being asked to follow on, Afghanistan started well but fell from 74-1 all out to 112 after the second day. Washington Sundar, the off-spinner, was India’s best bowler the second time, with 4-36. Left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav then sealed the win by taking two wickets in just two balls. Gill, who scored his eleventh Test century on the first day, said, “A complete victory, ticked off all the boxes, so very hpy.” India’s record in the format exceeds their thrashing of West Indies at Rajkot by an entire innings and 272 run in 2018.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 15, gets first India call-up for England and Ireland tour
Vaibhav, a 15-year-old batting sensation, has been called up to the India T20 team for a tour of England and Ireland.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, 15, would become the youngest player to represent India if he were to play. Tendulkar, who was 16 and 205 days old when he played against Pakistan in 1989, is the youngest man to have ever represented India. The Indian Premier League season in which Sooryavanshi scored 776 runs at a strike-rate of 237.30 for the Rajasthan Royals was the catalyst for his call-up. The left-hander won the IPLs Most Valuable player, the Emerging Player Award, and the Orange C (awarded to the highest-scoring player) as well as the 72 sixes he hit in the tournament, breaking the previous West Indies record of 59 set by Chris Gayle in 2012. He scored 175 runs in February when India defeated England in the Under-19 World Cup final. Ajit Agarkar said, “We’ve seen what this player can do. He almost single-handedly led Rajasthan Royals into the play-offs.”
He made a good start, and maintained it in a highly competitive and pressured competition. He’s an absolute game-changer. He has high expectations. He has chosen himself.”
“This kid is a real performer when the pressure is on,” he said to BBC Test Match Special.
We’re watching and learning something very, incredibly, special. At this moment, I believe he is the best T20 cricketer in the world.
“His strike rates are beyond anything that we’ve seen. He’s hitting Jasprit Bhumrahs first pitch for six. Pat Cumminss first pitch for six. Josh Hazlewoods first shot for six. So he isn’t hitting trundlers. He’s damaging this generation’s best bowlers. There are huge debates about how to throw to a 15 year old. Shreyas Yadav was dropped from the team and Shreyas has replaced him as the ctain. Suryakumar, 35, led India to the T20 World Cup victory in March. However, the 35-year old struggled at the tournament and during the recent IPL. Agarkar, who explained Yadav’s omission, said: “It’s hard to do, especially after you’ve just won the World Cup. However, as is common following World Cups, it’s important to assess what’s best for your team going forward.”
“We thought this would be the best move forward.”
Shreyas is a T20 player who hasn’t played one since 2023, but led the Kolkata Knight Riders team to victory in the IPL in 2024. He also ctained Punjab Kings in 2025 to a second-place finish. Prince Yadav has been selected to play in place of Jasprit Bhumrah, who is resting and Hardik Pandya. Full squad
Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek, Abhishek, Sanju, Samson, Ishan, Shivam, Tilak, Varma, Nitish, Reddy, Axar, Patel, Washington Sundar. Vaibhav, Sooryavanshi, Prince Yadav.

Jofra Archer: Ben Stokes issues England warning over hardline IPL stance
Ben Stokes, the ctain of England’s cricket team, has warned players that they may quit international cricket if England takes a strict stance against the Indian Premier League. Jofra archer, the fast bowler who played in the Indian Premier League last year, will not play the first test against New Zealand. He may also be unable to play the second.
In an ideal scenario, it would have been incredible to be able to call on everyone you wanted at every opportunity. Stokes stated that cricket isn’t playing by the rules at the present time. It could be messy, and players like Jofra may not play again for England if it is handled in a different manner. That is not good for anybody.
“Jofra is committed to England and loves the game. The fact that he’s not playing in this first test match doesn’t change anything.
The 31 year old is in Barbados now, his country of birth. He won’t return to England before the first Test. The second Test begins at The Oval on 17th June. The absence of Archer from the first test at Lord’s means England is without its premier fast bowler, as they try to rebuild after the 4-1 Ashes loss in Australia. Michael Atherton, a former England ctain, and Michael Vaughan have both questioned Archer’s absence.
I know this whole situation was discussed quite a bit over the last few weeks. Stokes said, “I totally understand the frustrations of people, but it’s not all bad.
“A lot of the points that people make about Jof and this situation have to do with how it looked when they played. It’s totally different now. There are cricketing opportunities that were not available 10, 15, 20 year ago. There is so much out there for cricketers. I can see both sides. It’s a question of ‘why is Jofn’t here?’ but I understand there are other options and you want to players to be in a position to take advantage of them.
