FAA probes JFK near miss after another recent close call fuels scrutiny of air traffic safety

The Federal Aviation Administration said that both flight crews responded immediately to onboard alerts. The incident is still under investigation. The pilot then received air traffic control instructions which put the plane in the path of a departing aircraft from a parallel runway. Southwest Flight 1152 was the departing aircraft.
