Family makes terrifying discovery in basement following growing suspicions

A Harding University professor in Arkansas and his family discovered that a stranger was living in their basement when they noticed items mysteriously disappearing from their home. Dutch Hoggatt told KTHV in an interview that he first noticed something was wrong when he noticed the shoes he usually leaves near the back door of their home were missing. “I asked my spouse if she’d thrown them out, and she hadn’t,” he told KTHV. “We noticed that the chairs in our house had been moved over time. We noticed that some food was missing. “Authorities later identified him as Preston Landis. He had been living in the home secretly for several days and moved from a crawlspace into the basement before the families discovered him. “I think they both thought they were going crazy. “I think they thought they were both going crazy.” Cherisee Gregory said. On April 29, the family was searching the house, while Dutch Hoggatt went to church. His wife, Sharon Hoggatt entered a storage room under the basement stairs. She started to back out, and said that there was someone in the closet. Mark Gregory replied, “I see their leg or jeans or something.” Mark went downstairs to investigate what was going on as the person in a closet remained silent. “When I go into the closet, I yell for the guy to come out,” KTHV reported. “I’m holding a baseball bat.” I hit the door or the frame to scare him. He finally says, “OK, I’m on my way.” ‘”GET OFF MY LAWN! The White County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s comment request. The family stressed that nothing had been stolen from their home and that they felt bad about Landis. Dutch said, “We’re sorry for this man.
