Hogan said that the physical toll his career took, coupled with the financial pressure he felt after his divorce, drove him to return to the ring even though his body was barely able to handle it. “I was taking two 80-milligram patches of fentanyl under my gums in the morning. I also had two 300mg patches on my legs. And they gave me six 1.5mg lollipops,” he said.

The dosage was so extreme, even medical professionals were alarmed. “I went into the pharmacy and he said, ‘You ought to be dead. He recalled the professional saying, “We have never seen a person take this much fentanyl.”

Hulk Hogan revealed that he was in constant pain and often had to sleep with his head up. “If I just twitched a finger like that, then my entire back would spasm,” he said. His last in-ring performance was in 2012 and he parted ways from TNA when his contract expired in 2013.

Hogan also reflected on his now-iconic nickname in another part of the documentary. Vince McMahon Sr., the wrestling legend, explained that despite using “Hulk”, he was encouraged to adopt “Hulk Hogan” because of his massive frame.

“I asked, what is Hulk Hogan?” He recalled, noting he was Italian and did not identify with the Irish sounding name. After some hesitation, Hogan agreed. This decision would define his legacy.

The documentary also explores Hulk Hogan’s relationship with his former wife, giving a glimpse of how it all started. Hogan was modest in his description of how they “hit it off” but Linda’s memory of their first meeting is much more vivid.

She recalled returning to his apartment where he disappeared in the bathroom and re-emerged “completely naked”. “It was just like going to the zoo to see a… Wooly Mammoth,” said she. “He was enormous.” She asked, “How many people can claim to have been f-cked a giant?”

Hulk Hogan has also opened up to the world about the death of his older brother Allan Bollea, which was one of the most painful events in his life. Hogan acknowledged that their relationship was complicated after Allan Bollea died in 1986, at the age of 38. “We weren’t close. He grew up very quickly, he said. By the time he turned 17, he had joined a group of bikers.

As Hogan’s career grew, he said that his brother would sometimes show up at matches with “like, 10 Hell’s Angels.”

Hulk Hogan shared an experience that has stayed in his mind ever since. He remembered his brother approaching him on a parking lot and telling him that he just got out of rehab, and needed money. Hogan gave the money to his brother, but later regretted it. He said he didn’t bring him along, and explained that he had left for a wrestlers event shortly afterwards.

He received the devastating news that Allan had died from an overdose. “I should have taken him along with me instead of handing him the money. That was the last time I ever saw him. Hogan said, “It was… it was a difficult one to get past.”

Hogan said he “couldn’t handle” attending the funeral of his brother. When asked to elaborate, the wrestling legend became visibly emotional, and cut the interview short. “You must stop,” he said as he struggled to continue.
