Illegal immigrant shot by ICE indicted for allegedly ramming agents with car in California

A grand jury indicted a Salvadoran citizen residing in the U.S. without authorization on federal assault charges after he allegedly rammed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents with his vehicle. Mendoza Hernandez did not comply with the requests of the agents despite repeated requests. The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that he kept his car running despite being repeatedly asked to do so. One agent, who was directly in the path of the vehicle jumped out of its way. ICE INVOLVED AFTER AGENCY SAYS THE ILLEGAL GANG MEMBER TRYED TO RAM OFFICER. “During this incident, in response to the car’s movements, the agents discharged their weapons and hit Mendoza Hernandez multiple times. Mendoza Hernandez received medical attention at the scene, and was taken to hospital,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Law enforcement suspected Hernandez to be a member of the 18th Street Gang. Fox News Digital reported that Hernandez was wanted in connection with a murder investigation. Hernandez faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the assault charges. He could also face a fine of $250,000 for each count.
