The actress was diagnosed as having MS around 2001-2002 when she was about 20 years old. She didn’t reveal her condition to the public until 2016, because she feared that it would limit her career opportunities. Sigler told Us Weekly Gandolfini often asked her how she was feeling. “But never in the workplace or in front of anyone. She said that knowing someone knew her secret shifted her energy. In a podcast from 2024, Sigler spoke about the moment that she told Gandolfini of her MS. She said, “I remember him placing his big paw onto my shoulder and saying, ‘Whatever needs you, I’m going to keep it a secret, but whatever you need you let me know.'” Sigler added, “The actor was the most loving, gentle person.” He was found unconscious in the bathroom of his Rome hotel. Paramedics tried to save him on the way to hospital, but upon arrival, he was pronounced dead. He was 51. Sigler described the moment she heard about Gandolfini’s death in an episode of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” She received a phone call from Vince Curatola who said “We were all confused as to who was calling you because we knew you’re pregnant…but Jim’s dead.” Sigler said that she was shocked and cried. “It was surreal because we had done funeral scenes so many times as a cast.
