After years of disciplined work, the singer decided to enjoy the holiday season with no restrictions, a choice that changed his momentum quickly.
In a YouTube video, he said, “We reached the goal, and it was just before the holidays. So I was like ‘You know man, I have been working hard the last three years to lose this weight, I am going to enjoy the holiday’.”
This led to a series indulgent meals including Thanksgiving, his Birthday, and Christmas.
The situation became even more complicated when he broke his collarbone just a few days before Christmas. He was forced to stop all exercise.
“I ate a large Christmas meal, a large Thanksgiving meal, and a huge birthday meal. “I kinda went off the rails, and I broke my neck… a few weeks before Christmas,” said the singer to PEOPLE.

The 41-year old admitted that fear began to take over and made it difficult to face where he was.
He said, “I have lost my way to some extent,” admitting how far he has drifted away from his previous discipline.
Jelly Roll continued to describe his anxiety about weighing himself, saying “I am afraid to [weigh-in]. I feel bloated and fat. I think the scales will let me down.
He finally faced his fear and stepped onto the scale. It revealed that he had gained 12 pounds, or 276.2 lbs.
He admitted that he had avoided weighing in on the issue.

Jelly Roll will not give up on his transformation despite the setback. The artist, who started his journey in 2023 with over 500 lbs, has since lost 275 lbs. He is now setting new objectives to keep himself motivated.
He said he wanted to continue losing weight, and aims to drop another 40-50 pounds to reach the maintenance level he desires.
He is also pushing himself to a new challenge that he has never faced before.
“I’ve never run a marathon or even thought about running one,” he said. He revealed plans to run the New York City Marathon in November.
Beyond fitness, he has a vision of his personal milestones, including a bold, visual goal that reflects the progress he has made.
“I know that it’s getting silly, but I believe there’s an account of a man who can go from 560 pounds to a shirt off picture. It’s absurd,” he shared. “It’s absurd” he said.
