ABC clarifies the facts amid reports that they plan to end “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” after the current season.
A spokesperson for ABC Entertainment told Us Weekly that “This information was inaccurate – any reports regarding the future of this show are at this time purely speculation.”
After multiple outlets claimed that Kimmel’s 24th-season late night program would end after the premiere of ABC’s Tuesday’s show, ABC clarified its position.

According to TMZ, Kimmel has been shopping for other projects in recent months, such as a podcast, along with other shows. This news follows an interview Kimmel’s spouse, Molly McNearney gave on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” where she spoke about her husband’s eventual retirement.
McNearney’s response to the question “What do you think about it?” was: “It appeals to my nervous system for the family.”
She continued, “It’s like Jimmy is holding a flashlight in his other hand while holding a fly-rod in one.” “I feel like Jimmy deserves to be out on the river, relaxing. But I want him to continue fighting.” “I feel this desire not to quit, because what he is doing right now I believe is extremely important.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! debuted in January 2003. Since then, it has broadcast over 4,000 episodes. Kimmel’s Show was pulled abruptly from airwaves almost a year ago. Executives said it would “preempt indefinitely”. This happened because of the host’s comments about the dialogue sparked by the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, a political activist of the right, was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 10 as part his American Comeback Tour. Kirk was shot in the neck during an outdoor event at the Orem campus, Utah. He was taken to hospital where, a few minutes later, he died.
Kimmel’s monologue after the tragic event was critical of the MAGA movement and President Trump for blaming Kirk’s demise on “radical left”.
Kimmel apologized for the remarks he made. He became emotional at one stage and said, “It wasn’t my intention to lighten up a murder.”

Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning stars Jeremy Strong as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in a follow-up (or companion piece, as Sony insists it be called) to The Social Network. The film opens in theaters on October 9.
Andrew Garfield plays OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial during a 5-day leadership crisis, when Altman is fired then reinstated to his position as CEO. The Neon movie premieres Oct. 5, at the New York Film Festival (and will be released in limited quantities on December 25).
There are also two documentaries of epic length.
Alex Gibney’s dissection of Tesla and SpaceX tycoon Elon Musk is titled Musk. It runs for nearly four hours, and will be released on select screens from Bleecker St., after its premiere at Venice, Tuesday, Oct. 16.
You Can See Everything by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the A24 surprise project dropped in Telluride and follows Theranos’ founder Elizabeth Holmes as she prepares to enter federal prison. This three-hour movie will also be released in cinemas on October 16.

If you look at November’s projects, we have another one: Graham Moore’s Netflix series The Altruists. It follows the fall of the crypto exchange FTX, and Anthony Boyle stars as Sam Bankman Fried, the co-founder, and Julia Garner plays Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison.
Dramas are being viewed with some skepticism about whether they will be a hit. The Social Reckoning Trailer has been compared to its much-loved precursor The Social Network. Amazon MGM dropped Artificial due to apparent conflicts of interest, and several studios passed before Neon acquired it. This has caused some industry insiders speculate that the film may be lacking. It’s too soon to draw any conclusions. Neither film has even been screened in front of a festival crowd.
However, the initial buzz is astronomical. Both You Can See Everything and Musk have received positive reviews at the respective festivals and are both currently rated 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The Hollywood Reporter reviewed Musk and left their critic in “outrage” for “225 minutes”. Our review of You Can See Everything described it as “fascinatingly slick and dizzyingly brilliant.” The brilliant trailer for You Can See Everything generated immense interest and was immediately meme-able.
Silicon Valley has pledged to disrupt Hollywood for years (and, in some cases, succeeded). With this strange coincidence of timing, Hollywood is now returning the favor.

The Chainsmokers sparked outrage after trying to dismiss concerns about more than 12 people needing to be hospitalized at a California concert.
San Jose Police Department reported that 14 patients had been hospitalized due to a number of issues, such as “suspected intoxication or drug-related problems.”
The group did not mention this in their post on the concert. This show in San Jose was chaos !!!!! Next time, we’ll bring a bigger horn. That’s our fault,” the group wrote on Instagram.
Commenters quickly pointed out the ignorance of the original post. “Didn’t like 14 people get hospitalized? “?” wrote one person.
It’s not right to downplay the fact that 14 people went to hospital while watching your show. It wouldn’t hurt to educate people about drugs, alcohol and the dangers of bystanders if they are so fucked-up at your show.
In response to the criticism, The Chainsmokers characterized the hospitalizations of alcohol-related intoxication.
In a response, they said “Some children drank excessively”.
They added, “Everyone’s fine.” As you might imagine, this happens at concerts. It’s not clear why some news stories are trying to turn it into a story.
We saw the article the day after, and we asked the organizers of the concert if there was anything out-of-the ordinary. They said that nothing unusual happened for a music event …. It seems that media was successful in creating a story, but everything is okay.”
Last week, paramedics responded to the scene just minutes after opening act. ABC 7 reported that the concert started at Discovery Meadow at 5 pm and finished at 10:34 pm.
The outlet reported that paramedics had treated some of the patients in the park. However, at least 10 were transported to hospital.

Movie theaters are looking to maintain the high spirits after a record-breaking summer with midnight margaritas.
The fun of “Practical magic 2” is the celebratory cocktail. It’s a fantasy sequel featuring two witchy sisters, played by Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock. The nostalgia factor should help the sequel film reach $30 to $40 million in North American cinemas on its first day, which is enough to make it No. 1. The film will be able to topple “Spider-Man Brand New Day’s” six-week reign.
The international box-office for “Practical magic 2” will be between $18 and $25 million in 77 countries, which could mean initial sales of $48 to $65 millions. Warner Bros. made the film for $75m.
It was initially a box-office flop, but it became a fan favorite. The original film, which was adapted from Alice Hoffman’s novel, saw sisters Sally Owens and Gillian Owens – who are descended from a lineage of witches – fighting a curse, that killed the men with whom they fell in love. Susanne Beer directed the sequel. It picks up after 25 years, when Sally’s and Gillian’s daughters discover their family secrets. They also try to end the curse which has plagued them for generations. Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing and Joey King reprised their previous roles. Maisie Williams and Joey King joined the cast. The reviews for “Practical magic 2” were not kind. Variety’s Todd Gilchrist described the film as “as long and cumbersome as the 28 year wait between the two parts.” This may have impacted the box office beyond the opening weekend.
Disney’s “Oasis Don’t look Back in Anger” is also new, and is aiming for a start of $5 to $7 millions from 1200 theaters domestically. Liam and Noel Gallagher, members of legendary British group Oasis, reunite in the concert film for the first since 2009. The film “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, which includes behind-the scenes footage of their successful world tour and the first interview between the Gallagher brothers in 20 years, is a must-see. They are notoriously not good friends. The “Oasis”, a documentary that premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this week, has received a rapturous reception.
Box office figures will be rounded out by summer left-overs such as “Spider-Man Brand New Day,” The Odyssey” and Coyote Vs. Acme.” The next few days will see “Brand New Day,” surpassing “Star Wars: The Forces Awakens” (936 million dollars, without inflation adjusted), as the top-grossing domestic movie. Tom Holland has so far made $923 million as Peter Parker in North America, and $2.4 billion worldwide.

A source confirmed to Variety that Martin Herlihy will be leaving Saturday Night Live after five years.
After four seasons as a member in the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy, the comedian joined the Season 51 writing team.
NBC has declined to make a comment.
In a major cast revamp after Season 50 of “SNL”, John Higgins left the NBC show and Ben Marshall was promoted to lead cast. Herlihy continued to be a staff writer and appeared on-screen periodically in sketches such as “Green Flags”, “Blowing It”, as well as some of “A Film by Martin Herlihy”.
Herlihy appeared in many sketches with Please Don’t Destroy. He often played a fictionalized form of himself. In the “Roast”, a fan favorite, Herlihy sparred with Dakota Johnson and Taylor Swift called him a “sad Virgin”.
Please Don’t Destroy continues to tour and work on projects together, even though Herlihy and Higgins no longer appear in “SNL”. The trio co-starred together in “Please Don’t Destroy : The Treasure of Foggy Mountain”, a Peacock film, in 2023. Herlihy’s most recent credits include “The Breadwinners,” Roommates,” The Running Man,” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” co-written with his father, Adam Sandler’s longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy.
Herlihy’s departure is the second big one ahead of Season 52. The first was Chloe Fineman, who left in July. Fineman is best known for doing impressions of Jennifer Coolidge, Drew Barrymore and others. She left Studio 8H in July after seven years.
