Bear Grylls is back for a second season of “Running Wild With Bear Grylls” and this time he brings Matthew McConaughey with him.

Grylls revealed that the Season 9 premiere was years in the making. The two have been trying for nearly 20 years to team up. “There was a nice connection and he always said ‘I’m going to do the series’. Grylls told Decider that he “really wanted to do it” and that sometimes, it takes time for the stars to align.

Matthew McConaughey did not hold back when the moment arrived. The two headed to a Norwegian glacier, where they faced freezing waters, steep rappels and intense survival challenges. And the food? It was not your typical dinner.

After a long outdoor day, Grylls kept his word and provided the meal. This included boiled reindeer tests cooked over a campfire, where things became real (and a bit hard to stomach). Grylls admitted that the dish did not live up to previous meals he had shared with the actor. “I mean, I don’t think it’s great,” Grylls admitted. “What do they call these? Rocky Mountain oysters? It’s like a sanitized version. We had a slightly rawer version of it.”

Matthew McConaughey was praised for his willingness to embrace the experience. “But, again, [McConaughey] has such a great way of being. And he was in. He would say, “Bring it on!”

McConaughey, meanwhile, came prepared with his own signature style. Grylls remembered that McConaughey had said he was bringing his own Pantalones Organic Tequila in a hip flask.
