Speaking on BBC’s Politics North Darren Grimes, deputy leader of Durham County Council, said Gibbins has been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation. Grimes, when asked about the issue, agreed that there had been a “failure of the vetting procedure”. “I accept that. I do accept it,” he said before pointing out antisemitism accusations against Green Party candidates in Newcastle. Tice said, “This weekend, we’re celebrating our incredible achievements.” “Like every party, we have internal processes to determine when people have said or acted in the wrong way. “I condemn any wrong and inappropriate thing, but the main point is that voters have heard the sneering and slandering against us all and they voted more Reform because they wanted action, they wanted delivery, and they were sick of the failures by the Tories and Labour. “Reform UK has been approached for comment.Follow BBC Sunderland on X, Facebook, Nextdoor and Instagram.More on this storyReform UK takes control of Sunderland City CouncilLabour’s ‘worst fears realised’ in the North EastLocal Greens withdraw support from candidatesRelated internet linksSunderland City CouncilReform UKSunderland City CouncilSunderlandReform UK
