Brad Pitt’s Daughter Vivienne Files to Legally Drop ‘Pitt’ From Last Name
Vivienne, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is the newest child to request that the “Pitt’ name be dropped from her surname.
TMZ obtained court documents that show the 18-year old filed a petition to change her legal name to Vivienne Jolie Marcheline. It is not specified why the petition was filed, but it’s simply “personal.”
PEOPLE reported the first news.
Vivienne Jolie has been professionally using her surname Jolie for some time. She received a credit as “Vivienne Jolie”, in the Playbill of the Broadway production “The Outsiders”, which she produced with her mother.
Vivienne has joined her siblings and other family members in attempting to separate themselves from the Pitt name. Shiloh, as TMZ reported previously, successfully petitioned for legal drop of “Pitt”. She filed this 3 days after turning 18. Zahara and Maddox also submitted petitions to change their names from Maddox Chivan Jolie to Zahara Marley Jolie.
Sources who are close to Brad told TMZ that Angelina is responsible for the rift Brad has with the kids. They also said Vivienne’s lawsuit was the latest in what they described as a sad and never-ending effort to separate the children from Brad.
Brad and Angelina divorced in 2024, after many years of legal battles. However, they are still embroiled in an ongoing dispute over Chateau miraval, a French winery that they bought while married.

Whitney Cummings’s Trump Joke at Kennedy Center Is Cut From Netflix Special
The Netflix special on Tuesday did not include a joke that comedian Whitney Cummings told at the Mark Twain Award ceremony about President Trump’s sex-trafficking.
Bill Maher, the late night host of the show “Last Call”, was honored at the Kennedy Center where Donald Trump serves as chairman. The June 28th event was held the month after his name had been removed from the facade of the building by a court order. He didn’t attend.
From the stage, Ms. Cummings stated that she heard Trump wanted to attend tonight but was unable to do so because he had been caught up in sex.
After a few laughs, Ms. Cummings said: “They told me not to do that.”
The joke seems to be a reference to his previous association with Jeffrey Epstein, the financier who was charged in 2019 with sex-trafficking before committing suicide. This joke appears to be a reference to Mr. Trump’s previous relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. The financier was accused of sex-trafficking in 2019, before he committed suicide in prison. Trump denied that he was involved in a sex trafficking ring or had any knowledge about it.
This special included a joke made by Ms. Cummings about the influence of Mr. Trump on Kennedy Center programming. She told the audience to “enjoy ‘White Hamilton’s’ three-month fall run.”
The decision to exclude the joke about sex trafficking was unclear.
Netflix released a statement Tuesday saying that the Kennedy Center had the right contractually to remove jokes.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Daughter Vivienne Files Petition to Drop ‘Pitt’ from Her Last Name (Exclusive)
Need to Know
Vivienne, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has petitioned to drop the “Pitt’ from her last names.
The court documents that PEOPLE obtained list “personal” as the reason of the request.
Vivienne’s petition comes after similar requests for legal name changes from Zahara and Maddox
Vivienne, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is attempting to remove “Pitt’ from her name.
The petition was filed by the 18-year old in Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name from Vivienne Jolie-Pitt into Vivienne Jolie. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the reason given for changing her name is “personal”.
According to court documents, a hearing for Vivienne’s case has been set for November 2.
This is the latest sign that Vivienne Pitt has disassociated herself with the Pitt name.
Vivienne Jolie was credited in May 2024 as “Vivienne Jolie”, on the Playbill of Broadway’s The Outsiders. She produced it with her mother.
Vivienne is not the first child of Jolie and Pitt, aged 51 and six, to consider dropping Pitt from their name.
Zahara wants to change her legal name from Zahara Marley Jolie to Maddox Chivan Jolie. Shiloh announced in The Los Angeles Times that she would drop Pitt and become Shiloh.
A source who is close to Pitt told PEOPLE that it was “sad” to hear someone publicize how they successfully alienated their child from their other parent.
According to court records obtained by PEOPLE, their petitions are still pending. Zahara will be hearing her case on September 28 while Maddox is scheduled to hear his case on Sept. 14.
Vivienne was the youngest child of Jolie’s and Pitt’s 6 children. She was born in July 2008 along with her identical twin, Knox.
I have six unique human beings living in my house. It is fascinating to see the various stages, emotions and curiosity that each of them goes through. “Why wouldn’t anyone be excited?” Jolie told PEOPLE in October 2021. We’re supposed help them find out who they really are. You can’t find out who someone is if you’re not enthusiastically developing with them.

Name changes are the result of years of tension between Pitt and his children following their acrimonious separation from Jolie, in 2016, after two years together and more than a decade of being a couple. After a long legal fight, the divorce was finally finalized late in 2024. They remain in a dispute about Chateau Miraval – the French winery that they used to own together.
Jolie claimed in court documents obtained by PEOPLE earlier this month that Pitt mischaracterized Jolie’s claims to try and obtain her years-long financial records.
