Quinton Aaron spoke with ABC News on Monday morning. He opened up about his confusion over the relationship between him and Margarita.

The Blind Side’s actor was unconscious in January 2026 after a serious health crisis involving a stroke of the spine that required him be placed on life support.

He was shocked to learn that Margarita, the woman who had been caring for him, was still legally wed to her ex-husband, despite having claimed throughout their relationship that they were divorced.

Aaron said, “She told me that she was divorced for over 10 years during the entire time we spent together.” “She told the person at the place where we were getting hitched, ‘Oh, yes, I do have all the documentation. I can send you the divorce decree via email. ‘”

The 41-year old tied the knot with Margarita back in December 2024 in a “spiritual marriage”.

She was responsible for making major decisions regarding his health and finances during his hospitalization. However, after the reports were made public, his family limited her access to him.

Aaron said, “That’s why the doctors removed her from me.”

He then admitted he had never seen her divorce decree and said that not doing his due diligence was his “biggest error.”

He reflected, “If I could do it all over again, I would have done the due diligence.” “I would have definitely done more research.”

Margarita, Aaron’s spiritual spouse, defended herself against his family’s allegations, telling ABC News she had no knowledge that the divorce was never finalized.

She said, “I feel that this needs to be said, and brought out in the open, when I told Quinton back on the hospital bed. I want to say this very honestly.”

“I told him, I said: ‘Baby this information that you and your family gathered on me, I didn’t know it.'” I added, “This is what I discovered.” Margarita continued, “It is true.”

Her estranged spouse, Eric Guzman backed her up, telling the news outlet they both thought that the divorce had been finalized years ago. However, since the situation turned out as it did, he filed again for divorce in February.

Aaron’s health has improved, but his recovery could take some time.

Aaron, who is still immobile, said that doctors told him it could take up to a year for him to regain consciousness in his legs. This time frame Aaron rejects.

“The doctors predicted that it could take up to a full year or even months,” he told a news outlet. “I said ‘I don’t claim this time frame.’ I’ll be walking much sooner than you think. That’s how I feel.”

He said, “That’s the way, you know, I, my faith, my relationship with God.”

Aaron said, “I started to pay attention to my body, because I discovered over the years that it was speaking to me very disrespectfully, and I had been ignoring it.”

He’s reportedly now undergoing physical therapy in an Atlanta hospital to regain his walking ability.
