‘We share same ambition’ – Alonso named Chelsea’s third boss in year

The 44-year old Spaniard will begin his four-year deal in July. He previously spent three seasons in charge of Bayer Leverkusen where he led the German club to its first Bundesliga title and German Cup in 2024. Alonso said, “Chelsea is a great club and I am incredibly proud to be the manager of this great team.” He had previously spent three years in charge of Bayer Leverkusen where he led them to their first Bundesliga title in 2024 as well as the German Cup. “It is clear from my conversations with the owners and sporting leadership that we share the same goals. We want to create a team that can compete consistently at the highest levels and fight for trophies. “This football club has a lot of talent and potential, and it will be an honor for me to lead them.
