The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara has unveiled a comprehensive refresh of 93 rooms, including four Junior Suites, marking a new chapter for the 25-year-old property and reaffirming its status as a beloved luxury destination near Victoria Falls. The renovation introduces modernised room categories such as Deluxe Zambezi River Balcony Rooms, Grand Zambezi River Terrace Rooms, and the entirely new Grand Zambezi River Balcony Rooms, along with four Junior Suites. Each space preserves the iconic safari-Victorian character while embracing a contemporary Zambian aesthetic. The design palette reflects the earthy tones of the surrounding wilderness, with updated textiles and explorer accents creating a seamless transition between interior comfort and the rugged beauty of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Upgraded bathrooms offer separate soaking tubs and rain showers, new amenities and modern fixtures. In-room technology has been enhanced with flat-screen televisions, improved WiFi, and advanced climate control. Private balconies and terraces feature new furnishings, and large doors frame clearer sightlines to the Zambezi, turning each room into a tranquil spot to read or enjoy a drink.
The wellness experience centers on the Anantara Spa’s riverside gazebos. Tucked among manicured gardens by the pool, these four secluded sanctuaries open fully to the surrounding nature, letting the scent of the gardens and the sound of water enhance every ritual. A highlight of the treatment menu is the Nalikwanda Lozi Journey, inspired by the Kuomboka ceremony. It begins with a hot stone massage to symbolize the earth in the dry season, followed by a hydrating facial reflecting the voyage on the royal barge, and concludes with a spa pedicure to celebrate the arrival of a revitalised voyager. These luxurious treatments are available to residents and to non-residents seeking indulgent self-care.
The culinary journey celebrates the spirit of Zambia and the bounty of its fresh produce. Kubu Deck offers an authentic African feast beneath the stars on the banks of the Zambezi, with spectacular views of the mist from Victoria Falls. For quieter moments, Anantara’s Designer Dining provides private jetty breakfasts overlooking the water or beneath the shade of the monkey tree, and a Royal High Tea.
Adventure remains readily accessible beyond the resort gardens, where giraffes roam. Guests can embark on the Royal Livingstone Express, a restored steam locomotive that offers a rail journey reconnecting with the romance of historic travel.
