Yes, Bridgerton season 5 will focus on Francesca and Michaela Stirling’s love story

For Bridgerton season 5, it seems we might be leaving the Ton behind for Scotland. The reason? The new couple who will be at the centre of the next instalment of Jess Brownell’s Regency romp. And no, it isn’t Claudia Jessie’s Eloise and her great love. Instead, it’s Hannah Dodd’s newly widowed Francesca and Masali Baduza’s Michaela, the beloved cousin of her former husband, John Stirling.. Netflix confirmed the news with a romantic new teaser featuring the pair, alongside sweeping vistas of misty mountains and dense forests. The streamer also revealed that the forthcoming season is now in production.. The next chapter’s log line reads: “The fifth season of Bridgerton spotlights introverted middle daughter Francesca. Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons. But when John’s cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”. It goes on to describe Fran as the “Countess of Kilmartin—reserved and contained, Francesca has long felt out of place in the world. As Michaela stirs up new feelings inside her, Fran will make discoveries about herself that could change everything.” Of her paramour, it adds: “Beneath Michaela’s charming and vivacious exterior hides a vulnerable young woman who is quick to run the second she feels discomfort. But, this season, Michaela must face her vulnerability head-on as she’s forced to navigate her relationship to her late cousin’s legacy—and to Francesca.”. The news prompts a number of questions: will Eloise finally have the spotlight in season six, then? (The show, it appears, is jumping ahead to the sixth book in Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series, When He Was Wicked, while the fifth book, To Sir Phillip, With Love, focuses on Eloise.) What else will have happened in this two-year time jump? And how quickly will the identity of the new Lady Whistledown be revealed? It’s too early to say—but rest assured, eight new glorious, scintillating, swoon-worthy episodes are now on their way.

Square nail designs are back – here’s how to wear summer’s coolest manicure trend

The Noughties offered up a treasure trove of trends: crimped hair, icy blue eyeshadow and the latest trend to be revived in 2026 is square nail designs. “Square nails are a huge trend at the moment,” says celebrity manicurist Michelle Humphrey. “The ’00s are back, with brands like Miu Miu bringing back nostalgic fashion; of course nail trends follow suit.”. Beloved by everyone from Dua Lipa to Kylie Jenner, square nail designs can be striking and bold or more minimal and low-maintenance, depending on your preference. “We’ve become accustomed to the refined, whereas this shape embraces a bolder structure, which can take a little more confidence to wear,” says professional manicurist Julia Diogo. You just need to be mindful of creating a squared-off tip. “The square shape suits any nail length, but at the moment, medium to longer lengths are trending,” Humphrey shares.. The trend also works well with vibrant patterns, colours and cute motifs. “Square French nails are super cool with a bright white tip and also work well for a more modern mani, where the classic white tip is softer and more natural looking,” Humphrey says, adding that dots, shimmery sheer shades and silver glitter lines are all popular options. “It’s all about tapping into the nostalgia of the Noughties.”. What are square nails?. Square nails have a straight, flat top (or to use its technical name, free edge). The sharp top and sides give the trending nail shape its name.. Why are square nails trending in 2026?. Call it a return of the ’00s or perhaps a clean girl backlash, but square nails are striking and sharp; nothing like the gently curved almond or classic rounded styles that were the norm in the late 2010s and early 2020s. “Y2K trends have been bringing this nail shape right back and I see them having even more of a resurgence this summer,” Diogo shares.. How do you maintain the square nail look?. Square tips work best on stronger nails, as the shape can break easily. Humphrey advises that those with longer talons should make use of a strong formula, like acrylic, hard gel or Polygel. “There’s also the Gel X system, a gel press-on nail that offers many square lengths and shapes,” she says.. What’s the difference between square and squoval nails?. “The main difference is created by the corners,” explains Diogo. Square nails have a sharper, cleaner edge, whereas the corners on squoval nails are softer. “The square edge creates a more structured-looking nail bed, while squoval shaping is subtle and rounded.”. How do you file nails into a perfect square shape at home?. “Square nails are great for narrow, uniform nail beds,” Diogo explains. “We need some length to achieve a square, so you can start by trimming the nails to a medium length,” she adds. “I’d also invest in a cuticle nipper or tool to really push back those cuticles and extend the nail bed,” which is exactly what this shape needs.

Exclusive: Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda honeymooned with their friends. You should too

For decades, the honeymoon of a newly married couple in India has been a topic of scrutiny, subjected to equal amounts of blessings and pressure. Until a few generations ago, it was a common practice for families, especially on the groom’s side, to accompany newlyweds on their honeymoon, or for it to serve as a patriarchal pretext for the marriage to be consummated immediately and for the wife to perform her procreative duty.. As these oppressive guidelines now begin to dissipate, what we’re left with is the opportunity for a relaxing vacation that has no expectations attached to it. After the chaos and congregation that happens at Indian weddings, most couples choose to spend their honeymoon in leisurely isolation. However, a new trend is emerging, where couples are going on a honeymoon with their closest friends. Cue: the buddymoon. A way for the wedding celebrations to be prolonged with chosen family, a buddymoon is an intentional expansion of the nuclear unit of a couple that destabilises the hierarchy that has been traditionally established around romantic coupledom.. Shortly after wrapping up their wedding celebrations in Hyderabad, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda checked into a beachside Airbnb villa in Koh Samui for a buddymoon with a close group of friends. For a couple as in the public eye as they are, the choice to spend their first post-wedding getaway with friends felt like an intentional choice to reconnect over unhurried dinners curated by a private chef, reminisce over long walks along the beach, revel in music and pool games, and chat late into the night.

Fashion in Northeast India is bigger than beauty pageants and thrift clichés

The collections, styled by Aizawl-born stylist James Lalthanzuala, brought together three distinct designers from Mizoram—Hannah Khiangte, Lapâr and Escape Engmoia—each working with the Zo puan, the indigenous textile of Mizoram and its neighbouring regions. Held in Mizoram’s capital city Aizawl, the event was a recalibration of what fashion in Northeast India could look like when creatives step out of the traditional notions on how indigenous textile should be worn and celebrated.. The showcase was conceived and curated by Lal Moya, an event curator based in Washington DC. “As a Mizo creative, I have always believed our designers deserve the same level of staging and presentation that you see anywhere in the world. The talent has always been here. What we needed was the platform and the courage to present it properly,” he said.. Photographed by Rachel Pachuau. Photographed by Rachel Pachuau. For decades, fashion from the Northeast has been expected to carry the duty of representation. Clothes had to signify something: tribe, tradition, identity, solidarity. Fashion, in the sense of experimentation or self-expression, was often treated as secondary. What the Aizawl Design Project demonstrated, instead, was a new class of creatives who no longer feel obligated to do so.. Photographed by Rachel Pachuau. Photographed by Rachel Pachuau
