Florida hospital patient finally leaves room after 5 months amid legal battle

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!. A Florida hospital has dropped its lawsuit to evict a patient who refused to leave for months — saying the woman finally moved out.. Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) had sought a court order to remove the woman from her hospital room, where she remained after being discharged in early October, and authorizing the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to assist in removing her if necessary.. A hearing scheduled for Monday was canceled after the hospital filed a voluntary dismissal.. Hospital spokesperson Sarah Cannon said Monday that the case is no longer active because the patient “is no longer at TMH,” according to The Associated Press.. FLORIDA HOSPITAL SUES TO EVICT PATIENT WHO REFUSES TO LEAVE FOR MONTHS. The hospital argued in its complaint that the woman’s continued stay diverted staff and resources from other patients and tied up a needed hospital bed.. “TMH has limited inpatient beds,” the complaint stated. “The defendant’s continued occupancy prevents use of the bed for patients needing acute care.”. ARIZONA FAMILY SUES HOSPITAL, SAYS STAFF ‘UBERED’ SICK SON TO SIDEWALK WHERE HE DIED. According to the filing, she no longer required acute care after a formal discharge order was issued Oct. 6, and staff made repeated efforts to coordinate her departure, including offering transportation and contacting family members.. It is unclear how often hospitals resort to legal action to remove patients who refuse to leave after discharge.. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP. Hawaii doctor’s son tells jurors dad confessed cliffside attack on wife, vowed to jump before arrest

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!. A Hawaii jury heard testimony that a son watched his father appear on FaceTime with blood on his shirt and admit he had just tried to kill his wife before saying he planned to jump off a cliff ahead of police.. Prosecutors are relying heavily on that account from Emile Konig as they build their case against Gerhardt Konig, a doctor who is accused of attacking his wife, Arielle Konig, near the Pali Puka Trail on Oahu in March 2025.. Emile, who was living with the couple and his younger siblings in Kahului, Maui, said the call came shortly after the alleged attack.. “He would not be making it back to Maui and to take care of the younger kids and that Ari, my stepmom, had been cheating on him and that he tried to kill her,” Emile testified, recounting what his father told him, according to Hawaii News Now and courtroom testimony.. DOCTOR’S WIFE TESTIFIES HE BEAT HER WITH ROCK, TRIED TO FORCE HER TOWARD CLIFF EDGE DURING HIKE. Jurors heard the first call came at 10:42 a.m., when Konig allegedly told his son he was not coming home and needed him to step in for the family. He also claimed Arielle had been unfaithful and said he had just tried to kill her.. About an hour later, Emile testified, his father called again on FaceTime, where he appeared with blood on his shirt.. Emile told the court he saw blood on his father’s shirt.. During the call, Konig again spoke about the alleged affair and the attack, and then described what he planned to do next.. “During that call, the next plan that he said was to jump off the cliff,” Emile testified. “I told him not to.”. HAWAII DOCTOR’S EX-BOSS SAYS ANESTHESIOLOGISTS HAVE MEANS TO KILL AS WIFE TESTIFIES ABOUT SYRINGE ATTACK. Prosecutors say Konig ended the call with a stark warning: “I’m going to go before the police catch me.”. Emile also testified his father never claimed self-defense during either call, a key point as the defense has argued Arielle was the initial aggressor.. During cross-examination, defense attorney Thomas Otake pressed Emile on specifics of the FaceTime call.. Emile confirmed he saw blood on his father’s shirt and that Konig said it belonged to Arielle. He also testified that his father told him the blood came from her head and that Arielle had been cheating on him for “a couple months.”. JURORS SHOWN BODYCAM OF DOCTOR’S BLOODY WIFE, ROCK HE ALLEGEDLY USED TO BASH HER IN CLIFFSIDE ATTACK. Otake also asked whether everything had seemed normal earlier that morning.. “Yes,” Emile said.. In the courtroom, Konig reportedly showed no visible emotion as his son testified. Emile’s grandparents also watched quietly from the gallery, Hawaii News Now reported.. Earlier in the trial, Honolulu Police Department digital forensics examiner Det. Thomas Iinuma detailed what prosecutors describe as a troubling digital trail in the months leading up to the incident.. FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X. Former FBI agent suggests inside job in Massachusetts mansion heist as ‘specific and valuable’ items stolen

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!. After news of a major heist at a $20 million seaside Massachusetts mansion, one former FBI investigator says details provided by the home’s owner could point to an inside job.. “It certainly sounds to me pretty clear that there was some inside information about this property, about the home, and more so about the specific valuables that were taken,” Bill Daly told Fox News Digital, adding that unless certain items were widely and publicly known to be inside the home, investigators will likely hone in on potential suspects who had access to the property.. Daly was an investigator and counterintelligence operative for the federal law enforcement agency.. Beverly, Massachusetts police said the brazen robbery occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, and that a neighbor called the police at 8:50 a.m., alerting them of the crime. The opulent 27,000-square-foot mansion rests on ocean front property northeast of Boston.. CHILEAN BURGLARY CREW FILMED THEMSELVES DURING $3M SOCAL JEWELRY HEIST, CAUGHT WEARING LOOT: DA. “Through an investigation, Beverly Police determined that an armed suspect had broken into the home and assaulted and tied up the home’s sole occupant before stealing several items from the house, including a vehicle, which the suspect used to leave the scene,” the agency said.. Thomas Swan III owns the luxe property, and told WCVB that the victim was his housekeeper.. “What they did to my housekeeper was just horrendous,” Swan said. “She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, ultimately tied up and left in the garage. She’s really, really special, but truly traumatized by this, truly traumatized.”. LA MODEL AND INFLUENCER CHARGED WITH USING DATING APPS TO BURGLARIZE HOMES OF ELDERLY, WEALTHY VICTIMS. The housekeeper was pistol-whipped by the suspect during the home invasion, according to NBC Boston.. Swan added that the items taken from the home were “some very specific and valuable things.”. The robber reportedly fled the scene in a Porsche stolen from the home, which was ultimately located by police several miles away in the town of Lynn, Massachusetts.. BURGLARS CAUGHT SPYING ON HOMES WITH HIDDEN CAMOUFLAGED CAMERAS BEFORE STRIKING NEIGHBORHOODS. Daly noted that the tactics used by the suspect differ from those typically found in high-profile targeted robberies involving expensive items.. “It is interesting in this case that [the suspect] appears to have abused, pistol-whipped and perhaps even dragged the housekeeper by her hair,” said Daly. “It’s different from the typical method of operation. If you look at the people who robbed the gems and the art out of the Louvre, they were sleek, they kind of blended in, they didn’t hurt anyone in the process. And you see that often when you talk about high net worth break-ins or you hear about valuables taken from art galleries or from museums.”. “It’s done in a much more low-key fashion. This one was much more brazen, and also

Jimmy Gracey’s chain necklace never recovered after Spanish police rule death accidental

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!. FIRST ON FOX: Spanish authorities confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday that Jimmy Gracey’s signature gold chain and rhinestone cross have not been found as part of the investigation into the 20-year-old’s death.. Carles Valles, a spokesperson for the Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional Catalan police, confirmed that the necklace has not been found.. Only a day after the 20-year-old University of Alabama junior’s body was found in the water near Port Olimpic, a marina on the Mediterranean Sea just a few hundred feet from where he and friends had been partying at the famed Shoko nightclub, police concluded that Gracey’s death was accidental.. During a two-day search from March 17 to March 19, police located Gracey’s phone in the possession of a person who was wanted in connection with a separate crime. His wallet, containing money, credit cards and identification, was found floating in the water.. AUTHORITIES SHARE UPDATE ON CIRCUMSTANCES AROUND MISSING COLLEGE STUDENT JIMMY GRACEY’S DEATH. Results of an autopsy and toxicology report have not been released.. Jason Pack, a former FBI analyst, said the story of the evidence gathered in the case must be filtered through the lens of the grieving Gracey family.. “Spanish authorities have ruled his death accidental. Surveillance footage reportedly shows him walking alone toward the water. The autopsy points to drowning. And the man arrested with Jimmy’s phone is believed to have simply found it on the street,” Pack told Fox News Digital. “Spanish investigators cleared him of involvement and charged him with illegal possession of stolen property. That explanation seems plausible with the right context — like if the trauma was postmortem.”. MISSING UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA STUDENT JIMMY GRACEY FOUND DEAD IN BARCELONA. “What lingers are a few details that haven’t been fully explained publicly,” he said. “Some reports have raised questions about certain forensic language in the preliminary autopsy findings. His wallet came back intact: cash, cards, ID all there … which Spanish police say supports the conclusion he wasn’t targeted.”. “His gold chain, which he’s wearing in the last known photo of him alive, has not been recovered. That may mean nothing. Breakwaters are unforgiving and currents are strong,” he continued. “But families don’t get to grieve cleanly when questions are still lingering. Hopefully, Spanish authorities have already sat down with the Graceys privately and walked them through every detail.”. Gracey was laid to rest in his hometown of Elmhurst, Ill. on Tuesday.. Fox News Digital’s Michael Ruiz contributed to this report.
