Akshay Kumar, the actor, recently reminisced about his school days, recounting tales that revealed both his playful antics and moments of vulnerability. On an episode of Wheel of Fortune, he brought out his childhood friend Jinesh from the audience, noting that their friendship began in kindergarten. However, what was particularly striking was his frank admission about their academic difficulties during childhood. Reflecting on their early years, Akshay remarked, “Hum log KG se saath mein hain aur KG se 9th grade ke beech mein hum log teen-teen baar fail hue hain (We’ve been together since kindergarten, and between KG and 9th grade, we failed three times).” Delivered with humor, the statement provided a peek into how setbacks formed part of their journey. His friend added to the fun by jokingly replying, when asked the reason: “Main aapke saath time spend karta tha, uski wajah se (Because I used to spend time with you).” Although the exchange was playful, it prompts wider questions about academic stress, peer pressure, and the ways early setbacks mold confidence and self-image. How might recurring academic failures in childhood affect someone’s confidence? Athul Raj, a counselling psychologist, tells indianexpress.
