Mark Hamill, the actor famed for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series, has always been outspoken with his views. Lucasfilm and Disney recently underwent a leadership shakeup. In January 2026, Kathleen Kennedy resigned as Lucasfilm President, and was succeeded by Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan. In March, Josh D’Amaro officially took over from Bob Iger as Disney’s CEO. Many fans are curious about how these changes could affect the franchise’s future, but Hamill appears untroubled.
During a promotion for his new role with The Lego Group, the 74-year-old actor commended Dave Filoni—who collaborated directly with George Lucas on the animated series The Clone Wars— in an interview with USA Today. Hamill said that Filoni grasps the franchise so well and that he can’t think of better hands to helm the galaxy far, far away. He also praised the great stuff Filoni has created, such as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, both featuring a young Luke Skywalker. “George was a mentor to Dave, so he knows George’s sensibility,” Hamill added.
