Realtor’s cold case murder suspect accused of fleeing scene, skipping 911 call in new witness account: report

Court documents newly released indicate that a witness saw the woman arrested in the 2011 cold case killing of an Iowa real estate agent behaving “in an erratic manner” right after hearing gunshots. Kristin Ramsey, 53, faces first-degree murder charges in the April 8, 2011, death of Ashley Okland. She was arrested last month, the most recent update in the 15-year-old cold case. Okland was shot twice at close range—once in the chest and once in the face—while hosting an open house for a model townhome owned by Rottlund Homes, the same company where Ramsey worked at the time of the alleged murder. In a recent court filing, a next-door neighbor witness stated she heard two loud bangs before spotting Ramsey at the townhome’s front door, per KCCI. The witness also informed authorities that, upon glancing out her second-floor window, she observed Ramsey pacing beside her car and talking on her phone. Prosecutors have disclosed that Ramsey provided inconsistent accounts of her location on the day of the alleged murder during various interviews since the probe started, per KCCI. Court documents indicate that on May 3, 2011, after serving a search warrant, officials found multiple guns, illicit drugs, and aggressive posters in Ramsey’s residence, the news source added.
