Ruby Rose wrote a piece for news.com.au in 2011 where she discussed sobriety. She described the night she partied in 2010 with Katy Perry, revealing that she had been sober for 30 days at the time.

“I had been sober for 30 days, my first attempt. I was partying with Katy. What I remember thinking was, ‘I’ll drink tonight. I deserve one.’ What’s the worst thing that could happen? Rose wrote:

She didn’t stop after one drink, and ended up “vomiting onto Katy’s feet”, adding that she had lost her keys and her dignity that night. She wrote: “I don’t normally vomit (I don’t know why, but I just don’t), so it was clear that the universe wanted me to be punished.”

Rose revealed that the night that she partied with Perry is one of the reasons that she decided to become sober again. She had not consumed alcohol for almost 90 days when the essay was written. Rose said, “Before jumping to conclusions, I have not been charged with a DUI, nor was I involved in any horrific events. I simply had enough and it’s been one of the most important decisions of my life.”

The “Orange is the New Black’ actress has been open and honest about her sobriety. She revealed that alcoholism runs through her family. She told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2013 that she was “getting sick because I had depression.” It wasn’t helping her in this department. “As soon as I stopped, I felt happier.”

Rose was ejected from a restaurant in 2016 after “having an outburst.” She defended herself by saying that she threw the fries at a waiter after he “repeatedly and derogatory” jokes about her sobriety. She apologized for her actions, but said that she would not do it again. ‘”

Rose made a comment on Threads in April alleging that Perry sexually abused her at a Melbourne nightclub, as reported by The Blast. Rose shared what happened when users asked her to. She wrote that she had thrown up on Perry and had previously told the story publicly, but made it seem like a “funny drunk story.”

One user asked Rose, “She kissed another girl and you didn’t like it?” Rose responded by saying that Perry allegedly rubbed the private part of her face while she was lying on her friend’s couch, until she “projectile puked.” She also said that she had photos to support her story.

Rose filed a formal complaint after Rose’s claims. She said, “I imagine that they are past the statute of limitations but it is worth trying.” She then posted a thread on Threads, telling her followers that the report was complete and she will no longer be able publicly discuss the issue because the investigation is still ongoing. “I can begin the healing process right now. And temporarily [sic] move on. I love you all so much,” Rose wrote.

Detectives from Melbourne’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Department confirmed on April 15 that they are investigating Rose’s claim. However, they said that they will not release any further details while they investigate the situation.

A representative of Perry has denied that Rose’s claim of sexual assault occurred. The rep said that Ruby Rose’s social media claims about Katy Perry were not only categorically wrong, but also dangerous, reckless lies.

Rose claims that she did not come forward earlier because she was “too hurt and afraid”. She also admitted to Perry helping her obtain her U.S. Visa, which led her to keep this alleged incident secret until now.
