Sreeleela’s pistachio anarkali is a mélange of zardozi, badla and gota patti

For Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda’s wedding reception, Sreeleela turned up in an emerald green anarkali. Just two days earlier, she was spotted in a soft pistachio green anarkali. Her latest appearance reinforced her affinity for the silhouette in a refined pistachio creation by Anand Sharma.. The ensemble, crafted in nysa silk, plays with sensual structure and fluid movement. The bodice is tailored to hug the torso before opening into a generous flare that falls to the floor. The kurta’s scoop neckline is complemented by the back’s deep scoop, revealing a striking open back that lends the otherwise classic silhouette a subtle sensuality.. Although the overall anarkali is bereft of ornate embellishments, the artistry is concentrated along the hemline where intricate zardozi work forms an ornate border. “The craftsmanship harks to the bygone Mughal era,” shares Sharma. “It is Afghani in style but slightly Indianised. The embroidery features a blend of aari embroidery, mirror work, bugle beads, zari thread and badla. It took over ten days to come to life.” The richness of the silk kurta is paired with a wispy Chanderi dupatta that introduces subtle sheen and a lightness to the look. The dupatta features two-tone Chanderi in shades of light green arranged in linear patchwork, while its borders echo the same zardozi and gota patti detailing seen on the hem.. With the anarkali’s traditional silhouette and heritage embroidery combined with the fresh shade and open back, the ensemble looks of-the-moment rather than conventional. This best-of-both-worlds approach makes it the kind of design that can transition across occasions. Styled smartly, it can work for a daytime celebration and just as well for a glam cocktail soirée. Sreeleela’s styling reflects this versatility. She paired the look with platform wedges from the House of Vitti India and jewellery from Shold Sherni®. Her beauty look remained understated with rose pink tones, softly blow-dried curls and a classic bindi.
