This is the best beachwear for a summer wardrobe with personality

Beachwear is usually among the first things we think about when summer is around the corner. Before the holidays are booked, before the first long weekend by the sea, before the city has fully surrendered to heat, the mood begins to shift. Suddenly, everything feels a little more sun-soaked in the imagination. Melting ice cream, salt-stiff hair, glasses of something cold sweating onto tabletops, the conviction that life would improve if only you were near a beach. Summer sells the same fantasy every year, and to be fair, it remains extremely effective.. Somewhere between reruns of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the pastel excess of Bridgerton and the first properly punishing afternoon of the season, the urge to rethink your wardrobe starts to creep in. Not in the heavy-handed sense of a full seasonal overhaul, but in that slightly escapist way summer dressing tends to tempt us. You start wanting stripes that look made for a lounger, prints that belong near a shoreline and cover-ups that can carry you from beach chair to late lunch.. This year, fashion is in the mood to indulge that impulse. Spring/Summer 2026 stepped away from the minimalist uniform and leaned into clothes with more colour, more texture and more visible personality. For beachwear, that shift feels especially welcome. The category is often flattened into basics or treated as something purely functional, but the best versions suggest a little more life than that. A good beach wardrobe should still be easy, of course, but it can also be playful, specific and a little cinematic.. A few easy pieces can do most of the work. Stripes and spots still hold up, printed swimwear adds colour fast and a strong cover-up can pull the whole look together. Add a roomy bag, flats or a piece of jewellery, and the rest takes care of itself.. Terracota stripe bikini set, Lemon Lords, ₹2,300. Midnight stripe bandeau bikini set, Lemon Lords, ₹2,300
