George Takei, J.J. Abrams, and others pay tribute to Nichelle Nichols, late Star Trek actress
Nichols was Enterprise crewmember Nyota Uhura in the series. She also appeared in multiple “Trek” films. Takei posted on social media that she would have more to say about Nichelle Nichols (the trailblazing, incomparable Nichols), who shared the bridge as Lt. Uhura for the USS Enterprise. Nichelle, you are greatly missed. He sent him much love and respect via Twitter. Stacey Abrams, a Georgia politician and “Trek fan,” posted a photo of herself with Nichols and captioned it, “One my most treasured photographs – Godspeed Nichelle Nichols champion, warrior, and tremendous actor.” Her kindness and bravery opened the way for many. NASA’s official Twitter account posted a tribute to Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek actor and trailblazer. She was a role model for many and symbolized what was possible. She worked with us to recruit the first female and minority astronauts and inspired generations to strive for the stars. Jason Alexander wrote, “My deep love for Star Trek is profound.
