Oscars 2023: Actress Andrea Riseborough continues to be nominated despite her ‘concerns.

The campaign for the British actress sparked a Hollywood debate after her surprise nomination.

Oscars organizers have decided British actress Andrea Riseborough can keep her nomination, but said tactics used in her film’s campaign “caused concern”.Riseborough was an outsider for a nomination but was championed by stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Edward Norton. The Oscars Academy has now reviewed whether the campaign broke its rules. It concluded that the issues did “not rise to the level that the film’s nomination should be rescinded”.Academy chief executive Bill Kramer added: “However, we did discover social media and outreach campaigning tactics that caused concern. These tactics are being addressed directly with the responsible parties.

The Academy has not identified the “responsible” parties. Riseborough has not been accused in any wrongdoing. Gwyneth Paltrow shared this Instagram post. “While the critic was not wrongly accused of expressing his opinion, it is possible that the To Leslie campaign got in trouble for using a quote that contrasted Riseborough and Blanchett. Image source: Getty Images. Frances Fisher, an actress who appeared in Titanic and Gone In 60 Seconds also lobbied for Riseborough, while suggesting Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh and Danielle Deadwyler did not need any more support as they were “a lock for [their outstanding work”. Deadwyler and Davis, both black, did not make it to the shortlist.

“It is clear that the regulations need to be clarified in order to create a better environment for respectful, inclusive and impartial campaigning. These changes will be made following the awards cycle and shared with our members. The Academy seeks to create an environment in which votes are solely based on the artistic and technical merits and achievements of eligible films. “Riseborough is among two British stars that will be nominated this year for the Oscars. Bill Nighy is also nominated. Hollywood will announce the winners on 12 March.
