According to a memo by The Times, Mr Barclay has instructed the NHS to offer GPs a meaningful choice for patients at the point where they refer. This will also allow them to use the information during long waits. The NHS England bosses have announced plans to include the information on the app earlier in the year. The plan does not provide for reimbursement of travel or accommodation costs. It is unclear if the NHS will cover a patient’s travel or accommodation costs under the plan. This was a promise made by Sajid Javid, the former Health Secretary. The NHS app was launched in 2018 as a way to generate Covid passes. Since then, the app has been a failure to become the primary method of managing appointments and GP visits in Britain. Many have deleted it as Covid passes no longer apply. As part of the Covid recovery plan, the NHS was told to perform 30% more routine operations such as hip replacements than pre-pandemic levels. According to the Office of National Statistics, inflation stands at 8.8 percent as of July.
