NEWYou can now hear Fox News articles. The fiance of an influential social media personality from New Jersey is being questioned by authorities about her death. Authorities said that she was found trying to commit suicide while on a dream holiday off the coast Africa. Ashly Robinson (also known as Ashlee Jenae) died on a trip in Zanzibar to celebrate her 31st Birthday, just days after she got engaged to Joe McCann. Her family called her death “suspicious”. “Robinson’s death was ruled as a suicide by local authorities after she tried to hang herself in her hotel room door on April 9. The Tanzania Police has since revealed that Robinson’s death was “attributed to a misunderstanding” between the influencer McCann and the hotel staff. They also added that the incident caused the hotel staff to separate them by placing McCann into another room for their safety. In a Tuesday update from Tanzania Police, they said McCann was “continuing to be questioned by Police Force and his Passport has been suspended,” but authorities did not elaborate. According to sources, McCann is being interviewed by the BBC as a witness and is not being accused of any wrongdoing. Harry and Yolanda Robinson told TMZ that they did not believe their daughter, Robinson, would commit suicide. They added, “She was a lighthouse.” A happy, go-lucky girl. The birthday trip turned into a marriage proposal. “GET BREAKING NEWS BY EMAILThe Family reportedly claimed that McCann had called them 11 hours after Robinson’s hospitalization to let them know that she was stable and then informed them later that their daughter was dead. Robinson’s family told TMZ that they haven’t heard from McCann in the 11 hours since her death, a situation they find “very strange,” FOX 29 reported. “At this point, there is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly’s suspicious death,” they added. She shared many photos of herself and McCann. One of her last posts showed her feeding giraffes in Zanzibar while on vacation. Fox News Digital contacted McCann. It was not immediately apparent if McCann retained an attorney.

Her body was discovered in September 2025 in the trunk of a Tesla abandoned in Los Angeles. Burke is being held in jail without bail. A former fifth grade teacher in Louisiana was arrested on multiple charges, including those involving her minor students.

Marisa Noel, 31, faces a total of 25 charges, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, including 10 counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, one count of first-degree rape, two counts related to child sexual abuse material, one count of unlawful communications and three counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.

Noel allegedly abused her position of trust with students. Authorities outlined a wide range of charges involving multiple alleged victims.

WEST VIRGINIA TEACHER FIRED AFTER ARREST ON CHILD SEX ABUSE CHARGE

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Becket Breaux launched an investigation into Noel Jan. 28 after receiving a complaint she was having “an inappropriate relationship with one of her former students.” 

Noel was a teacher at Teche Elementary School at the time.

With assistance from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, there was enough evidence to arrest the former teacher on four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and four counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, authorities said. 

Authorities also said additional charges were added after another unnamed victim was identified.

The ages of the former teacher’s victims were not revealed.

Noel was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on Monday, where records show she is still being held.

FLORIDA TEACHER CHARGED FOR ALLEGED SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT WHO LIVED WITH HER

While no bond has been set for the new charges, Noel’s previous bail was set at $750,000.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. It is unclear if more charges will be filed.
