Lionel Messi’s first stop in India was a chaotic scene as fans tore apart stadium seats and dumped water bottles on the pitch. His appearance at Kolkata’s Salt Lake stadium had been cut short. Supporters paid up to 12000 rupees ($133) for a chance to see the footballer, but they were disappointed when he could not be seen due to a large security group and officials. Some of the crowd became hostile when security took him away after about 20 minutes. Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal’s Chief Minister said that she was “deeply shocked and disturbed” by these events. Farooq Abdullah attack: Video shows moment gunshot misses Kashmir ex-chief minister

A CCTV video from a wedding held in Jammu, in Indian-administered Kashmir, shows a man shooting a gun towards the former chief minister Farooq Abdallah. Abdullah was not injured in the attack that took place Wednesday evening. The BBC reported that the police have taken Kamal Singh Jamwal into custody, and are investigating the incident. Abdullah, a five-time chief of Indian-administered Kashmir and president of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference – a prominent regional party – is also a prominent political leader.

Omar Abdullah shared the following on social media:

“Allah is kind.” My father’s shave was close. It is not clear what happened, but a man in a loaded gun was able reach point-blank and fire.
