The 24-hour-a day exercise places nearly 4,000 cadets into a mock-war setting, where older students lead complex missions, and younger students obey orders. This year’s event takes place April 15-16. The Air Force Academy, nestled at the foothills the Rocky Mountains, is 18,500 acres. But on Thursday, in the final exercise scenario, USAFA was transformed into Hokkaido – a Japanese island that was under attack by enemy forces. “We’ve taken over USAFA to give all 4,000 cadets space to operate during the exercise,” said CULEX Director Col.
