Capella Ubud Marks Eight Years With a Journey of Forest, Community and Firefly Conservation

Capella Ubud was a part of Keliki Village long before it became a destination. Its people shaped the village and its traditions. The camp is still deeply connected to the local community, and many of its team members are drawn from the area, including those that have been involved in the journey since before it opened. Capella Ubud supports local youth and future generations through ongoing English language classes, skills development programmes and other initiatives. Capella Curates is another way to express this connection, where guest experiences can be shaped in collaboration by the community. The Keliki painting journey with local artists and guided village walks offer meaningful exchanges that connect guests with the living culture of the destination. At the heart of this anniversary, Keliki, Our Home presents a curated two-night journey, inviting guests to experience newly introduced programmes, each reflecting the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana – the harmonious relationship between people, nature, and the spiritual realm. The journey begins with arrival into the forest and unfolds through layers of discovery, with a botanical walk and birdwatching experience that extends from the camp’s forest trails into the rice fields of Keliki Village, where indigenous flora and native birdlife reveal the richness of the surrounding ecosystem.Ritual at the Right HourADVERTISEMENTReturning to the camp as night falls, guests take part in Sandikala – a traditional Balinese ritual held at the camp’s temple at the threshold between day and night. Under the guidance of the rangers, guests place offerings and say prayers. Follow the Fireflies Back is the core of the journey. At dusk guests are taken to Taro Village where a community conservation initiative is working to restore freshwater habitats and clean-farmed paddy fields, as well as unlit corridors which fireflies rely on. The work is successful. Fireflies are returning to landscapes that were once affected by chemical farming or artificial light. The next morning, guests will experience A Soul Reborn at the sacred Wos River Temple in the center of the camp. This water purification ritual is rooted in devotional practices passed down through generations. The Camp ItselfDesigned as an intimate tented campsite set within a forested gorge, Capella Ubud was designed around a single principle – that a building should honor its landscape, rather than replace it. The anniversary package includes a one-bedroom tent, a private swimming pool, daily breakfast at Mads Lange, and birdwatching and botanical walks that extend from the camp to Keliki Village. It’s about honouring Keliki Village, the farmers, artists and community who continue to inspire our experiences with guests.” – Christian Jaquier. The experience is available to book from 15 April 2026 for stays up to 31 December 2026. Please contact [email] for more information and to make reservations.

The architecture is based on the clean, linearity of Cycladic shapes, softened by natural materials and earthy tones which echo the island terrain. ADVERTISEMENTNatural elements such as wood, marble and woven textiles add warmth and texture. Soft, muted colors create a calm aesthetic. Each space is designed to be a private retreat, shaped by landscape, light and stillness.A Culinary Expression Of The CycladesDining At Vione Paros Has Changed This Season With The Introduction Of Pino By Luca Piscazzi. Fresh, locally sourced fish is the star of the menu, presented with precision to highlight its natural qualities, while modern techniques and thoughtful compositions add depth and sophistication to every dish. Casago Expands Idaho Presence with New Locally Led Franchise in McCall and Boise

Casago Expands Idaho Presence with New Locally Led Franchise in McCall and Boise

Casago, a premier franchise-based vacation rental management company, has expanded its Idaho presence with a new locally owned and operated franchise serving McCall and the greater Boise area, led by Idaho residents Alex and Susan Pedigo.

The launch marks the continued rollout of Casago’s franchise-first model following its 2025 acquisition of Vacasa, converting markets into locally owned and operated businesses. Under this structure, local franchise owners lead operations on the ground, supported by Casago’s systems and national platform, ensuring homeowners and guests are served by teams directly accountable to their communities.

Alex Pedigo brings more than 15 years of vacation rental experience, beginning in resort lodging at a ski resort in Colorado and a lengthy career at Vacasa sales and business development. He then joined Casago to assist with market sales and the transition of Vacasa markets to locally owned and operated Casago franchises. Susan brings a background in marketing and business leadership. Together, they are focused on delivering a hands-on, locally led management approach tailored to each homeowner and market.

The new franchise officially went live on March 1 and includes 100 homes in the McCall area and 20 homes in Boise, supported by a team of 14 locally based employees.

The expansion reflects Casago’s core ethos: local ownership, local expertise and a commitment to strengthening the communities it operates in. For Alex and Susan, that means employing local people, actively supporting small businesses and helping ensure tourism dollars stay within the region.

Alex and Susan Pedigo, owners of Casago Idaho, said: “Idaho is incredibly community-driven, and that’s a big part of why this opportunity felt like such a natural fit for us. We’re focused on building a business that reflects the character of these communities. That means hiring and supporting local people, strengthening relationships with homeowners and small businesses, and creating a more personal, high-quality experience for every guest. For us, it’s about being truly present in these markets and helping both McCall and Boise continue to thrive.”

Steve Schwab, founder and CEO of Casago, said: “Alex and Susan represent exactly what Casago stands for – locally invested, community-minded operators delivering a better experience for homeowners and guests. Our model is built around empowering people who know their markets best, and we’re proud to support their growth in Idaho.”

The Idaho expansion forms part of Casago’s rapidly growing footprint across the U.S., Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. By combining local decision-making with the reach and resources of a national brand, Casago is raising the bar for professional vacation rental management.

In addition to property management services, the franchise plans to spotlight independent restaurants, shops and experiences across McCall, Long Valley and Boise through guest communications, social media and digital platforms.
