I started using lip liner at age 44 (and I don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier)

When I was young, I had a close friend whose signature beauty style was to use a nude lip liner and Vaseline each day. It was subtle, chic, and she still wears it 30 years later. I, on the contrary, never thought lip liner was for me. I prefer to wear my lips with a little balm or gloss. Lip liner is a new trend, so I decided to try it for the sake journalism. Now, I understand why my friend is so obsessed with lip liner. The benefits of lip liner “Lip liner should be used every day because it allows for a subtle but effective way to shape, define and correct lips,” says Sergio Anton De Las Nieves a YSL beauty makeup artist. It not only improves the lips, but also transforms the face.” Katie Jane Hughes, founder of KJH.Brand, uses lip liner to make lips appear larger. She recommends adding small marks outside of the lip line, at the corners of your mouth, cupid’s bow and in the middle of your bottom lip. Use a liner that is one shade darker than the skin tone. Then, blend the product with a fluffy brush. She said that less blending will give a more defined look, while more blending will give a softer finish. “Don’t draw a rigid line, and blend in the edge a little,” says De Las Nieves. It’s also helpful to lightly fill in your lips with the lip liner because it makes it look more natural and lasts longer.

Alia Bhatt just carried Gucci’s most coveted bag at Cannes 2026

Alia Bhatt’s arrival at Cannes 2026 was a very contemporary look. Bhatt opted for a monochromatic look, leaving behind the theatrical excess. From the airport terminal to Croisette, it was black on black. She was silent and flawless as she carried the Gucci handbag on her arm, which today seems to represent fashion’s collective desire. The Gucci Jackie 1961 bag.Getty ImagesAfterall, some bags transcend eras. Some bags define them, while others do not. The Jackie is in the second category. It was originally a hobo-shaped model with a soft shape. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis named it after her, and in the 1970s she almost unwittingly made it a cult item. She carried it under arm with a sophisticated nonchalance which is still impossible to replicate today. Since then, the Jackie 1961 has endured fashion seasons without ever losing it’s visual lexicon. The curved, enveloping form. The metal plunger is used as an identification clasp. The soft, recognisable shape has been reinterpreted by different Gucci creative director over the years without betraying its original nature. Demna Gvasalia is the next creative director to take on this iconic silhouette. Her vision is reflected in her timely intervention. Just enough to move Jackie’s center of gravity in the spirit of the time. Demna applies one of her most recognisable aesthetic codes – the worn-out, emotional effect of objects, to the most sought-after Gucci bag from yesterday and today. The result is Jackie that looks like it’s been loved. This choice is a logical one in an age of vintage obsession, when the search for rare pieces at French flea markets and small, forgotten shops can be archeological. Fashion today is no longer obsessed with perfection. It is more interested in objects that have a personal, authentic appearance. Accessories that tell a story even after they have left the boutique. This is where the new Jackie 1961 finds it’s narrative power: the very soft, grainy, leather that folds into itself, this deliberately imperfect slouchy look, and that used aesthetic which restores emotional depths to a symbol for luxury.

Priyanka Chopra’s Amit Aggarwal look was made using a 20-year-old chikankari sari

Priyanka Chopra received the first Global Vanguard Honour for her contribution to the global culture at the Gold House Gala in 2026. The actor wore a custom sari gown by Amit Agarwal, which was inspired by the traditional craft of chikankari of Uttar Pradesh. The ensemble was made from a 20 year old chikankari silk sari inspired by Mughal Architecture and Lucknow, the city where the craft originated. It featured one of India’s finest forms of lace using a single thread of silk on chiffon. This was entirely handcrafted by Indian women over a period of one and a quarter months. Aggarwal built on the chikankari base, incorporating rubber cord, recycled glasses and hand-formed bead, all signature materials for the brand, to bring together the ensemble. The same level detail was applied to the silhouette. It reimagined a sari with a pallu that resembled a DNA helix in a Mughal Jaal motif. The ensemble was developed by Aggarwal with stylist Ami Patel who accessorised it with a Bvlgari neckpiece and Jimmy Choo shoes. Patrick Ta chose a bronzed skin tone with blushed lips and cheeks, while Irinel de León opted for full blowouts. Why not turn a chikankari dress that you may already have into a summer dress? Wear it with a gold or nude strappy sandal and a locket necklace,” says Divya Balikrishnan.
