‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ Getting Rebooted by Paramount
Freddy Krueger’s ready to close the deal on another film.
Paramount Primal, its new label for genre films, has signed a deal to acquire the U.S. adaptation rights for “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” The domestic rights will be licensed by the Wes Craven Estate, including Craven’s wife Iya labunka and son Jonathan Craven. Marc Toberoff will be producing the film along with the duo. Marc is an attorney that helped the family of filmmaker regain control over the first film.
Paramount Primal is developing the film, which has yet to be titled. The plot details are not yet known, but the film will take place in “A Nightmare on Elm Street’s” world and be based on its first 1984 movie. This means that we will see more of Kruger the child killer, with his burned face and claws.
J.D. Lifshitz is the head of Paramount’s newly formed genre label. Lifshitz, Raphael Margules and the team that produced “Weapons”, “Barbarian,” Companion,” and “Friendship” are responsible for this new label.
Rafi and J.D. Rafi, along with the fantastic team that they have assembled at Paramount Primal,” Labunka stated in a press release. We are excited to bring the world of Wes Craven’s ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ to a completely new generation of fans. Wes Craven would be thrilled that horror has finally found its place in culture. “We can’t wait to all sit in the dark, around the fire of today’s campfire and watch the new chapter of ‘Nightmare.'”
Paramount Pictures has also announced that the label it previously named will now be called Paramount Primal. Label will work with established and up-and coming filmmakers in order to create smartly-budgeted horror, comedy and action films.
Lifshitz Margules and Paramount Primal will produce the film. Wes Craven’s estate is represented by WME, Industry Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham LLP.
Kruger appeared in nine movies, a television series and videogames. Last seen in 2010, he was slicing up and dicing on the screen for “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, which grossed over $117 million on an estimated $35 million budget. New Line released “Elm Street’s” previous movies, and still holds the international rights. Paramount has agreed to buy Warner Bros., the parent company of New Line. Discovery.

‘Jurassic Park’ actor Sam Neill dies at 78
Sam Neill died Monday. His official account on social media confirmed this. He was best known for playing in “Jurassic Park”, “Peaky Blinders” and the films “Jurassic Park”. He was 78.
The statement was published early Monday morning. “Sam passed away surrounded by his family with dignity, as he had done throughout his life.” The loss of Sam was unexpected and sudden, but the good news is that he did not have cancer.
Early Career
Neill was not exposed to the world of acting until he went to college. He was born Nigel John Dermot Neill in Omagh County Tyrone in Northern Ireland on September 14, 1947.
Neill was a child when his parents served in the military and his family had a winery. Neill moved with his family to New Zealand when he was 7. While he was attending the University of Canterbury, he became exposed to acting.
In 1971, Neill landed a role as an actor in “The City of No,” a New Zealand TV film. He played in several TV films before he was chosen as the leading actor in 1977’s New Zealand action thriller “Sleeping Dogs.”
After “Sleeping Dogs,” Neill went on to work in Australia for several television shows and movies, such as “The Sullivans,” and the films “The Journalist” (1979) and “Just out of Reach” (1979).
He played Damien Thorn in “Omen III: The Final Conflict” in 1981.
‘Jurassic Park’
His role as Dr. Alan Grant, in “Jurassic Park”, a 1993 movie is probably his best known. Steven Spielberg’s science-fiction action film, based upon Michael Chrichton’s 1990 novel with the same title, follows a group of geneticists who create a de-extinct dinosaur park. Neill was inspired to create his character by paleontologist Jack Horner.
In an interview with Forbes in 2022, Neill stated, “Alan Grant like a comfortable old pair of shoes.”
He said, “They have seen better times, but are really comfortable and you won’t get rid of them.”
Neill reprised the role in both “Jurassic Park III ” and “Jurassic World Dominion.”
The actor, who played Dr. Alan Grant in his career as an actor, said the film franchise was “completely unexpected.”
He said, “I didn’t think there would be six films in all.” I also had no idea that the first film, and in particular that one, would find such a prominent place in pop culture. The lines are quoted by many people. Alan Grant removing his glasses in order to be able to see has been a popular meme. It’s just something you do at the moment, but 30 years later it is still a part of many people’s daily lives. It’s baffling, really.”
“Merlin,” “Peaky Blinders” and other roles
After “Jurassic Park”, Neill starred alongside Robin Williams in “Bicentennial Man,” and in the science fiction horror movie “Event Horizon” from 1997.
The Tudors, a historical drama and starring as the legendary wizard in the film “Merlin”, were also his other credits.
The role of Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, in the film “The Tudors” was described by Neill as “extremely fascinating” in an interview he gave to The West Australian.
It was six months of a very intriguing character, a great cast and a compelling story.
Neill’s career continued to grow as he appeared in Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder. Tommy Brock was also his voice in the animated film “Peter Rabbit”.
Honors and awards
Neill has received numerous awards throughout his acting career. However, the one that he most treasured was the Officer of the Order of the British Empire award he shared with his late father just prior to his death.
In a 2017 interview, Neill recalled the moment he received the OBE award. He spoke with Julia Zemiro, host of “Home Delivery,” a show on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s iview channel. He said ‘I am very proud of your.”
In 2022, Neill was also awarded the title of Knight Companion of New Zealand Order of Merit.
Cancer: a fight against cancer
Neill revealed to The Guardian in March 2023 that he had stage 3 blood carcinoma while promoting “Did You Ever Tell Me This?”
He had revealed his cancer-free diagnosis the previous year. However, he will still receive chemotherapy. He told the publication that while undergoing chemotherapy he experienced some “dark times.”
He said, “Those dark times have brought the beauty of life into stark relief and made me immensely grateful to all my friends and for each day.” “Just happy to be alive.”
According to the Lymphoma Foundation, Neill’s diagnosis in 2022 was angioimmunoblastic lymphoma. This is “a rare and aggressive form (fast growing) of peripheral T cell lymphoma.”
The Guardian reported that Neill first noticed swollen lymph nodes during the publicity tour for “Jurassic World Dominion”, in March 2022. He was then diagnosed with AITL. He “at first received chemotherapy but, when it failed, he began a new drug that he would continue to take every month for the remainder of his life,” according to the report.
According to The Guardian’s report, Neill wrote in his memoir that he was “possibly dead” and “may need to accelerate this.”
The author told the publication that writing his book was “a reason for him to live.”
He said, “I went to sleep thinking that I’d write about it tomorrow…that will entertain me.” It was really a great help, as I wouldn’t have been able to get through all that without something to do.
Neill leaves behind his two children: Elena Neill (whom he had with Noriko Watanabe), and Tim Neill (whom he has with New Zealand actor Lisa Harrow).
Neill’s statement posted on his social media page thanked staff members at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Sydney’s Darlinghurst suburb for their “incredible care.”
The statement read: “More information will be released later. For now, please respect the privacy of the family as they deal with this unimaginable loss.”

Jay-Z Yankee Stadium Concert Security Breach Caught on Video
Jay-Z’s fans on video were seen rushing into Yankee Stadium before the rapper’s final show at the stadium. The performance was postponed for three hours while security sorted through the crowd outside and admitted those who held tickets. Meanwhile, the packed venue was told that Jay-Z would not take to the stage until all ticket holders had been allowed in.
Jay-Z, who was supposed to perform on Sunday but started after midnight Monday night, apologized and informed the crowd of 46,000 people at the stadium, in South Bronx, that “like 10,000” people were waiting outside. Security “closed the doors and someone rushed the front door.” The security closed all the doors for your safety, and that of everyone outside.
A video posted on X appears to confirm that at least one turntile in the stadium was breached. Users @HipHopKlipz36, @TheRocSupremacy posted footage showing young concert-goers breaching the turnstile. A bottleneck soon formed, as several people became stuck at the entrance.
Some fans are elated, jumping up and down in celebration of having made it past the turnstile. However, behind them, others face danger. Uncertain if the fans seen on video are ticket holders or unticketed supporters trying to get in.
Security and New York Police Department Officers rush to the entry after about one minute to prevent a possible stampede. No injuries were reported at the concert.
Uncertain if the incident was isolated or if similar security breaches did occur at stadium entrances.
The final show of Jay-Z’s three-night Yankee Stadium tour, Sunday night’s performance was the last of those performances. It marked the 30th Anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, and 25th Anniversary of The Blueprint. The third night focused more on a career retrospective. It was another star-studded show, just like the previous two. Beyonce was joined by Rihanna and Usher, as well as Teyana Taylor. The show ended at 2:45 am on Monday.
