The race was initially halted with a red-flag before it was finally suspended an hour later when the severity of the multi-car accident became apparent. The race, which attracted extra attention because Formula 1 driver Max Vertappen was there, will not be resumed on Saturday evening, according to the organizers. Race control immediately halted racing after a collision between multiple vehicles to allow for extensive recovery operations and rescue operations, the race organiser stated in a press release. “Despite the immediate arrival by emergency services, emergency medics were not able to save the driver after he was extracted from the car.
