Bruce Springsteen Apologizes to Bono for Refusing Song in Commercial

Bono gave Bruce Springsteen a hard time for refusing to license his song “Girls in Their Summer Clothes” for a commercial for the clothing brand Gap in partnership with Bono’s AIDS foundation (RED).
While presenting Springsteen with the Harry Belafonte Voices for Social Justice Award at Tribeca Festival, Bono started to praise the Boss’ ability to bring a Woody Guthrie sensibility to pop radio. It reminded him of his failed attempt to get Springsteen to bring it to a TV ad.
Bono was partnering with Gap for a clothing line supporting his nonprofit and recalled, “I tried to get you to give … I said, ‘Bruce, this song “Girls in Their Summer Clothes,” this is like one of the great pop songs ever … Would you think about using it for a commercial, for (RED) and the Gap?’ And you said, ‘No.’”
“That was a big mistake,” Springsteen said, drawing laughs. “I should have said yes.” He called the 2008 song one of his “personal favorites” that the “audience doesn’t really care” about.
“That was just a song that I love,” Springsteen added. “Damn it, I still think back: ‘Bono asked you to put this thing on a commercial on television.’ I should have fucking done it! People would hear it like a hit, you know? So I have to apologize.”
At the beginning of the event, Tribeca Festival founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal introduced Bono, who then delivered heartfelt words of praise for the “Born to Run” legend. “Bruce Springsteen is America,” the U2 frontman said. “Bruce made poetry from the voices of the people and set that poetry to music. We honor him tonight as a musician and poet and as an activist and a patriot.”
In a brief conversation, the two talked about bringing resistance on the road for Springsteen’s Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour, on which he has blasted President Donald Trump and sang his recent ICE protest song, “Streets of Minneapolis.”
To close the event, Patti Smith (backed by Tony Shanahan) sang her 1988 song “People Have the Power” in honor of Springsteen. Then, he and Bono joined for a reprisal, joyously singing backup vocals on the chorus.

Seth Rogen Has “No Plans” To Work With James Franco Again

Once frequent collaborators, Seth Rogen doesn’t see an onscreen reunion with James Franco in his future.
The 2x Golden Globe winner recently said he hasn’t spoken to Franco “in a long time” and has “no plans” to work with the actor, who has been mounting an onscreen comeback after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in 2018.
“I’m trying to think how much I want to personally share about this,” he prefaced to The New York Times. “I honestly think the nuance of it is too personal for me to get into right now. It is a very personal thing. There’s the public-facing side of it, which I’ve spoken about, and I have the same stance publicly that I’ve had, and I think the proof is in the pudding — I have not worked with him in years.”
Rogen continued, “But the personal side of it is just so nuanced, and it involves people that I don’t know if I should be dragging into this. I don’t know what I would benefit from getting deeply into it. Nothing has changed since the last time I talked about all this, and I haven’t worked with him in a really long time and I have no plans to.”
After making their onscreen debuts together in NBC’s Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000), Rogen and Franco went on to star alongside each other in films like Pineapple Express (2008), This Is the End (2013), The Interview (2014) and The Disaster Artist (2017).
Franco previously said his and Rogen’s friendship was seemingly “over” after they hadn’t spoken in a while. “No. I haven’t talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over. And not for lack of trying. I’ve told him how much he’s meant to me,” he told Variety in 2024.
In 2018, multiple women accused Franco of inappropriate sexual behavior. More accusations would become public, including one that he eventually settled, where the actor was accused of intimidating students into gratuitous and exploitative sexual situations.

The New York Knicks return to the AT&T Center to try to get the last victory over the San Antonio Spurs and become NBA Champions.
The Knicks have built up real momentum during this playoff run, drawing a crowd of A-list celebrities to MSG. One of the most notable – and most fervent – is actor Timothée Chalamet, who will almost certainly be in attendance for Game 3 against the Spurs.
Chalamet is a known sports fan and has previously shown his expertise on everything from college football to French soccer. He’s also a long-time fan of the Knicks, as this 15-year-old social media post shows…
Back in 2010 a 14-year-old ‘Tim Chalamet’ grabbed free Knicks tickets after winning a trivia competition with ex-Knicks stars Landry Fields and Andy Rautins. Chalamet answered the questions correctly and picked up the tickets, proving his love for the team.
Now 30, Chalamet is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and he’s making the most of this historic run.
The award-winning actor has been courtside with other celebrities this season and will for sure be back for Game 3 on Monday.

Tom Brady reunites with Bridget Moynahan for son’s graduation before World Cup appearance

Tom Brady was all over the greater New York area on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, the seven-time Super Bowl winner turned Fox NFL analyst attended the high school graduation of his son Jack, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, from Riverside Country School in The Bronx.
The three reunited for the celebratory event and Brady shared a photo of them in an Instagram post for his eldest son.
“One of the proudest days of my life, watching Jack walk across the stage, and graduate into the next chapter of what’s already an impressive life,” Brady wrote. “You are an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend amongst many other things.
“What makes me happiest is knowing who you are when no one is watching. The way you show up for your friends. The way you check on people having a hard day. The love you give our family, and the fact that you still let me win in 1v1 every once in a while.
“This isn’t an ending. It’s a starting line. Whatever you chase next we know you’ll find success in. Take the risks. Be kind. Be yourself. And know your family and friends are always right behind you cheering the loudest because you do the same for everybody else! We love you ❤️❤️❤️”
The 48-year-old also posted a photo with Jack on his Instagram story, writing “On my tiptoes” with several laughing crying emojis.
Brady’s other two children — Benjamin and Vivian — also attended the graduation ceremony. He shares his youngest son and only daughter with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. The couple divorced in October 2022.
The eventful day didn’t stop there for Brady.
He was later spotted at MetLife Stadium for the World Cup match between Brazil and Morocco.
Brady was among a crowd of other stars, including Travis Scott and Neymar, the latter of which he greeted and gave a thumbs up to.
Alongside Vivian, Brady was also shown on the broadcast and even performed a seemingly signature handshake with his daughter on camera during the first half. Both were seen wearing Brazil jerseys.
At the half, Brazil and Morocoo have a goal each in what is one of the most highly anticipated group stage matches of this year’s sporting spectacle.

Knicks NBA Finals win would mean big things for Danhausen

The New York Knicks are one game away from securing their first NBA championship dating back to 1973. They’re up 3-1 on the San Antonio Spurs, having secured the largest comeback in NBA Finals history in Game 4. Game 5 takes place tonight (June 13, 2026) in Texas.
A victory would be huge for New York but equally as great for Danhausen.
That’s right, the WWE star who uncursed a team that decidedly felt cursed over the past few decades is getting plenty of credit for their historic postseason. If they can close out the series — and history says it’s all but certain they will do so, statistically speaking — Fightful Select reports WWE has big things in store for the very nice, very evil star who helped them along.
Indeed, there are discussions on how to include Danhausen in the Saturday Night’s Main Event show scheduled for July 18 at Madison Square Garden, the venue the Knicks call home. They’ve also got ideas for merchandise and other content at Fanatics Fest, set for that very same weekend. The man is about to become a New York hero and a staple there when WWE heads to town.
All because he used his powers for the good of the local basketball team.
That deserves all the human monies.
