Jonathan Gerlach, 34. appeared in Delaware County Court wearing a green prison jumpsuit. He looked different than his booking picture. His hair was tied back and shaved. The boyfriend of a missing girl is accused of ignoring her, sending disturbing messages from her phone. During the hearing on Friday, prosecutors dropped the two burglary counts but filed additional charges related to alleged cemetery breaks-ins in Lancaster County and Luzerne County. “Authorities say more than 100 full or partial sets of human and skeletal remains were recovered from Gerlach’s home in Ephrata and a storage unit.FLORIDA MAN ALLEGEDLY STUFFED HUMAN REMAINS IN TWO SUITCASES FOUND IN REMOTE ‘COMPOUND’Some of the remains are believed to be centuries old, while others belonged to infants, according to prosecutors.Police said Gerlach was initially identified after officers conducting surveillance spotted bones and skulls inside his vehicle at Mount Moriah CemeteryInvestigators later observed him leaving the cemetery carrying a burlap bag, a crowbar and other tools. Authorities claim he admitted to stealing 30 sets of remains. The case has been particularly distressing for families who have loved ones buried in Mount Moriah. Judy Prichard McCleary’s ancestors were disturbed. She told The Associated Press that she still thought it was disruptive. Gerlach is behind bars in Delaware County, with bail set at one million dollars, according to FOX 29, but court records do not indicate if Gerlach has entered a guilty plea. A lawyer representing him was not immediately identified on Friday. The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office was not immediately available for comment. According to a newly unveiled criminal complaint. “Last evening, Shamim Mafi of Woodland Hills was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of trafficking weapons on behalf of the Iranian government,” wrote First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli on Sunday, X. “She has been charged with a violation under 50 U.S.C. SS 1705, for brokering the sales of drones and bombs manufactured by Iran, as well as bomb fuses and millions of rounds ammunition sold to Sudan. If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of twenty years in federal prison. She has a sordid past and ties to Iranian intelligence and government. She has a sordid history and connection to Iranian government and intelligence. According to the FBI affidavit Mafi and co-conspirators used Atlas International Business LLC based in Oman to facilitate the deals and routed payment through Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Investigators say this was done to evade U.S. sanction. The complaint states that she was scheduled to leave LAX for Istanbul, Turkey on April 18, and that investigators expected evidence of the alleged plan to be found at her home and on her person.
