Fans of “Euphoria”, who are concerned about the addition of more provocative scenes, have called for the cancellation of the series.
The main focus of the backlash is Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard who, in the new season, adopts the lifestyle of a OnlyFans creator. Sam Levinson, the creator of OnlyFans, has not addressed the criticism directly. However, he has previously defended it, saying that we live in a sexualized world.
Sydney Sweeney has not responded either, despite the fact that she has shown in the past that she is happy to play this role.

Fans of the show “Euphoria” have expressed their dissatisfaction over the way Sam Levinson chose portray Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard.
Some critics have claimed that the show leans towards “disturbing”, “misogynistic”, storylines in relation to Sweeney’s character being featured in even provocative scenes than previous seasons.
In one scene, she is dressed in lingerie as a dog with her legs spread out and her legs arranged in a seductive way.
She also appears in other revealing scenes, such as one in which ice cream drips from her chest, and another in which she is wrapped up in a wet, transparent American flag.
In another scene, she appears to be wearing a thong nude for a shoot that seems to have a baseball theme.
Here are some scenes.

Most fans couldn’t understand why Sweeney performed these scenes despite their highly provocative nature.
One user asked “How is Sydney agreeing to do the season of Euphoria?” and another said “Why would Sydney agree doing allat… weird?”
One netizen who, like so many others, called the scenes a “humiliation ceremony” also said they could not bear to see Sweeney in these situations.
The individual wrote: “Please god, i cant continue to see Cassie degrade herself in the most humiliating ways imaginable.”
Another person called for the cancellation of the show outright, questioning the new storyline.

Sweeney, on her part, seemed to have no problem acting out the scenes as she gushed over her character during the season three premiere.
“I mean Cassie is a crazy character,” said the actress at the time to Entertainment Tonight. “She will do whatever it takes to be famous in this season and she makes some very interesting and wild choices.”
She has also spoken about her raunchy roles in the past, stating that she does not have a problem with such roles and calling out a stigma against actresses appearing nude onscreen.

The movie critics have also been unimpressed by the third season of “Euphoria”, despite the negative reaction from fans.
The New York Post called the storyline “lazy writing” and said that it “sacrificed depth for absurdity.”
The outlet’s review stated that “Euphoria” launched Zendaya, Elordi, and Sweeney into stardom and now brought them back to material that didn’t match their talents.”
Ben Travers, of IndieWire, described the plot as “maddeningly sterile” when compared to previous seasons.
He said, “Most of the characters aren’t evolving, nor are they changing for reasons that are clear to them or novel to ourselves.” The result is an old-fashioned start to the final season, which makes it seem like the show hasn’t changed at all.
Season three of “Euphoria”, currently rated at 40% on Rotten Tomatoes is the lowest-rated of the series. This is about half of the rating for seasons one and 2.

Levinson may not have directly responded to criticism of his show, but it is likely that he has no plans to alter his style given his defense of his work during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
He shared at the time that his work reflects today’s reality, especially how young teenagers are often interested in exploring sexuality by exposing themselves to pornographic materials.
He said, “We live in an extremely sexualized world,” at the festival. “Pornography has a strong influence on the psyches of young people.”
