Charles Manson’s granddaughter reveals ‘devastating’ discovery

Sophia Maddox, in 2022 received a call which changed everything that she believed she knew about herself and her family. She then began to search for information about the most notorious American criminal.
Daniel Arguelles was looking for information about his past as the 22-year old aspiring actress and filmmaker was juggling jobs in Los Angeles. Arguelles, who was raised by his stepfather and mother, had been searching for his biological father. He called Maddox to share a shocking discovery.
Maddox said to Fox News Digital that Maddox had told him he thought he’d found his father. If it is true, then it would be very dark. He wasn’t certain if I would be ready to find out. My dad isn’t a person of darkness. He has never taught me anything dark. If he calls something dark, I think it is dark because it has to be dark. “So I told him to get that out of the way.”
A woman branded ‘female Charles Manson’ has escaped prison; the prosecutor now doubts her conviction
She asked, “Is that Ted Bundy?” She recalled. “He said, ‘Bigger. “Think of the largest movie and director that you are familiar with. “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood” came to mind. I tried to recall the name that was mentioned in the movie. “Charles Manson!” I finally realized.
Maddox instantly Googled Manson’s name. She said the resemblance was uncanny.
Maddox said, “I was thinking to myself, that’s my father.” It was an extremely devastating day.
The Hulu documentary, “My Grandfather Charles Manson,” chronicles Maddox’s journey when she learns that Manson is her grandfather. She meets with people who have direct connections to Manson and his followers to understand more about her family’s history.
Maddox stated that the experience was “cathartic”. “I was a filmmaker even before I knew who my grandfather was. My life was radically changed by this. “I had to speak out at that time, I just couldn’t hold it in.”
Arguelles sent his DNA in 2015 to Ancestry, hoping that they would identify his father. This was a long-standing question for him. He suspected for years that the man who had raised him wasn’t his biological father. When he turned 21, he confronted her about it.

After a few years, Arguelles was almost ready to give up on finding his half-brother when Michael Brunner matched him. Testing confirmed that they were both half-brothers. People magazine said that Brunner was Manson’s child with Mary Brunner. Mary Brunner was one of Manson’s first followers.
Maddox and her father described themselves as “normal working-class citizens.”
Maddox stated, “We don’t have any criminal records.” We grew up artists. “We grew up as artists.” My father showed me his movies and the modeling photos he took of himself photographed by Richard Avedon. It’s only natural to ask yourself, “Am I the same as my grandfather?” when learning that Manson was your grandfather. I’ve been asked, “Were you worried that you would inherit evil or that you are evil?” “But my father and I are both very hardworking, normal people.”
Manson died in 2017, after being convicted for orchestrating the murder of Sharon Tate, a pregnant actress, and six other people in Los Angeles in 1969. The 83-year-old was serving a lifetime sentence.
The Associated Press reports that Manson, a charismatic guru who was a petty offender and had spent time in jail throughout his childhood, surrounded himself with lost souls and runaways in the 1960s. The outlet reported that he sent his followers to slaughter some rich and famous people in a bid, according to prosecutors, to spark a race conflict. He got the idea from a twisted interpretation of “Helter Skelter” by the Beatles.
Manson, despite the overwhelming evidence that was against him maintained his innocence and claimed that it was society that was at fault.

Arguelles, horrified by the revelations about his father’s past, refused to learn more. Maddox was eager to learn more about her grandfather. She was more interested in Manson’s history than the myths surrounding him.
Manson was born to a teenage Kathleen Maddox in 1934. Charles Manson’s biological father, William Manson was not present, so his mother took Charles Manson as her surname. Manson moved in with his relatives after the marriage ended. His mother went to prison because of her involvement in a robbery. In his teens, Manson was already stealing, escaping and going through various juvenile institutions.
He was eventually sent to Indiana Boys School. Manson said that he had been abused and sexually assaulted by his guards while incarcerated as a child. He was sent to prison for theft, forgery and other crimes as an adult.
Manson spent about half of his life in prison or juvenile institutions by the time he was 32 and released in 1967.
Maddox examines previously unreleased recordings that shed new light on Manson’s turbulent childhood.
She explained, “I learned about the abuse my father suffered as a kid from both a reform-school and his parents.” My dad was abused badly, but it was in the 1970s. Imagine how it must have been in the 1940s and 1950s. The treatment of boys at these reform schools was horrifying. The juvenile justice specialist we talked to told us that Manson’s experiences in Indiana were not unique. Manson’s experience was not unique. “That’s the way they learned survival lessons.”

She added, “I was shocked to see how Manson made decisions as an adult and in his 30s based on the survival strategies he had learned in prisons during his childhood.”
Maddox was upset to discover that Manson was being housed with older youths who have violent criminal records. Manson had been instigated for crimes such as running away, theft and stealing.
Maddox: “I was horrified to learn that he had been imprisoned alongside kids who were convicted of murder.” He was in prison for stealing cars, bikes or running away from his home. There were so many older boys with violent histories. What is a child to do in a situation like this? “It breaks my heart.”
People magazine revealed that Arguelles was born in 1959 and learned he is the product of a short relationship between Darlene Arguelles (his mother) and Manson who, at the time was going by the name “Charlie Dear”.
As Maddox began to dig deeper, the searches that brought Maddox and his daughter together in the beginning started to separate them.
Maddox revealed that she and her dad had an argument a week before the production of the documentary started. Arguelles encouraged Maddox to do the documentary in an earlier interview. But she says confronting her biological father’s past was too difficult.

Maddox stated, “I am a bit more distant from Manson as I’m his grandson but he is also my father.” He’s had similar childhood experiences as him. My dad is an extremely sensitive individual. He was just curious. He was curious. He asked me to create this film. “But then, at the same moment, it was too much.”
Maddox stated, “I’m not sure if he has seen the movie.” He hasn’t reached back. “I’m going to sit back, and wait until he does.”
Arguelles said to Fox News Digital, “I’m still proud of Sophia. I support her.” I believe that the fallout between us was due to a disagreement on the narrative. “That’s all I have to say for now.”
On Aug. 9, 1989, the Manson Family murdered five victims at Tate’s house: Abigail Folger (a coffee heiress), Jay Sebring (a celebrity hairdresser), Wojciech Frykowski, the Polish screenwriter, and Steven Parent. Steven Parent was referred to as the caretaker of Tate’s estate. Tate’s spouse, Roman Polanski (director of “Rosemary’s Baby”), was away at the time.
Leno LaBianca and Rosemary LaBianca were killed in the home of a wealthy grocery store owner and his wife.
A trial lasting nearly one year led to the conviction of Manson, Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel, as well as Leslie Van Houten, for murder. They were sentenced death. Charles “Tex” Watson was also convicted of murder and sentenced later to death. After the California Supreme Court abolished the death penalty for the state in 1972, their sentences were commuted into life imprisonment.
Atkins, aged 61 years old, died from cancer while in prison. Van Houten received parole in 2023. Krenwinkel, Watson and others are still in prison.

Maddox says she touched base with the loved ones of victims during filming.
Maddox stated, “I am currently in contact with two of my relatives.” Every interaction I have had with my relatives has been wonderful. The people I met were all very nice to me. They were very kind to me. … “I’m not alone in my search for an answer.”
Maddox stated that Manson’s crimes were never absolved by examining his influences.
She said, “My intent is to never apologize or justify anyone’s action.” I know what my grandpa did.
Maddox explained that understanding Manson’s past was not about excusing him of his crimes, but rather about knowing what made him tick — and possibly preventing further violence.
Maddox explains her choice to change surname in the movie.

She said, “My father and I always tried to find a name for our last names that resonated.” I spent about a year researching my family, and re-looked at the name Maddox. When I googled the name, it said ‘goodness’. My blood name means goodness. It’s mine. That’s mine. “I’m giving new life to it.”

Kroy Biermann steps out for first time since teen son KJ’s sexual assault arrest

This story contains graphic content.
Kroy Biermann has been spotted in public for the first since Kim Zolciak and Kroy Jagger Biermann Jr.’s oldest son was arrested over sexual assault allegations.
Photos obtained by Page Six show the ex-Atlanta Falcons player picking up his son Kash (14 years old) from a football practice in a gym facility near Alpharetta.
Kroy was glued to his smartphone the whole time. He looked down on it as he stood beside the teenager in uniform.
For the event, 40-year-old ex-NFL player wore a casual outfit consisting of a black T-shirt with ripped jeans, and black sneakers.
Kroy’s appearance came almost a week after KJ (15) was arrested last Monday on charges of aggravated sodomy, (a forceful sexual act that involves the mouth or anus), and aggravated sex battery.
Page Six obtained court documents in which a female student accused KJ on the 23rd of April, in Alpharetta’s Life Time Fitness Center.
The girl, who claimed she was “KJ’s girlfriend’s closest friend,” told officials KJ had allegedly forced his way onto her in spite of her refusal. They were both sitting together in a sauna.
In court documents, she claimed that KJ tried “multiple attempts to have sexual relations with her” by pulling down her trousers.
She also claimed that KJ had digitally penetrated her vagina, and forced oral sex on her. When she finally managed to escape him “he pulled his pants up and left.”
In the court documents, it was stated that KJ could be seen in the security footage of the gym on the date in question. However, he didn’t scan in.
According to the police report, when the teenager was examined by North Fulton Hospital in Georgia in April, there was no male DNA evidence in her mouth or vagina.
The police have opened an investigation.
Jason Sheffield claimed in a Friday statement that KJ is “100% guilty” and that “he tried to present evidence, including a polygraph passed by a noted and respected sex offenders polygrapher, to the arresting officers.”
He also said he had “evidence” of false accusations made by the victim in previous years.
The officer’s report also notes that investigators found no evidence of male DNA in or around the area where the victim had claimed to have been assaulted. Sheffield said that the fact he was arrested and being held in jail without bail is tragic.
He is innocent. The lawyer concluded by asking that the public refrain from presuming the truth and give both families their privacy and space.
Zolciak’s 48-year-old son was accused of “deeply disturbing” and “reckless conduct” in an exclusive interview with Page Six.
The allegations made against my child are reckless and disturbing. The statement of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” former star began, “He categorically denied ever having been involved with her or engaging in conduct that she has accused.”
“My son took the polygraph test and passed it voluntarily in response to these accusations.” Zolciak also claimed that an exam was performed and there was no evidence of my son’s DNA.
We are aware of the fact that this person has also made allegations similar to those that were made against two other individuals, raising serious concerns which deserve to be thoroughly examined.
KJ has been held in jail without bail and an appearance is set for September 1.

Raquel Lee alleges sexual assault on Disney Channel set in lawsuit

Raquel Lee, a former child actress, has filed a lawsuit alleging sexual abuse against an ex-Disney employee who, she says, facilitated the attack and covered it up.
A legal complaint, obtained by USA Today, alleges that an alum of “The Amanda Show,” Lee, was sexually harassed on set and assaulted repeatedly when she turned 14 years old.
It does not identify the defendant, but describes him only as “an adult, middle-aged male Disney employee who participated in filming the movie.”
Lee, who is now 39 years old, stated that all the actors and crew stayed in the same hotel while filming the show in Utah. The staffer allegedly invited the girl and her guardian into his hotel under the pretense of practicing lines. The lawsuit claims that she was forced to drink alcohol once in the hotel room.
The lawsuit claims that she returned to her bedroom while “intoxicated” and was later invited to his room by himself, where the rapist allegedly raped. According to the lawsuit, the employee who was accused of assaulting her “was at least twice as old” than she.
Disney has declined to make any comment about the suit.
Douglas Wigdor, Jane Kim and the representatives of Lee provided this statement to USA Today on August 22. “Over the past decade, many child actors bravely shared their experiences with abuse from adults in the entertainment industry. Former government prosecutors have a simple message for the entertainment industry: this conduct is unacceptable, and all those directly involved or indirectly must be held responsible.
A lawsuit claims that not one adult attempted to assist Raquel Lee
In the complaint, the company was accused of failing to protect Lee repeatedly as “not one adult admitted the abuse nor tried to assist her”. It also stated that the “Disney set is not suitable for children.”
Disney, the complaint claims, separated Lee and her guardian from each other for most of the day. They also allowed adults to have interactions with minors in the absence of the guardians.
The complaint states that Disney violated child labor laws by giving Mr. Doe unrestricted access and danger to a minor. Disney did not stop this inappropriate molestation and touching of the child.
In the early 2000s, Lee voiced recurring characters in “The Proud Family”, a Disney Channel animated series. Recently, she returned to voiceover for the Disney+ revival of “The Proud Family” – Louder and Prouder – and attended its red carpet event in Los Angeles.
Lee was delighted to be a part of Disney’s first film featuring a Black American family. The complaint states that working for Disney changed her life forever, but not the way she hoped. The complaint states that “[Lee] went from being a bright and energetic child actor who prepared and memorized her lines to a tired, intoxicated and unwell child. She could no longer focus and could not remember her lines.
Raquel Lee recalled feeling “disposable” on the Amanda Show
Lee described a hostile work environment at Nickelodeon’s “The Amanda Show” in a Business Insider article from 2022. Kate Taylor, a reporter for Business Insider in 2022, reported that Lee was treated as if she were “disposable.”
It’s not just about being human. This is not about the child. “They don’t even care,” Lee replied. They care about the fact that my show is worth a great deal of money and that both my life and job depend on it being successful.
Insider reports that Lee, who was 13 years old at the time of his dismissal from the show, has been let go.
In the documentary “Quiet on Set – The Dark Side of Kids TV” she also reflected on how treated as a Black actress on the series, which ran between 1999 and 2002.

‘Appalling’: Mark Ruffalo denies antisemitism charge from Paramount Skydance over merger criticism

Mark Ruffalo has retaliated against Paramount Skydance, which branded his comments about the merger as antisemitic. Ruffalo called this accusation “appalling” and “fundamentally dishonest.”
Ruffalo said in a post on X Saturday that criticizing an Israeli Prime Minister, a contract for military technology, or executives involved with it, is different from criticizing Jewish People. This critical dialogue, which is necessary and important, then gets framed dishonestly as anti-Israel.
Ruffalo’s social media posts promoting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS), a Palestinian campaign against Israel’s 1967 occupation, are at the root of this dispute.
Safra Katz, Oracle’s executive vice-chair, made comments in the post about the company’s support for Israel after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.
Catz claimed that Oracle made advanced technology available to the Israeli military.
BDS captioned this clip, accusing Oracle as “complicit in crimes against humanity and war crimes — including Apartheid against Palestinians and genocide.”
Ruffalo shared the Instagram post he made on Friday to take aim at Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who supported his son David Ellison in his purchase of Paramount Global via Skydance Media. Ruffalo claimed that Larry Ellison “is using [Oracle] as a way to finance his son David’s Warner Bros purchase.”
Ruffalo said that “these’really terrifying technologies’ are likely to be combined into one of largest media conglomerates around the globe and used one day against you.” Look how [Catz] enjoys what we have now come to call a genocide that was built upon an Apartheid-style system of oppression, powered by Oracle.
Ruffalo called on his supporters to oppose the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger. He argued that it would “catastrophic” for our industry, with job losses, increased cable costs, reduced competition, etc.
A federal judge is evaluating a lawsuit filed by a group of attorneys general from various states challenging the merger on antitrust grounds. This could take place until June next year.
Paramount responded at the weekend by saying that it is “upset when antisemitic tropes in the purported service of an alleged business dispute are invoked.”
Paramount told multiple media outlets that words like “genocide” and “apartheid,” when applied to corporate transactions, were not only wrong, but they went too far and cheapened the real suffering they are intended to describe. This doesn’t merit a similar response — to be clear we do not tolerate any prejudice against anyone.
NBC News has not received a statement from Paramount.
Ruffalo reaffirmed in his response to X on Saturday that his criticism did not target Jews. The merger, he said, “has real implications for people and the country.”
The actor said that scrutinizing the Ellisons and their business, which is based on data, government contracts and surveillance technologies, as well as the threat of editorial freedom, the potential loss of livelihoods for thousands of people, was fair and needed. The $111 billion agreement would give one family the control of CNN, HBO, and Warner Bros. This deal is backed by foreign money, which has not been explained fully to the public.
Paramount’s spokesperson stated that the company had no other comments.
Ruffalo is a long-time critic of Israel’s military actions in Gaza. He uses his social media platform and appearances on public television to bring attention to the suffering that civilians are experiencing there.
He apologized in 2021 for posts on social media that suggested Israel was perpetrating genocide. The statements were inaccurate, offensive, and disrespectful. His criticisms of Israel have become more pointed since then.
A United Nations panel concluded in September that Israel was committing genocide on Palestinians living in Gaza. In the U.S., public opinion has also changed: A Gallup survey conducted in February found that, for the very first time, more Americans sympathized with Palestinians (41%), than they did with Israelis (36%).
Ruffalo is one of thousands in the film industry who have pledged not to collaborate with Israeli institutions that they claim are involved in “genocide and Apartheid” against Palestinians.

‘The Challenge’ star Tyler Duckworth laid to rest in private funeral

Tyler Duckworth, star of “The Challenge”, was buried in a private service at the weekend.
On Saturday, the Augustana Lutheran Church, Grand Forks in North Dakota, hosted a memorial service for the TV personality.
Duckworth’s “Bananas Devenanzio” co-star attended the memorial service and posted emotional photos of behind-the scenes.
Devenanzio (44), was photographed touching a wooden vase with his head down and eyes closed. He was also seen hugging another guest in another photo.
The pamphlet, entitled “Celebrating Tyler’s life,” featured the passage Philippians 4:16-17.
Devenanzio spoke at the funeral, and was photographed at the pulpit.
He captioned his photos, “Lights Will Guide You Home.” “I hope that wherever the lights lead, you will know just how loved you are, and what a part of you we carry forever.
Devenanzio ended his conclusion with “Rest Easy, Brother.”
Greg Bennett-Cesarini was also in attendance, having previously appeared on several episodes of “Real Housewives of New Jersey.”
He remembered via Instagram that he met Duckworth in 2007, and that the latter has been “a presence in [his]life for the past 20 years.”
Bennett-Cesarini referred to the late friend as “the most intelligent person in any room.”
Duckworth’s 44-year-old tragic death on August 11 prompted Devenanzio to write a social media tribute.
You were much more than just a good friend. “You were more than just a friend. “You were the brother I didn’t have,” wrote he, sharing also a collage of Duckworth photos.
Joni, mother of the deceased reality star, wrote on Facebook at the time that the cause of his death was not known.
Duckworth’s body was discovered unresponsive, “up against the front door” according to the Grand Forks Police Department.
Page Six reported previously that Duckworth’s bathtub overflowed and his neighbor downstairs also complained of water leaking from the ceiling.
Officers are unsure how long Duckworth has been dead, although witnesses say they saw him just the day before he was found.
According to the US Sun, he had just undergone a surgery. However, it is unclear whether it was a factor in his death.
Duckworth’s last public appearance was for an event called Challenge Mania in Minneapolis, on the 31st of July.
