IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stuns again with 97 in eliminator
Vaibhav souryavanshi, a teenage sensation who has been batting for years, produced another extraordinary innings of 97 in just 29 balls. This was the score that helped Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad to win the Indian Premier League elimination match. The 15 year old struck 12 sixes and three of them in a single row against Australia ctain Pat Cummins. He was then dismissed in his eighth over. He had seven consecutive boundaries and one more delivery to beat Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest IPL hundred, but he was caught trying an uppercut at deep third. Sooryavanshi was caught at deep third trying an upper cut. He had just reached 50 off 16 balls and looked dejected in the middle. His opponents congratulated him, while the crowd gave a standing plause. Royals were at 125-1 with eight overs left. At the other end, opening partner Yashasvi Jaimewal, a multi-format India international, had scored 25 runs in 20 balls.
“What an innings. Sunil Gavaskar said, “What a player.
“That’s an innings you will remember. A score to remember.
Sooryavanshi’s seventh six in the fourth outing broke the IPL record for most sixes. The previous record was held by Gayle, formerly of the West Indies. Cummins commented, “The margins are very small.” You miss your yorker a little and he tends not to miss them. Fair play.”

Lionel Messis 70ft statue in India to be moved after swaying in wind
The 70ft Lionel Messi statue in India will be removed after it was seen “swaying” in the wind. The monument in Kolkata (West Bengal) was built during Messi’s GOAT tour in December. GOAT is an acronym for ’greatest of time’. Local media reported that engineers from the Public Works Department conducted an inspection on the statue after complaints were made by local residents. After the inspection, the structural integrity of the statue was found to be seriously compromised. Its removal and relocation was immediately ordered. Sharadwat mukherjee, a West Bengal legislator, said that the statue of Argentine football icon was found to be unsafe. We have noticed the statue swaying. Authorities are exploring other locations for this statue that was constructed over the course 27 days by a team of 45. Messi is a highly regarded player and unveiled the statue in a virtual way – by pearing on a screen, pressing a button, on a remote-control – during his December visit to Kolkata. However, the violence that occurred at Salt Lake Stadium overshadowed the event.

IPL 2026: RCB beat Gujarat Titans to reach 2026 final
Rajat Patidar, the ctain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, smashed 93 runs from 33 balls to help the team win the 92-run game against Gujarat Titans. The victory took the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru into the final 2026 Indian Premier League. RCB had a score of 94-3 at the end of the ninth over. Veteran Virat Kohli was out for only 43 runs, but Patidar smashed nine sixes along with five fours to propel his side to a total 254-5. The IPL Play-Off total was highest ever with 126 runs from the final seven overs. Gujarat lost both Shubman Gil, the India Test Ctain, and Sai Sudharsan, the key openers, in the third and the fourth overs, respectively. Gujarat was only beaten by RCB on the basis of net run rate in the league phase. Sudharsan was the leading run scorer in the tournament when his bat fell from his hand while playing a cut-shot and bounced on the stumps. After England’s Jos Buttler had hit four fours and a six, he was bowled for 29 by Australias Josh Hazlewood. This continued a dispointing slide. Gujarat, who started the match at 88-8 and ended up 162, was dismissed in the final ball. Rahul Tewatia scored 68, but the match had already been decided. Gujarat still has a chance to qualify for Sunday’s Final. They will play the victorious team of the Wednesday’s semifinal between Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals.

Gymkhana Club: Delhis most exclusive club is under threat of shutdown – can it survive?
It is expensive to be a member of the Gymkhana, but for many years access was controlled by gatekeeping more than price. The members must first propose and second the plicants. A managing committee then proves their plication. The process has historically favored senior civil servants, military officers and other members of the defence forces. Critics claim this has contributed to maintaining inequality even though it has made Delhi’s Gymkhana membership one of the most sought after.
