Hannah Einbinder Supports Mark Ruffalo After Ellison Criticism

Hannah Einbinder posted a long Instagram story on Monday night in support of Mark Ruffalo, after the Paramount spokesperson accused him of being antisemitic for emphasizing the Ellison’s family connection with the Israeli military and state apparatus.
Einbinder wrote: “I am so thankful that Mark Ruffalo made a link between the Ellisons’ providing military technology during a genocide to Israel and their unprecedented takeover of media-and that they pointed out this dangerous consolidation power which could be used against us.”
The idea that Ellison only spoke out because they are Jewish is ridiculous. Is it antisemitic if you point out Safra Caz, Oracle’s executive vice-chair who boasted of the “profoundly frightening technology” provided to IDF also serves on Paramount’s board? Larry Ellison’s tens-of-millions in donations to Trump’s political campaigns over the years has bought favors with Trump. “Or that he offered Netanyahu an Oracle position with a high salary?”
Einbinder wrote that Ruffalo was criticizing “right-wing technofeudalist media oligarchs” who were in the midst of acquiring the most amount of media in history.
Einbinder concluded her article by stating that the opposition to the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger was also “fighting on behalf of the Hollywood working class: crews, other workers who we claim to be so concerned about. They could lose thousands if the merger goes through.”
She said: “All artists should be like Mark and speak up for the oppressed everywhere.”
Ruffalo also responded to Paramount’s accusations of antisemitism with a long X-post.
He began his X.com interview by saying, “The charge that I’m antisemitic was appalling. It is fundamentally untrue.” Criticizing an Israeli Prime Minister, a contract for military technology, or executives that supply the technology is different from criticizing Jewish people.
Then he added: “It is important to note that my political views are based on my personal convictions, and they should not be misconstrued as hostility towards the Jewish people for whom I feel deep respect and love.”
Ruffalo shared an initial video on the internet that featured Oracle vice-chair Safra Caz discussing the “truly profoundly frightening technology” the company provided to Israel’s military in Gaza during the violent assault.

New iPad Mini With Four Upgrades Expected to Launch by Late October

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to launch a new iPad Mini model this year with an OLED screen “by the middle of October”.
Apple has already upgraded the iPad Pro to an OLED screen in May 2024. However, the iPad Air and the entry-level iPad still have LCD screens. OLED would allow the iPad Mini to have a better image thanks to its richer colors, higher contrast ratio and true blacks.
OLED screens are more expensive in general than LCDs. Therefore, the price of the new iPad Mini could be higher compared to its current version.
Gurman didn’t provide any additional details today about the new iPad mini, but earlier he reported the device would get a different type of speaker and improved water resistance. Rumors also suggest that the next iPad mini will be powered by an A19 Pro, A20 or A20 chip. This is a step up from the A17 Pro in the current version.
Apple Intelligence will be enabled by the A17 Pro processor in this model, which was launched on October 20, 2024.

UK drone factories may face attacks from ‘unknown sources’ says Kremlin advisor

Kremlin advisor: UK drone factories could be attacked by ‘unknown’ sources
Andrei Fedorov is a Kremlin adviser who says that “unknown” sources may have retaliated “semimilitarily” against UK drone factories over sharing of military blueprints.
The UK prime minister Andy Burnham said he would travel with other European leaders next month to the US to discuss Ukraine’s defense needs.
Burnham told Bloomberg in an interview that he was looking forward to visiting New York, where the UN General Assembly is meeting, when it will be held, September.
While the “details” are not “fully confirm”, he said it was “likely”. This would be the first trip to America since he became prime minister.
He said, “I’m clear about what I have to do over the next couple of weeks,” following his visit to Ukraine, where he had promised to keep up pressure on Russia.
UK also agreed to provide blueprints of British components used in the Scalp cruise missile. This is a French variant of UK’s Storm Shadow missile. These blueprints allow Ukraine to manufacture the long-range missile domestically.
Fedorov, a former Russian deputy minister of foreign affairs, stated that Putin is under “serious pressure” to “take certain measures against UK”. Fedorov replied to BBC Newsnight when asked where pressure is coming from: “public opinion surveys, journalists and mass media”.
Fedorov responded that a semi-military response could be in the form of a factory producing drones to Ukraine.
He said that “they could be attacked by unknown sources, not Russia.”
These comments echo those of Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who criticised UK decision to release missile blueprints on Monday. Peskov stated that it hindered “even the slightest” progress towards peace.
On Monday, he told journalists that the Russian military had already begun gathering information to find any sites of missile manufacturing and destroy them.
The British government is fighting this war for the Kyiv regime. He added that Britain “systematically and consistently adds fuel” to the flame.
Burnham replied: “Who set the fire?” Isn’t that the question?
Burnham’s first international trip was to Ukraine. Burnham met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, and presided over his first “coalition meeting” of his predecessor Sir Keir starmer.
Burnham reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to Ukraine following the recent escalation of Russian attacks, including the one that took place last week at a shopping center and killed 16 people.
Ukraine relies on American Patriot missiles to counter Russia’s missiles. However, due to the conflict in Iran, the stockpiles of these missiles have been depleted, making Ukraine more vulnerable to Russian attack.
Zelensky said that he hopes to acquire 300 Patriot missiles before winter when Russia will likely increase their attacks on the energy infrastructure as they have done in previous years.
Burnham told Bloomberg that in an interview he was “really convinced” that this issue could be “fixed”. Burnham said that the US was not the only country capable of supplying Patriots to Ukraine.
He said that there are players in the mix with whom we can influence. It’s likely to involve a complex solution and lots of negotiations.
Trump retracted his offer in July of this year. Three weeks after offering Ukraine to manufacture Patriots themselves, he said, “We did not agree to that.” It’s something we are discussing. It’s hard to give that technology away.
These weapons are amazing. Trump said at a Cabinet meeting that we must be careful who builds them.
Burnham, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made a statement following the Ukraine meeting that stated the group’s goal to strengthen Kyiv’s air defenses as an “urgent priority”.
The EU also denounced Moscow for its “systematic and escalating attacks against Ukraine’s civilians, cities and critical infrastructure” and promised to “contain Russia’s war chest by sanctions and action against the “shadow Fleet”.
Burnham, in a press release issued ahead of his visit, said that the UK stands behind the Ukrainians today and forever.
The Ukrainians should hear directly from me, “I’m proud of what our country has done for Ukraine. Our support is unwavering.” “After all, Ukraine is also our security.”
He added that the friendship between Ukraine and the UK “would outlast Russia’s illegal war”, saying: “Russia shouldn’t doubt our resolve.” We won’t back down until a lasting and just peace is achieved.

UK to share missile tech with Ukraine, says PM Andy Burnham

LONDON, UK (AP) – British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced Monday that Britain will assist Ukraine in making its own long range missiles through the sharing of classified technical data for British components.
Burnham was present in Kyiv with other leaders to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day. He said that MBDA would release information on parts made by the UK for the SCALP rocket to Ukraine, to assist the country assemble these weapons.
Experts say, however, that this won’t lead to operational missiles anytime soon — nor will it address Ukraine’s urgent needs in the war against Russia’s full-scale invader.
What you need to know about these missiles, and the significance of the news for Ukraine
The SCALP is a missile
SCALP is the French version of Storm Shadow (a high-precision, air-launched missile) from the U.K. It has a range greater than 250 km. The two share French and British technologies.
According to MBDA, the missile measures 5.1 metres (16,7 feet) and is intended to strike fixed or stationary targets, such as bunkers, key infrastructure and hardened bunkers. The missile is said to be extremely accurate and uses an advanced navigational system, according to MBDA.
Storm Shadow missiles and SCALP are used by the British, French, and Italian air force, and other exporting countries. These missiles have been deployed in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
It is unlikely that the missiles will be available until next year.
Ukraine has already begun talks with France. France recently announced that it would help Kyiv set up an assembly line for missiles so Kyiv could produce its own versions of weapons. The plans have not been developed to a certain extent, nor is it known when the missiles will be operational.
The impact of the SCALP missiles assembled in Ukraine will depend, at least partially, on their speedy introduction into service. This was stated by Douglas Barrie a Senior Fellow with the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
Arun Dawson is a researcher with the Freeman Air and Space Institute of King’s College London. He said that the news will not help Ukraine get through the winter and won’t have an impact until at least next year.
He said that Ukraine needed protection against Russian missiles.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian president, said that his country receives significantly fewer Patriot missile defense systems despite an increase in Russian attacks. This is especially serious, as the United States’ and European partners struggle to increase production.
Dawson explained that a SCALP can give Ukraine a deep-strike offensive capability. He said that the SCALP missile could be used to destroy Russian launch sites for ballistic rockets.
Matthew Savill of the Royal United Services Institute in London, who is director of military science, said that Ukraine’s development of ballistic missiles and cruise weapons will add to its firepower, as drones are slow and less stealthy.
Savill explained that a weapon such as a SCALP “has an advanced warhead, and it strikes at the target with a high velocity which allows it to penetrate hardened targets and destroy them in a manner a drone slower without a warhead cannot do at this time.”
Russia was furious at the British announcement made on Monday. Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin’s spokesman, accused Burnham of “fanning” the flames of war in Ukraine.
Burnham, a reporter on Monday, asked: “Who was the cause of this fire?”
Since 2023, the UK has provided missiles to Ukraine
In 2023, Britain donated Storm Shadow missiles in Kyiv to become the first nation to provide longer-range attack weapons to Ukraine. These missiles allowed Ukraine to hit targets far behind front-line lines in Russia, and in Russian occupied Crimea.
In other ways, the U.K. also helps Ukraine to develop low-cost weapons.
The British Defense Industry has been testing a ground-launched attack system with a powerful warhead weighing 225 kilograms (496 pounds) that can reach targets at a distance of more than 500 km (310 miles).
