Desert street racing circus crushed — cops swarm late-night takeover, suspects hauled off and rides seized

In New York City, police launched an inquiry into a massive takeover of Queens’ streets that drew over 100 cars in the early morning, with drivers spinning around and crowds flooding intersection. Chicago alderman says police are ‘handcuffed’ from stopping teen takeovers under Mayor Brandon Johnson

If the mayor does not take action, the city will be in for a long, brutal summer of teen street takeovers. He said that policies in Chicago prevent the police from handling teen takeovers correctly. Lopez said that he did not think Mayor Brandon Johnson was doing enough to curb these activities. “What we’ve seen is that Chicago has become a destination for illegal street takesovers, where hundreds of youths are encouraged to descend upon a location. Whether it’s illegal street takesovers with our cars or other criminal activities, people know to visit here. He said, “They know they can get by with it and they know our police are often handcuffed from stopping and intervening at these events.” FOLLOW THE FOX TRULY CRIME TEAMS ON XLopez stated that Chicago police officers were not allowed to “fully interact” with those taking part in teen takeovers. Lopez said that “we’ve never done the necessary to authorize our police officers to fully engage” with these individuals. They can’t box them in or corral them to prevent them from escaping, arrest them, or impound their vehicle as required by law. “We have never looked into who is behind these social media promotions.” We know they are spread on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and other social media, but we do little to find out who is behind the posts. ABC 7 News reported that a video taken in Chicago’s Gresham area over the weekend showed a large crowd surrounding a burned-out car. One person was seen throwing a piece of debris into the car that was engulfed by flames and exploded seconds later. Johnson wrote: “Chicago there are credible reports that a teen-trend is forming in Hyde Park today,” Johnson wrote to X. “Parents be aware of your children’s plans for this evening. Do not allow your children to go to one of these gatherings. Myrtle Beach man with lengthy arrest record charged with stabbing two people in popular beach destination

According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, two people were injured in the attack. According to booking records reviewed by Fox News Digital, Keitt has a lengthy arrest record, with at least four bookings into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center since June 2025. The previous charges range from allegedly trespassing, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest or serving process, first-degree assault and battery, loitering, and unlawful entry onto posted land. According to Fox News Digital’s review of booking records, Keitt is a long-time arrestee, with at least 4 bookings in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center between June 2025 and now. The previous charges range from allegedly trespassing to assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, or serving process to first-degree assault and batter, loitering and unlawful entry onto a posted land. Sheriff leading Nancy Guthrie probe admits quitting past police job to dodge discipline

The Pima County Board of Supervisors asked the sheriff to answer questions following allegations of perjury that emerged after his deposition for a First Amendment lawsuit filed against him by Sgt. Former Prosecutor James Cool said that Nanos misunderstood what the question was asking. He has never been fired from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department during his career, which began in 1984. Cool admitted that he had been suspended multiple times in his previous role at the El Paso Police Department, Texas. He resigned in 1982 in order to avoid further disciplinary actions. “However Sheriff Nanos was previously suspended by the El Paso Police Department more than 40 years ago.
