Gigi Hadid’s Met Gala looks have always been about the transformation

2024For Sleeping Beauties 2024: Reawakening Fashion Hadid went for drama with a sculptural Thom Browne-inspired look, a crisp white off-the shoulder gown with a corseted bottom. The skirt was a collage of jackets stitched together, with 3D yellow flower and winding vines. Hadid wore a long halterneck number by Dimitris Giannetos with a silhouette that echoed Anna Sui’s fall glam 2025. Gabriella Karefa Johnson styled the custom Miu Miu dress in gold sequins, which was inspired by Zelda Wynn-Valdes’ design language. A wedding in Mexico with Hindu-Catholic rituals and guests who ended the night in the pool

Deepa Dhore, Thomas McGowan, and their families were planning a wedding for them in Mexico. They wanted to incorporate the many influences that had shaped the couple’s relationship: the city in which they met, New York, cultural traditions that they wanted to honor, and habits that had formed their relationship. The result was an intimate celebration at Rosewood Mayakoba, which felt personal without being overdesigned. Dhore and McGowan both live in Manhattan where she is in venture capital while he works in investment banking. “Keeping our deals apart” is how they manage to balance a shared life with demanding careers. Friends describe Dhore and McGowan as “driven and energy” and “calm, grounded and with funny one-liners”. Together, they’re “competitive in a good way,” always challenging each other but “deeply supporting through it all.” Their story began at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, with a seemingly innocuous errand. Dhore remembers that during the first week of classes, a classmate asked him to casually check if Tom was still single. “What began as a simple mission quickly became an interesting conversation. The coincidences happened later. Both had grown up in Wilton Connecticut, a small town of less than 20,000 residents, but they never met. Even their phone numbers had the same area code. After years of planning, they met in a new city. They felt “guided” by an invisible thread. The relationship began to settle down gradually. In New York their lives moved at a faster pace, but their relationship remained the same. They would order Chinese takeout every Friday, play tennis on Saturdays, and spend the occasional Sunday making TikToks on Dhore’s request. Dhore explains that “we never stopped choosing each in small, consistent, ways.” “After long workdays, all we wanted to do was unwind and see each other,” they say. In a city like Manhattan, these moments became our constant. The proposal took place in Tenerife. A walk turned spontaneously into a football match. McGowan won. Dhore, angry, walked on in silence. McGowan says, “What she didn’t realise is that I was carrying the ring the whole time.” He stopped, knelt down and proposed. “The moment was magical, but also true to us,” Dhore explains. “It was rooted in playfulness.

The 20 best tinted sunscreens for a one-step morning routine

We can all agree tinted sunscreens are changing the way we get ready. The best tinted sunblocks blur the lines between skincare and makeup by providing protection, coverage, and a polished look in one step. These formulas are a far cry from the tacky formulas and restrictive shade ranges. They have breathable textures and shade-inclusive ranges, and skin-first, treatment-focused ingredients. This primer-meets SPF formula visibly blurs and smooths uneven texture while controlling excess oils. The sheer tint gives a soft radiance and is perfect for those who don’t want to layer products.

10 books on critical thinking that will make you never want to use ChatGPT again

Last year, I stopped logging books on Goodreads. I was tired of failing to meet my reading goal year after year. The joy of reading a book would be instantly overshadowed by the disappointment that I had not finished it in the time allotted. My reading was solely to generate data on me, as though it were a performance before the machine. It felt as if my entire literary pursuit had only been deemed valuable when reduced to user stats. This is exactly what the algorithm wants, that we stop thinking for our selves. The less we contribute to the scroll, we become more impressionable to the discourse. We are supposed to forget that there is a world outside of these echo chambers, and become increasingly dismissive towards opinions that differ from our own. In such an environment, reading and critical thinking become small acts of independence. Reading is the only way to develop original thinking. Here is a list of books which will help you think for yourself. Exquisite Cadavers is a novel that is both a work of fiction and criticism. It is a novel about two young people navigating their love in London. Being able to hold opposing perspectives without collapsing them is a key skill of awareness. This is also the structure of the novel, which creates alternate spaces for the author’s two lines of thinking. Kandasamy draws on a rich literary history to place her work at a crossroads between creating and critiquing. She has similar goals for the reader.

Why yoga (and Pilates) is just as important as strength training with weights

As evidenced by the number of boutique Pilates studios in London, Mumbai and Los Angeles, low-impact workouts like yoga and Pilates are more popular than ever. More and more people are opting for the calm of a reformer or yoga class instead of the shouty HIIT workouts. Dr Vicente Mera is a longevity specialist at Sha Wellness Clinic. He suggests focusing on three different areas. David de la Fuente Franco is a sport scientist from the University of Nebrija and he believes that the formula to remember is a 2:1:1 ratio. If you have the time, you can try to do two strength workouts in a week, two cardio workouts, and one stretching or meditation session. For example, you could start your week with a spin or jog on Monday, and then a relaxing Friday morning yoga class can be an excellent way to end a busy week. She says that both workouts help us to improve our balance and stability. Yoga for longevityExperts on longevity also praise a regular practice of yoga. Dr Nigma Talib is the author of Reverse the Signs of Ageing. She says that there are studies that show two 90-minute sessions of yoga per week can reduce inflammation by up to 20%. Harvard research shows that yoga can help you develop a positive relationship with yourself and your body by focusing on self-awareness and meditation. Stretching improves your training in generalStretching is an essential part of any low-impact workout and, as previously mentioned, incorporating it into your routine will have positive knock-on effects on other workouts. According to osteopath Francisco Moreno, stretching helps improve flexibility and strengthen muscles over time. “Strong muscles adapt to the demands of daily exercise and movement,” he says. This will not only reduce your risk of injury but also increase the effectiveness of your workouts. Regular stretching improves your muscle coordination, recovery and blood circulation. It also reduces daily aches and discomforts. This story was first published on Vogue.es.

Are we all just watching Euphoria season 3 for Maddy?

You’ll find that people who have watched Euphoria Season 3 will all have very different opinions. Some find it visually sumptuous, a kaleidoscopic delight fit for the big screen. Others call it a “grubby and humourless work that is obsessed with sex work and repulsed by it”. For many, including myself, it’s a bit of both: stunningly beautiful but a bit gnarly at times. We can all agree that there is one thing. Alexa Demie, 35, plays the character Maddy Perez who is the baddest and most captivating. We only hear her for a half-hour. AKA the real MVP in Euphoria’s third season. The action takes place five years after the characters left high-school, and Maddy is now working at a Hollywood agency. Despite her modest income, Maddy’s wardrobe is full of sheer blouses, sleek basics and gold crucifixes. Her fringe was gelled and pressed to a perfect “C”, on her forehead. Natasha Newman Thomas, Euphoria costume designer, told British Vogue Maddy was her favorite character to dress, largely because Demie is a “fashion dictionary”. Redditors have already started to track down her on-screen looks, probably because it feels the most “now”. Newman-Thomas explained to the New York Times that an entry-level employee appears so high-class by wearing Jimmy Choo shoes and perhaps her boss is throwing away her Gaultier suit from the ’90s. Maddy is ambitious, but she keeps her cool. She’s astute and nonchalant. She gets her job in the way that most of us only imagine in our distorted daydreams. She tracked down her prospective employer and sat next to her at a coffee shop. She says, “I know that my generation is entitled to certain things, but I do not believe anyone owes anything to me.” She says, “I won’t be a HR nightmare. I believe in capitalism. I’m not a vicitm. She knows what a Gen Xer who is time-poor, over it and generally cynical wants to hear. After inviting Maddy for a drink, ostensibly to apologise for stealing her boyfriend, she goes on to mine her for advice on how to make it as an OnlyFans girl-slash-influencer. She knows that Maddy’s opinion, with her sharp eye for details and blunt delivery, could significantly boost her success. Maddy, resplendent with a vintage Dolce & Gabbana Bustier and an overlined lips, says that the market is already saturated with girls like Cassie. She then suggests Cassie has bad taste. Cassie asks, “What do you think ‘taste” means?” Maddy replied with an eyebrow raised, “The ability of discerning quality and a high standard of aesthetics.”
