Illegal immigrant suspected in Chandra Levy murder may have escaped justice after botched probe: detective

Federal prosecutors say that the prime suspect was an illegal immigrant who had been convicted of assaults on other women in the same park around the time of Levy’s suspected murder. Federal prosecutors say that the prime suspect was an illegal immigrant who had been convicted twice of assaults against other women in the same park around the time Levy was suspected of being murdered. He told Fox News Digital that while they did conduct a grid-search of Rock Creek Park in May 2002, they didn’t go down into the ravine where Chandra Levy was found. “And the only reason those remains were found was because a man walking his dog came across them.” We may still be searching for Chandra Levy if we didn’t do that. Williams said that if a more thorough search grid had been conducted earlier, investigators might have been able recover physical evidence linking a suspect to the crime. “25 years later, due to the way and the recklessness in which the investigation was conducted, we still have a question mark about who killed Chandra Levy,” said Williams. She was last seen at a gym in Washington, D.C., near her apartment, on April 30th, 2001. Investigators tracked her Internet usage the next morning and found that she was still alive as of 1 p.m., May 1, 2001. On May 6, her parents contacted D.C. Police and their congressman Gary Condit. Condit is a California Democrat, who later allegedly had an affair with the woman. It was impossible to reach him. Williams said that the congressional connection likely caused investigators to be distracted by the scandal. He said that because he was a congressman, the officers were intimidated and were unable to get much information from him. They later cleared him and focused on another man. In April 2009, police arrested an illegal immigrant named Ingmar Guiandique (also known as Ingmar Guiandique-Blanco) who had attacked women in Rock Creek Park at the time of Levy’s murder. He was convicted of attacking two other women with a blade in the park, one on May 14 – two weeks after Levy’s murder – and another on July 1 – a decade later. Listen to the new ‘CRIME AND JUSTICE WITH DONA ROTUNNO PODCAST’ The case was dropped and Immigration and Customs Enforcement returned him to El Salvador. Find out more on the TRUE CRIME HUB. “They deported him perhaps because he was a killer, rather than putting him on trial for a second time,” Williams stated. This is also a mystery. “While he still believes Guandique to be an important suspect, the official case remains unsolved after 25 years.CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD FOX NEWS APPIt’s very clear to me that the family will not be able get over the loss of this promising young intern who came to Washington to work,” Williams said.Fox News Stephanie Nolasco contributed to this article.

Florida high school teacher accused of having sex twice with student on campus

The student reportedly told investigators the pair started communicating via the social media messaging app Snapchat. She then summoned the boy to her classroom and asked him about the messages. She then began flirting with him and the pair had sex in her classroom twice over the course of four or five weeks, Gulf Coast News reported.Mashburn-Smith confessed to the crimes and was charged with Unlawful Activity with Certain Minors, the sheriff’s office said. The charge, which is usually a second-degree felon under Florida law, has been elevated to a first degree felony due to Mashburn Smith’s position as teacher. Charlotte County Public Schools Superintendent Mark Vianello issued a statement saying that they would not tolerate any action that compromised student safety. “This individual has now been placed on administrative leaves as we work closely and pursue full accountability with law enforcement.” Vianello concluded that the focus of the school is to protect students and respond quickly. According to Florida penal codes, a first-degree charge for Unlawful Activities with Certain Minors carries a maximum prison sentence of 30 years. Teachers are supposed to be people students can turn to for guidance, mentorship, and encouragement. In a statement, CCSO Sheriff Bill Prummell stated that the individual preyed on a person she was entrusted with protecting. “We take this very seriously in Charlotte County and I applaud the Major Crimes Detectives for their quick actions to investigate, make an arrest, and intervene,” Prummell concluded. Fox News Digital contacted CCSO for more information but did not receive a reply.

Texas executes convicted killer claiming innocence as cousin’s last-minute confession falls flat

NEWYou can now hear Fox News articles. A Texas man who maintained innocence in a fatal robbery which killed two men almost two decades ago, was executed this week. The Associated Press reported that James Broadnax died by lethal infusion at the state prison in Huntsville, at 6:47 p.m. on Thursday. The Associated Press reported that Broadnax was executed just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to spare his life at the last minute, despite a request from Broadnax’s attorneys. Broadnax said to the families of the victims in his final statement, “I prayed for your forgiveness.” “Despite what you may think about me, my prayer to God was answered. No matter what you may think about me, Texas is wrong. The facts of my case should be enough to prove that I am innocent. Period. “TEXAS JURY RETURNS VERDICT in 2022 STABBING DEAD OF HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE REPORTBroadnax, a former high school classmate of Butler’s, was convicted for the 2008 shooting death of Stephen Swan outside Butler’s studio in suburban Dallas. The prosecution claims that Broadnax, along with his cousin Demarius Cummings killed the two men in an armed robbery at the recording studio’s parking area. “FOLLOW X” Throughout Broadnax’s trial, officials cited rap lyrics in which he referred to robbing and killing, as well as selling drugs. This led to an appeal by Broadnax’s defense, claiming that his constitutional rights were disregarded. Rappers Travis Scott and Killer Mike also supported the appeal. Broadnax’s attorneys pinned their hopes on Cummings’ recent admission that he was the one who fired the gun. They also claimed that their client’s rights were violated at his trial because several potential jurors had been eliminated based on race. Cummings claimed that he shot Matthew Bullard and Steve Swan in a video created to stop Broadnax from being executed. The defense also claimed that prosecutors in Broadnax’s trial targeted all seven Black jury members in the case by “using a spreadsheet at jury selection which bolded only names of all Black jurors,” according to court records. One Black juror eventually was reinstated.CLICK FOR MORE US NEWS Theresa Butler, Matthew Butler’s mother, remained resolute in her request that the execution of Broadnax’s killer proceed as planned. This so-called confession by Cummings was just a stalling tactic used by Broadnax’s desperate defense team. Theresa Butler said in a post on social media that it was all a lie. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, and Broadnax’s lawyer did not immediately respond when Fox News Digital asked for comment.
