Emirates Expands Global Travel Rehearsal Programme to the UK

Emirates, the first Autism-Certified Airline in the world, launched its “Travel Rehearsal”, a programme that allows people with accessibility requirements to experience an interactive simulation of a complete air travel journey. This helps reduce anxiety and builds confidence before boarding a flight. In partnership with Hertfordshire’s St Elizabeth’s Centre special needs school, several students with autism spectrum disorder and their families experienced Emirates’ travel journey at Stansted from check-in to the departure gate. The students and their families were accompanied by airport and airline personnel as they walked through the check-in, security, and departure lounge. The students and their families also experienced immigration, baggage pick-up, and meet and greet. As part of Emirates “Accessible Travel for All”, the Travel Rehearsal program aims to make air traveling more predictable and comfortable for those on the autism spectrum. This global program aims to break some of the invisible travel barriers that people with neurodivergence face. It will give them more confidence and help open up the world for more people to discover. I’d like thank the Emirates Airport Services Stansted team for their role in bringing to life this initiative, in collaboration with our partner, to help make air traveling more inclusive.” ADVERTISEMENTLisa Toley, Headteacher of St Elizabeth’s Centre added: “Airports are overwhelming and stressful environments, for people with disabilities and accessibility requirements, as well as their families. These experiences are vital for those who might otherwise not be able to travel. We’re very grateful to Emirates and Stansted Airport for hosting this valuable and empowering experience.”Stephanie Putt, London Stansted Airport Accessibility Manager, commented: “It’s been fantastic working with Emirates on this excellent initiative, and we’re so grateful to St Elizabeth’s school for their wonderful support. This project will help the airport remove travel barriers for not only Emirates customers but also anyone who relies upon assisted travel. By learning from this trial in a live airport setting, we can continue to strengthen accessibility and make the journey smoother and more welcoming for all passengers.”Accessible Travel for AllEmirates became the world’s first Autism-Certified Airline after more than 35,000 cabin crew and ground staff completed specialised autism awareness training. The programme provides employees with a thorough understanding of the autism spectrum and common misconceptions. It also provides them with personalised support strategies tailored for individual passenger needs.

Protein coffee might just be the easiest hack to help you hit your protein goals

The first time I heard “proffee”, it made me gag. The term, which is a contraction of protein-coffee, was a sensation in the wellness world at the time it was first introduced. What did it mean? Are protein-obsessed people now piling Greek yoghurt dollops on top of their cold coffee? Or swirling eggwhites into their flat black? It turned out that neither was the case. Most people underestimate the amount of protein they consume. Current recommendations suggest that adults should consume between 0.8 and 1.5 grams per kilogram of weight per day. This depends on their age and level of activity. A sedentary individual should aim for between 0.8 and 1.2 grams per kilogram of body weight, while an active individual could increase this number from 1.5 to 1.7 grams. Two eggs for breakfast, while full of micronutrients, only contain 14 grams of protein. Since incorporating protein into my morning routine, I have easily hit 33 grams of protein before leaving the house. I am well on my way to achieving my daily goal 95 grams. You can mix a scoop of powder into the milk while it is heating. When the milk is warm, add an espresso shot or two and froth it up to create a velvety smooth flat white. I prefer iced coffee so I put my milk (hazelnut if you like) in my blender along with three scoops. Once it’s frothy enough, I pour the mixture over two shots decaf espresso with two large ice-cubes. The protein powder gives milk a richer and more dairy-like flavor, similar to an old-fashioned vanilla shake. The powder I use is not too sweet or sickly because it doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners and flavours. What are the benefits of drinking protein coffee?Eating sufficient protein is linked to improved metabolism and immune function. It also helps maintain muscle mass and stabilizes mood. It helps you feel fuller longer, reduces cravings, and improves recovery between workouts. Protein powder is a convenient way to get your daily protein intake without having to prepare a meal. However, nutritionists and dieticians do not recommend relying on it. Experts recommend choosing whole food sources of protein like eggs, fish, lean meats and tofu over ultra-processed options like protein powder. When you’re in a hurry (or if you’re struggling with your protein intake), a protein-rich coffee can help.

I still regret dating my best friend’s ex, even though we really fell in love

I was terrified by her reaction, knowing that it was an absolutely horrible thing to do. On the following Monday, she brushed it off. She said, “I ended things.” I took this as permission and fell head over heels. It was the kind a first love where you talk about baby names and then scream at each other for a imagined indiscretion. He was all I thought about and talked about. This created tension between Sadie and me. At first, she rolled her eyelids and pretended to not care. Her ego was clearly bruised by the development. But soon, her behaviour changed and she became more reserved at school. She would get drunk and then throw herself on Tom to see if she could “steal him back”. She then started doing the same thing with other friends’ boyfriends. She was apparently determined to prove to herself that she could also steal someone from someone else. All these attempts at karmic vengeance only led to her being slowly pushed out of the group. She and I never talked about what happened. Both at the time and years later, I would justify myself by believing that I was in a relationship. As a romantic at heart, this made it all okay. My relationship with Tom was marked by certain milestones. First, it was how long we had been dating. Then, it was about the big firsts, like having sex, getting to know the parents, and going on vacation together. If we were going to the end, I thought it didn’t matter that he had dated my friend before. The rest of my friends didn’t seem to care, and largely followed the same logic as I did. Tom and Sadie had a brief, insignificant encounter. It was a life-changing, transformative, and earth-shattering experience between us. Until it wasn’t. We broke up three and a quarter years ago, and I haven’t spoken to or seen him since. I will never be able to tell if dating the ex of my best friend was worth losing her. I look back at that time and feel great sympathy for Sadie. She did nothing wrong but poorly communicate her feelings about the situation, and then acted out of hurt. I was a teenager too, but does that make me any less guilty?

Girl, 14, found in singer D4vd’s car died of ‘multiple injuries’

After months of speculation, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office announced on Wednesday that the girl found in D4vd’s car had died from “multiple penetrating wounds”. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Wednesday that they had ruled Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death as a homicide. They noted that the 14-year old died from injuries caused by a non-disclosed object or objects. She was found dead inside the front boot of the Tesla registered to TikTok Star D4vd (21), in September. The singer faces several charges, including murder, in relation to her death. David Anthony Burke, D4vd’s real name, has pleaded innocent. His attorneys have said they will “vigorously” defend his innocence. Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s family provided this image. The defence team for the musician believes that the “actual evidence” will show David did not murder Celeste and was not responsible for her death. Blair Berk’s attorneys Marilyn Bednarski, Regina Peter and Regina Peter issued a statement in which they said that they would vigorously defend David’s innocence. Burke is scheduled to return to Los Angeles court Thursday at 830 local time (1630 BST). Investigators at the Medical Examiner’s Office had examined Rivas’s body shortly before she was discovered in September. They determined the cause and manner on 9 December, but were prohibited from releasing the information publicly while police investigated the case. The charging documents state that prosecutors allege that the teen’s body was dismembered and killed sometime around 5 May 2025. This is at least four months prior to her body being discovered. Chief Medical Examiner Odey Ukpo stated in a press release that she was grateful for the information being released to the public and to the grieving families. It is incomprehensible that they had to wait so long to find out what happened to their daughter, said Ukpo. He had previously criticised the decision not to release their findings. The report contains some new information about her remains. Forensic teams discovered shredded blue plastic within some of her wounds. The report states that her body had been found in a black zip-top bag in the trunk of the Tesla. A toxicology report found methamphetamine, or MDMA, and a low alcohol level in her system. However, it noted that neither seemed to have played a role in the death. They thanked the police and prosecutors, as well as the residents of Lake Elsinore, for their support over the past months. “Celeste loved to sing and dance. She was a beautiful girl with a strong personality. In a statement, her parents Jesus Rivas & Mercedes Martinez said that every Friday night was movie time and they spent wonderful times with her. “We love her very, and she told us she loved us all the time. We miss her deeply. We want justice for Celeste. “Family Attorney Patrick Steinfeld said in a BBC statement that the family had been “devastated” after hearing the gruesome facts that were revealed in David Burke’s trial. Nathan Hochman, Los Angeles’ District Attorney, said at a press conference that the teen had gone to Burke’s Hollywood Hills home on 23 April 2025. “She was never heard from ever again”. Hochman said that it is “a parent’s worst nightmare” when their daughter leaves for the night and never returns. Her parents reported her missing in April, but it was not until September that she was found dead. The singer of Here With Me and Romantic Homicide was arrested in Los Angeles by police last week after more than seven months. His world tour was canceled and he lost deals with brands. Getty ImagesLos Angeles Police Department chief Jim McDonnell defended the agency’s handling and why it took such a long time to make an arrest on Monday. “I want to make something clear. My duty isn’t to fuel speculation. It is to deliver justice and that requires patience, discipline and everyone’s help,” he said. “This investigation was driven solely by the desire to bring justice to Celeste Rivas, and those who loved her. We had to make sure that nothing we said or did would jeopardize this case. “He said that the conditions of the teen’s body delayed the determination of her cause of death, because “a substantial amount of time” passed between her death ad the discovery of her corpse. This caused evidence to degrade or disappear. Hochman also noted that there were issues in the case which delayed charges being filed. When asked by the BBC to explain those issues, Hochman cited the difficulty of interviewing multiple people – some of whom are “cooperative” while others are not – and looking at all the available evidence. “It’s the type of case that you went to get maximum information,” he said, asking anyone with any additional information to come forward.Singer D4vd confirmed as ‘target’ of investigation into murder of teenSinger D4vd arrested on suspicion of murdering teenage girlCultureLos AngelesUnited StatesCaliforniaMusic

Labour MPs are increasingly restless – but aren’t ready to oust Starmer yet

Labour MPs are increasingly restless – but aren’t ready to oust Starmer yet16 hours agoIain Watson, political correspondent,Henry Zeffman, chief political correspondent,Jack Fenwick, political correspondentandJoe Pike, political correspondentReutersLabour is trailing in the polls and the prime minister’s personal ratings have plumbed the depths. The party is facing losses in forthcoming elections: losing control of Wales, shedding councillors in England, and going into reverse in Scotland. To put the tin lid on it, the prime minister has been on the back foot over his appointment of Lord Mandelson to the job of ambassador to the US, and the subsequent sacking of senior civil servant, Sir Olly Robbins, in a row over security vetting. So the question being asked around Westminster is not ‘should there be a Labour leadership contest?’ Labour MP Jonathan Brash has called for Sir Keir’s resignation and for him to set a timeline for his departure. Some others have agreed with this privately.Nonetheless it is significant that no-one is publicly echoing Brash’s call and the prevailing mood seems to be against an imminent leadership challenge. One long-standing Labour MP has his take: “Keir Starmer is basically dead, isn’t he? There is no rush because people believe that it is inevitable he will not lead us to the next election. Many MPs are reluctant to have a caretaker leader. As one of them said: “We need to be certain that we have a candidate to lead us into the next election.” “They said that it would be disastrous to trust if the Party ‘chopped-and-changed’ and that trying to find a candidate who can reinspire the Party, let alone the voters, has proven elusive. Wes [Streeting] is out of options because of Mandelson – despite the data dump he provided of his text messages. “There is a growing stop Ange’ (Angela Rayner) mood because we do not think she would win an election. “An MP further to the left said that Rayner, the former deputy leader, was “compromised” by her tax affairs and by “taking up lucrative speaking engagements”.Meanwhile, a minister drew a lesson from Labour’s Scottish leader Anas Sarwar’s call for Sir Keir’s resignation in February: it could have fired the starting gun on a leadership contest, but culminated in declarations of loyalty from ministers. “What it showed was that neither Wes nor Angie was ready for it. “I was waiting for a phone call (from Steeting’s team) but it never came,” said they. And a Labour figure with a career that can be traced to the Blair years said people were angry after days of damaging headlines regarding Lord Mandelson. “We will tank at the elections. We are back to where we were just a week earlier. There is no obvious candidate and no easy way to remove a leader. “Beyond The BubbleHowever, MPs are still talking about a potential candidate. One former frontbencher said: “The solution is not in Westminster.” They were talking about Andy Burnham who was prevented from standing for Westminster at the Gorton and Denton By-Election earlier this year. “He’s the kind of person that everyone can live with, except Wes Streeting. “Another possible Burnham supporter seemed more pessimistic. He acknowledged that Greater Manchester Mayor would need to be in a “very secure seat” due to Labour’s polling and that a supporting MP would have to step down. Burnham also needed the approval of Labour’s ruling body, National Executive. The composition of the National Executive could change in his favor this summer. Sir Keir would have been convinced by the analysis of one MP that he had acted correctly – in terms of his political survival – to veto the mayor’s candidature. Some MPs were more fatalistic. “If Andy was back (in Westminster), things would have moved sooner,” they said. A minister told us that Starmer was not popular. I think we’re going to lose the next elections. I haven’t heard any serious arguments from any candidate about how to achieve this in such a short time. “Locked In The CabinetSome are looking at those closest to Sir Keir for the defenestration. Just as Conservative PM Margaret Thatcher, was told to leave more than 30 years ago. Some MPs think that ministers are taking a ‘everyone is for themselves’ attitude. One minister said that they were “on manoeuvres”. It has not gone unnoticed how Ed Miliband dissociated himself from the decision of appointing Lord Mandelson as the Washington job. And that Foreign Secretary Yvette cooper and Work and Pensions secretary Pat McFadden both criticized attempts by No. 10 to sound out a ambassadorial role in 2025 for Matthew (now Lady) Doyle – who is departing as head of communications. They are looking six months ahead and saying they would like to still be in the Cabinet. Someone else’s Cabinet. “An MP who is close to Miliband offered a more straightforward answer. “Ed said: I’m telling you the truth. “There was talk about the PM regaining initiative after the may elections, not only with a new legislation programme in the King’s Speech but also by having a reshuffle. This feels more risky than it did prior to the latest Mandelson disclosures. Disgruntled former ministers can be dangerous. Under the radar, the Prime Minister has been working to shore up his reputation with sceptical members of parliament. There have been receptions held for backbenchers including trips to Chequers – his grace and favour country pile. He is currently meeting with regional groups of lawmakers and internal campaign groups. He met with the Red Wall group on Wednesday to discuss how to extend the industrial strategy of the party to small and medium-sized towns. Some MPs who felt ignored by No 10 now say that they have a proper relationship with them after Morgan McSweeney’s departure as chief of staff. Ex-official says No 10 had a ‘dismissive’ attitude to Mandelson vetting. What we know about Mandelson vetting and clearance. How will the loss of seats make you feel after the elections next month? What will angry ex councillors say to their MPs. Some believe that the emotional impact of election defeats could be too great to bear. “People believe they are prepared, but there’s a chance that things will go crazy this weekend.” One MP said that everything could collapse very quickly. Another said: “The PLP’s like a tinderbox, it might just spark in May.” “But an MP told me about the fears of a PM-loyal colleague: “They told me, “I hope the PLP does not do anything rash”. “I said that there was no chance the PLP would ever do anything rash.
