Netflix To Adapt Hannah Grace’s ‘Icebreaker’ For TV

Netflix is getting into the hockey romance genre.
The streamer ordered a series adaptation of Hannah Grace’s best-selling novel Icebreaker, and Alex Cooper is helping make it happen. The Unwell chief will produce the series, with Amanda Lasher set as showrunner. Jade Bartlett developed and wrote the pilot and will write the series with Lasher.
Icebreaker follows Anastasia Allen, a competitive figure skater with her eyes on Olympic gold. Everything changes when Anastasia is forced to share the rink with Nate Hawkins, a hockey player who’s equally determined to go pro. Despite the cold temperatures on the ice, the heat between Anastasia and Nate is undeniable. Is ambition or attraction the sharper blade?
The book is the first in a trilogy, titled Maple Hills, and spent 70 weeks atop the New York Times bestseller list.
“I have been a fan of steamy YA since the 7th grade; reading Judy Blume stealthily hidden behind a text book,” Lasher said in a statement . “I love this genre, and it’s been a joy working with Jade, the team at Unwell and Netflix to bring Hannah Grace’s beloved Icebreaker novel to the screen.”
The series is executive produced by Unwell Productions, from Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan and Meena Lefevre. Lasher and Bartlett both are writers and executive producers.
Added Bartlett: “It’s been such a joy to play in Hannah Grace’s world of Icebreaker; a story filled with ambitious, talented, and undeniably sexy characters. But the real special sauce is that, above all, they are good, deeply compassionate people….and we cannot get enough of them. Hannah has created the kind of world you want to live in, and Amanda and I are having an absolute romp with our incredible teams at Unwell and Netflix bringing this cherished story to the screen.”

Dead by Daylight 10th Anniversary Recap: Announcements & Celebrations

Dead by Daylight’s 10th Anniversary festivities took place Sunday, June 14 in the Old Port of Montreal – and what a celebration it was.
What began in the morning with a full-fledged fan-event packed with panels, meet-and-greets, art expos, and tons of cosplay, wrapped long after the sun went down with an anniversary broadcast for the ages.
For everyone that couldn’t make it, we missed you. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with a recap of all the most memorable moments, biggest reveals, and news that emerged from the day.
A Decade Together
If time flies when you’re having fun, it’s no wonder the last 10 years have blown by in the blink of an eye.
Through every Trial, every Chapter, and every unforgettable moment, one thing has remained constant: our appreciation for the best community in gaming. Your passion, creativity, and support have shaped Dead by Daylight into what it is today, and for that, we can’t thank you enough.
Ahead of all the big reveals and announcements of the Anniversary Broadcast, it was our goal to bring everyone together for a special day of celebration dedicated to our players. Here’s a look back at a few of the highlights.
Fogbound Festivities
One of the defining traits of Dead by Daylight has always been the close relationship between our team and community. Throughout the day, members of the dev team took to the stage for a series of panels that explored different aspects of the game, offered BTS insights, and answered fan questions. Topics ranged from licensed Chapters to visual design, animation, music, and more, giving players a glimpse at a decade’s worth of creative process.
It wouldn’t be a Dead by Daylight celebration without some wicked cosplay, and the community didn’t disappoint. The Cosplay Showcase featured dozens of talented fans bringing the game’s iconic characters to life with incredible attention to detail, craftsmanship, and creativity on full display.
Spread throughout the venue, countless pieces of Dead by Daylight art invited attendees to take a journey through the game’s visual history. With everything from early concepts, to incredible fan-created works on full display, the exhibit offered a unique look at how Dead by Daylight’s visual language has evolved over the last 10 years.
Dead by Daylight Anniversary Livestream
As the sun began to set over Montreal’s Old Port, the celebrations shifted to the main stage where the team offered a heartfelt welcome to those in attendance. Here’s everything that was revealed over the course of the show:
Movie Update
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came early in the form of an update for the upcoming Dead by Daylight movie. Behaviour VP and Producer on the film, Stephen Mulrooney welcomed fellow Producer and Atomic Blumhouse founder Jason Blum to the stage to discuss the project’s progress and their shared excitement around bringing Dead by Daylight to the big screen.
The pair also took the opportunity to reveal that a director had officially been chosen to helm the project. Fans were introduced to Thordur Palsson, director of The Damned, who spoke about his connection to Dead by Daylight and offered some insight about what the world of The Entity will look like through this lens.
It was also revealed that the film will be pulling from multiple corners of the Dead by Daylight universe. It will include locations like the Macmillan Estate and Greenville, while featuring a cast of characters that blends classic Survivors with newer fan favorites, and a Killer who feels like they were made for the big screen.
New Survivor Shane Wiigwaas
Following the release of Jason on June 16th, the team also announced the release of a new original Survivor on June 25th as part of a Chapter titled Dead by Daylight: The Life Road. An Anishinaabe defense attorney whose search for answers leads him into The Fog, Shane will become the game’s first indigenous Survivor. He arrives with a trio of new Perks designed to support and protect his fellow Survivors.
Chorus of Sin Release Reveal
Dead by Daylight’s first ever community-created Chapter, Chorus of Sin, also received an update. The upcoming release features The Judgement, a terrifying divine force – and thematic first for the game – bent on cleansing sin, and Aurora, a spiritual scientist from a world left in ruin. The Chapter was revealed to be in its final stages of production with an announced release date of August 25th.
The Casting of Frank Stone Chapter
Fans of The Casting of Frank Stone were also treated to a surprise announcement. The team revealed that Stone’s story will continue in Dead by Daylight as its own full Chapter arriving in March of 2027. Though specifics are still being kept under wraps, players can look forward to more details as Frank Stone’s arrival in The Fog creeps ever closer.
Let’s Go to The Mall
The Anniversary Broadcast also unveiled a brand-new Map heading to The Entity’s Realm in Year 11: The Mall. Equal parts, nostalgic, comforting, and unsettling, this sprawling retail hub will seek to transform a familiar location into a liminal nightmare filled with strange shops, long empty hallways, and plenty of the places for Killers and Survivors to come face to face in unique ways.
The Black Banquet Begins
The end of the Twisted Masquerade marks the beginning of a new tradition in The Fog. The Black Banquet is taking over as Dead by Daylight’s new Anniversary Event, and as the name would suggest, food plays a major role this time out. Players will be challenged to gather ingredients, build a twisted feast, and unleash powerful modifiers that affect the Trial. A deliciously devious way to celebrate 10 years of Dead by Daylight, beginning June 25th.
Upcoming Collections
What’s an Anniversary without a look at Dead by Daylight’s upcoming slate of cosmetics? The team showcased an amazing lineup, blending original creations, community-designed Outfits, music collabs, and some surprise fan-favorite franchises. Upcoming Collections and Outfits included:
• The Sunflesh Collection, a new desert-inspired Collection arriving with one of the next Rifts.
• A new wave of community-created Outfits designed in collaboration with players.
• An Iron Maiden Eddie Legendary Outfit for The Huntress.
• An Ice Nine Kills Collection arriving June 16, alongside the world premiere of a brand-new Dead by Daylight-themed music video from the band.
• An expansion for The Walking Dead Collection featuring Glenn and Negan as Legendary Outfits for Rick.
• New SILENT HILL cosmetics inspired by SILENT HILL f and their iconic Bubble Head Nurse.
• A Diablo Collection set to bring new demonic forces to The Fog this October.
• The long-awaited Scooby-Doo Collection, one of the community’s most requested collaborations, arriving later this year.
The Future of Dead by Daylight
One of the show’s most anticipated segments pulled back the curtain on what the team has cooking for the next 10 years of Dead by Daylight, paving the way for a very foggy future. Instead of starting over with a much-speculated sequel, the game will be doubling down on evolving its current foundation, created alongside the community over the past decade.
Dead by Daylight boldly unveiled the most significant initiative in the game’s history, including a massive visual overhaul targeted for 2027. Featuring upgraded character models, more expressive facial animations, enhanced environments, dynamic weather, improved audio, voice lines for all original characters, and a deeper Entity presence, the update promises to make every Trial more visceral and atmospheric than ever before.
In a huge surprise to fans, it was also announced that curated modding is coming to Dead by Daylight. Players will be handed a full suite of modding tools, along with the opportunity to create and share their own Maps, Modes and everything in between with the community. The crowd also got an early look at a new 1v1 Mode and a prototype Zombie Mode as the team teased a slew of exciting new game modes currently being explored.
Look out for an upcoming Livestream dedicated to diving deeper on all these topics in the very near future.
A Terrifying Finale
Finally, as has become Dead by Daylight Anniversary tradition, the show made sure to wrap with one last jaw-dropping reveal. Capping things off, David Howard Thornton made a dramatic entrance in full Art the Clown makeup and costume to announce (silently, of course) that Terrified is officially coming to Dead by Daylight.
We hope you had a blast catching up on everything announced during our 10th Anniversary Broadcast. Keep an eye out for more info on every reveal in the coming days and months as we officially embark on the next 10 Years of Dead by Daylight!

The Hunt for Gollum’

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum has added another big star to its roster: Anya Taylor-Joy. According to a Warner Bros. social media announcement, she’ll be playing Seren—a character that was seemingly created just for the Andy Serkis film, much like the characters being played by Kate Winslet and Leo Woodall.
Given the cape and bow and arrow glimpsed in that teaser image—not to mention that Taylor-Joy already has long, platinum blonde hair and a certain ethereal quality about her—we can assume that Seren is an elf. Typecasting? Maybe. But Taylor-Joy has more than proved her ability as an action star, thanks to films like Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She’s also a natural fit amid fantastical settings, something we’ll see even more of when Dune: Part Three arrives later this year.
Her castmates in The Hunt for Gollum include Andy Serkis, who directs and will be playing Gollum and Sméagol. Other returning faces include Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, and Lee Pace as Thranduil. Middle-earth newcomer Jamie Dornan is stepping in for Viggo Mortensen as Strider, aka Aragorn.
Then, as mentioned, we’ll meet Kate Winslet as Marigol and Leo Woodall as Halvard.
Are you excited to see Taylor-Joy speaking Elvish? The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum opens December 17, 2027.

West Wilson Dropped From ‘Summer House’ After Amanda Batula Romance Confirmed

West Wilson’s time on Summer House has officially come to an end.
On Monday, June 15, TMZ confirmed that Wilson, 31, would not be returning for season 11 of the Bravo reality series. A source told the outlet that the Missouri native was not asked to return but added that doesn’t mean fans won’t see him at all, as it’s possible Wilson will show up in a cameo.
Wilson and Amanda Batula rocked the Bravosphere earlier this year after confirming they were in a relationship in March after weeks of rumors swirling about the two being romantically involved.
“Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care,” the pair wrote in a joint statement shared at the time, per In Touch. “As our feelings evolved, we wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling. We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless. We truly appreciate the understanding and respect as we navigate this.”
Wilson had previously dated fellow Summer House star Ciara Miller while Batula, 33, was married to Kyle Cooke for four years before announcing their split in January.
Batula and Wilson’s relationship shattered friendships within the cast, and many have wondered who will return for the upcoming season of the show. Bravo has yet to officially confirm who will be a part of the cast in season 11, which begins filming in July.

Sounds Like Tyra Banks Regrets That ANTM Docuseries

Tyra Banks really didn’t like that Netflix docuseries about American’s Next Top Model. On Saturday, she filed a defamation lawsuit alleging the team behind Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model — the tell-all docuseries that came out in Netflix earlier this year — edited her interview to present a false narrative about the show she created and hosted.
In the suit — which names Netflix, directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy, and production company EverWonder Studio as defendants — Banks claims the docuseries’ team left out the parts of the interview where she took responsibility for some of the show’s most controversial moments. According to Banks, she spoke with producers for three and a half hours only for them to edit her sound bites deceptively in the final cut.
“Of the hours of answers Ms. Banks provided, the producers used only about 16 minutes,” the lawsuit reads. “The producers used what could be stripped of context and reassembled to support a false and defamatory narrative unrelated to what she actually expressed.”
Banks’s main claims center around the allegations made by contestant Shandi Sullivan, who appeared in the show’s Cycle 2 in 2004. During an episode titled “The Girl Who Cheated,” ANTM infamously broadcast footage of Sullivan — a then-21-year-old aspiring model from Missouri — getting blackout drunk during a cast trip to Milan, having sex with a male model, and tearfully confessing the incident to her boyfriend back home. Later, Banks has an on-camera chat with the contestants about the issue of cheating on your romantic partners. In Reality Check, Sullivan said that, while she viewed the encounter as her being unfaithful at the time, she has since come to understand she was too drunk to consent to any sexual activity. She added that she wishes someone in the production had intervened to help her that night.
Banks was asked about the incident in the docuseries, which showed her responding, “I do remember her story. It’s a little difficult for me to talk about production because I’m … that’s not my territory.” In her lawsuit, however, she claims she said way more and that producers used “selective editing, deliberate omission, and surgical manipulation of continuous footage” to present a false narrative in which she supposedly allowed Sullivan to be sexually assaulted on the show and then exploited her trauma for the sake of ratings.
Banks also took issue with the editors’ choice to cut to black at the end of the first episode after asking her about Sullivan, alleging that the cliffhanger implied “Tyra Banks cannot even remember the story of the woman who was assaulted on her show.” The supermodel also claims that she wasn’t informed that Sullivan now described the incident as an assault and therefore she approached questions about it as if it was a cheating scandal.
According to Banks’s suit, she has issues with “other misrepresentations” in the series — “some petty, some more serious” — that she’s choosing not to challenge. But, the complaint says, the suggestion that she seemingly allowed the assault to happen is “a fabrication so grave, constructed so deliberately, that it overwhelms everything else … Every other conversation about ANTM’s legacy — including the candid reflection Ms. Banks came prepared to have — is now drowned out by an accusation she was never given the chance to answer.”
Banks alleges that she didn’t have access to the docuseries until a day before its premiere and that producers denied her requests to review the unedited interview footage. In addition to her defamation claims, she is also suing breach of contract and false endorsement. Banks is seeking unspecified damages to be determined by a jury trial.
The Cut has reached out to Banks, Netflix, and EverWonder Studio for comment and will update this story if we hear back.
