IPL 2026 final: Virat Kohlis unbeaten 75 helps RCB beat Gujarat Titans to secure back-to-back titles

IPL 2026 final: Virat Kohlis unbeaten 75 helps RCB beat Gujarat Titans to secure back-to-back titles

The stadium was filled with shirts featuring Kohli’s number and his name, the former India Ctain delivered on the largest stage yet again. He’ll be 38 this year, but a player known for his ability in chases showed he has plenty of energy left as he clocked up his fastest IPL 50. Kohli and Venkatesh, the other opener, both of whom scored 32 runs in 16 balls, set RCB off to a great start with a 62-run first wicket stand. Mohammed Siraj, who dismissed Iyer before Kagiso Raibada took out Devdutt Padikkal, gave Gujarat the opening. Rashid Khan was able to swing the momentum in favor of the Titans by claiming two scalps in one over. Rajat Padikkal, who had been ctain for 15 runs, and Krunal Pandya were soon after. Kohli, who will retire from T20 Internationals after the World Cup in 2024, was stoic as he shared an important 41-run partnership to steady the chase. David scored 24 runs before leaving, so Kohli and Jitesh Sharma were left to lead RCB towards victory. Kohli gave the crowd the iconic finish they wanted as he smashed Arshad khan over the long-on line for six. “Such a demand is made by the sport of today. Kohli, who won the player of the match award, said that these young players are always pushing him to improve his game. It’s exciting because it gives me something to work toward. It’s exciting to me that I am improving. I like to find out where I can do better.

England vs India: Freya Kemp breathes life into World Cup preparations to secure win in Bristol

England vs India: Freya Kemp breathes life into World Cup preparations to secure win in Bristol

Freya Kemp gave England’s T20 World Cup preparations a boost as they won the series with India by 26 runs in Bristol. After being outclassed on Thursday in the T20 opener, England’s batsmen were pedestrian until Kemp scored 24 off the last over and finished 39 not out after 13 balls. This took England to 168-5 – a total they had thought was beyond them only two overs before. India, however, were still in a good position at 70-1 after the ninth over. Kemp, just back from a more than year-long injury ban, was able to make a comeback by having Smriti Mandhana, a classy batswoman, caught at deep, square leg. Her wicket ignited a fightback for England’s Bowlers, who first halted India’s scoring via Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone before claiming a flurry. Kemp’s slower ball caught Jemimah Rogers after India dismissed Yastika Bahatia on 33 runs from 36 balls. It was the first women’s T20 match between major nations to use this tactic. India fell to 142-9 in the last two overs after India needed 39. Instead of facing a dead-rubber after another demoralising loss, they can now win the series in a final in Taunton on Monday.
