Any statement made by the US President can have a profound impact on markets. Teams of traders, as well as automated computer programs, monitor him to execute trades in seconds.
Trump Media & Technology Group wants to start charging for the market-moving data that is published on Truth Social. The paid service gives Wall Street firms, institutional investors and other interested parties the fastest access to social media’s influential accounts.
TMTG did not say directly that the service included the account of President Obama, but it is fair to assume, with 13 million followers – the largest on the website – that his posts are among the most, if they are not the most, influential.
The move, however, has raised a number of ethical and legal concerns, such as whether or not it’s right for a family-owned company, in which the president is the largest shareholder, to benefit from the public comments he makes.
Truth API is the service that TMTG has launched. This is a data feed which provides access in real time to the posts from “highest ranking Truth Social accounts” within “milliseconds”.
It was expected that the service would be available to institution customers by 1 August. According to The Financial Times, customers may be charged up to $100,000 per month for high-speed internet access. However, TMTG did not confirm this figure.
Although anyone can use the service, TMTG says that it’s primarily designed for high-frequency trading and algorithmic firms – the ones “most impacted” by a delayed information.
Financial trading is fully automated for these companies. Charles Schwab says that electronic systems that use algorithms can buy and sell at much greater speeds and scales than people. The investment bank claims that if you blink, it will be too late.
It adds that “Such systems often are designed to generate a small profit per transaction but, through their sheer speed and quantity, can produce large returns for the firms.”
Some have speculated that insider trading could occur since the announcement of Truth API. This practice is illegal and involves making bets or market trades on the basis of information not made available to other people.
Richard Painter (former chief ethics attorney to George W Bush) told BBC that even if Trump doesn’t trade on US government info, he could still be held liable under the “tipper-tippee” liability of insider trading laws.
Painter said that if I give someone information I don’t have permission to use, but they pay me and then trade it, even though I know that they will trade. I also commit insider trading.
Painter claims that the law will only be applicable to specific subject matter and possible posts such as the President’s intentions regarding tariffs, wars, or US policy.
He says, “If I was commissioner of the SEC I would threaten to quit unless they stopped this plan and promised that there will be no posts that are related to US government affairs.”
The service has been criticised by political opponents of President Trump. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff and others have asked the US Securities regulator if they will conduct an investigation to determine if Truth API violates the law.
In response to the SEC letter, TMTG’s spokesperson said that Senate Democrats continue to mischaracterise Truth API, either because of their ideological opposition to markets, or due to a lack of understanding the difference between public and private information -or, very possibly both.
Joe Saluzzi is the co-founder and CEO of Themis Trading. He points out, however, that other news organizations, data providers, and stock exchanges operate services similar to TMTG. This, he says, provides a precedent for TMTG.
In their letter, Warren and Schiff stated that “this appears to be a shocking abuse of his office to benefit himself. This undermines the everyday investor and integrity of our market while enriching Wall Street insiders and others wealthy individuals.”
The service has not been advertised.
Saluzzi, from Themis Trading, told BBC that Truth API is “worthless” for trading firms like his, who do not already have complex systems in place to execute transactions “at nanosecond level quickly”.
High-frequency traders (HFTs), he says, are likely to be the first ones signing up. Not only will they be motivated by the potential for money, but because “if I do not sign up, someone else will”.

You’d be a little worried if you were an astronaut waiting in the rocket to launch into space. A sturdy vehicle that is reliable and strong would carry you safely to the safety of the ship if there are any problems with the launch. The task of rescue is normally performed by heavily armored personnel carriers, but the Cybertruck will perform this duty for the SpaceX Crew-13 flight. This vehicle has undergone 11 NHTSA campaigns.
It is essential to make a quick exit from the launchpad if something goes wrong. However, given that rockets can be destructive, any vehicle used to rescue astronauts must also be strong.
NASA employs Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) for this purpose. According to the agency, these vehicles have armor so thick and heavy that their doors weigh 600 pounds each. They sound like a bank. Even if the vehicles are not moving, their armor can act as a safe haven.
The four astronauts on SpaceX Crew-13 will have their safety in the Cybertruck’s hands. Richard Jones, NASA’s Richard Jones stated that NASA does not have to arrange an MRAP or its crew in order for them to launch. This avoids resource conflicts, he said. SpaceX was prepping to launch Crew-12 while NASA prepared a launch for Artemis II.
SpaceX uses Cybertrucks for its own launches. Jones acknowledged that these vehicles were faster than MRAPs at moving astronauts away from danger. It’s also much easier to operate them while wearing gloves.
Cybertrucks aren’t as durable as MRAPs. Elon Musk claimed that the irs Armor Glass was able to withstand baseball-sized hail. However, the on-stage demonstration in which the metal ball broke a glass didn’t instill confidence. Musk then said the sledgehammer used in an earlier demonstration weakened the window. Jones stated that the Cybertruck had not been modified.
Cybertruck was the subject of 11 different US NHTSA Safety-Recall Campaigns. These campaigns were prompted by a number of factors, including an accelerator pedal which could get stuck, wheels that can separate and a drive-inverter that fails. None are things you want to encounter while trying to flee an exploding missile.
Crew-13 is comprised of NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins, Luke Delaney and Joshua Kutryk as well as Roscosmos’ Sergey Teteryatnikov and cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov. Launch will not take place before 12 September 2026.
It will be joining Expedition 75 on the ISS where they will carry out scientific research and demonstrate technology to help support future lunar and mars missions. Expedition 75’s research includes in-space manufacturing, AI- and augmented-reality-assisted health checks, and bioprinting human tissue.

Kansas’ biggest race isn’t for Congress, but rather for Governor, as both parties choose nominees for Laura Kelly who, after two consecutive terms, cannot be re-elected.
This open race offers Republicans an opportunity to take back the office of governor in a state Trump easily won in 2024. Kansas is a state that has elected governors of the opposing party for a very long time, so the race will be more competitive than the Republican bias might indicate. Trump has already spoken out, supporting Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson.
Masterson, along with Scott Schwab (Kansas Secretary of State), Vicki Schmidt (Insurance Commissioner) and others, is among seven Republicans who are running to be the nominee.
Schwab is now one of Masterson’s most prominent rivals. He gained national attention after breaking with Republicans over voting rights and defending Kansas elections from Trump’s allegations that the 2020 election had been stolen, while still maintaining his conservative records.
Curt Skoog, the mayor of Overland Park, is competing with state senators Ethan Corson (Democrat) and Cindy Holscher (Democrat).
One of Kansas’ few competitive political seats and a Republican target, the 3rd Congressional District will also be closely watched.
Sharice Davids is the sole Democrat of Kansas’ congressional delegation. She has won the district for four years in a row, despite a recent redistricting attempt to favor Republicans.
Davids is facing a major challenge by progressive Democrat Sarah Preu. She argues that Davis hasn’t gone far enough in regards to immigration. Preu’s campaign focuses on abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the US military assistance to Israel, and refusing corporate political action groups. She positions herself as a more progressive alternative than Davids.

In Missouri’s 1st Congressional district, which is heavily Democratic, former Rep. Cori Bush will face off against Wesley Bell, who used to be a member of a progressive House group known as The Squad. It promises to be a bitter rematch.
This will be the primary held in Missouri under the newly drawn congressional map. The Republican-led state approved the new map after Trump encouraged Republican-led states, including Missouri, to redistribute congressional boundaries with the hope of increasing the Republican House majority.
Bell defeated Bush by a narrow margin in 2024 to end the two-term tenure of progressive Black Lives Matter organizer in Congress. Both candidates are facing off in another race, which is a test to see if Democratic voters have shifted back toward more progressive candidates. This has been heightened by the growing criticism within the Democratic Party of Israel’s Gaza war.
Bush has framed the election as a battle against the Democratic Establishment and pro-Israel money. Bush was an early proponent of a Gaza trucfire, and is a fierce opponent of US military aid to Israel. Bell, a traditional Democrat who supports Israel but also argues that the US must press Israel to protect civilians and improve humanitarian conditions, has taken an approach more in line with the Democratic Party.
According to the Associated Press, the pro-Israel lobbying organization AIPAC has again spent millions on the race. In July, the group had invested $3.1m backing Bell, and against Bush, ahead of primary. Bell also received endorsements by Democratic leaders including the former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Gaza, however, is just one part of a larger story. The two candidates are both products of the Ferguson political movement, which arose in 2014 after the police killed Michael Brown. Voters will also consider their record on local and healthcare issues, as well as disaster relief. The district being a safe Democratic one, the winner of the primary election will have a clear advantage in the November elections.

Virginia’s Senate races are unlikely to determine control, but several congressional races in Virginia could have a major impact on the battle for the House.

The district, home to the largest US military community, has been a target for Democrats. In fact, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added Luria to their “Red to Blue”, a programme that provides additional support to the most competitive Democratic challengers.
Democrats are also defending Eugene Vindman, the representative of the 7th District. He won the district by less than three percentage points back in 2024. This makes the 7th District a top Republican target. Doug Ollivant is the former Iraq director at the National Security Council. Philip Harding and Rick Smithers, an army veteran and construction worker, are also running for the Republican nomination.
It is anticipated that the race for state senators will be less competitive. The three Republicans who are competing to take on Democratic Senator Mark Warner will be underdogs in the November election.
Warner is a well-known politician in Virginia. He was a governor of Virginia and a technology executive. Warner has been seeking his fourth term. He is the leading Democrat in the Senate Intelligence Committee. His campaign war chest has topped $25m. In 2020, he won reelection with a double-digit margin.
The Republican candidates who have run against him — including former US Army Major-General Bert Mizusawa and US Marine veteran David Williams, a former diplomat, all of whom are former federal employees — share the same conservative values, such as fiscal responsibility, national security, and shrinking federal government.
A House election tossup in Washington and the fight over Democratic foreign policy

Which race should you be watching? Washington’s 3rd Congressional District. Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez defends a crucial House battleground which could determine the control of that chamber in November.
Washington, a state in the northwest, uses a system of top-two primaries. This means that the candidates with the highest number of votes, regardless of their party affiliations, can advance to the November election.
Analysts call the race for a third term by Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in Washington’s Washington 3rd district, which Trump won in 2024. a coin flip.
John Braun is her strongest Republican opponent. He’s backed by Trump and wants to win the race where Republican Joe Kent twice failed. The former co-owner of an auto repair shop won this seat narrowly in 2022, and then held it in 2024, cultivating a working-class, independent image, and sometimes breaking away from the party. Smith is the senior member of House Armed Services Committee, and an outspoken supporter of US defense spending. He has represented his district in Washington for almost three decades, and he’s often criticised Democratic Party left-wingers.
Sawant is running on a platform of antiwar that explicitly includes the ending US weapons transfers to Israel. Chaudhry is a progressive candidate who ran against Smith again in 2024. He is focused on health care, immigrants’ communities, and cutting military spending.
The primary is a good way to gauge the internal struggle within the Democratic Party over Gaza, defense spending, and whether or not opposition to foreign policy establishments can be translated into votes.

We applied “Emotive geometry” from an aesthetic point of view. This approach creates a design with a balance that is more than just powerful. It connects users emotionally.

Galaxy Z Fold8 ultra is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold ever. How did it achieve its ultra-slim design?
Design concept for the new Galaxy Z Series is “Emotive slim” – an approach which focuses on not just reducing the thickness but also how thin it feels and looks in daily use.
The frame was slanted to allow for easier opening and a softer grip. The flat profile on the side was also reduced to give it a slimmer look.

Classic passports are designed to be easily carried, held with just one hand, and read in a single glance. Galaxy Z Fold8 was designed using the same ergonomic principles, extending comfort to all aspects of its layout.

A smartwatch is only valuable if it can be worn every day. Our approach for the new Galaxy Watch Series focused more on refinement than reinvention, maintaining our core design and enhancing details that are most important.
The cushion is at the heart of Galaxy Watch. It is more than just a design, as it defines the identity of the watch by striking a balance between precision and comfort. We merged the bezel, screen and cushion into one seamless design for Galaxy Watch Ultra2. This created a sleeker profile with a premium appearance. The buttons were also separated by a tactile and spatial separation, which made it easier for users to differentiate them.

The bands are a key component of wearability. We made the bands lighter, thinner, and more breathable for this new generation with an air pocket design.
We used more than a hundred million wrist measurements from real users and 10,000 simulations to test comfort and fit.
The balance of the watch and the band has been improved for a more stable fit on the wrist. Expanded band options allow users to show off their individual style.

Human-centred values have never been more relevant. It’s not enough to see design. You should feel it. To make design feel humane, designers must first understand how people work, live and use technology on a daily basis. This belief guided us in designing smartwatches and foldables.

MSI Introduces Pro MAX OLED 272UPJW12 Monitor with Inkjet Printed OLED Panel, Capped at 120Hz
The process of evaporation used to manufacture conventional OLED displays is called Fine Metal Mask (FMM). The metal masks on large displays can deform or sag, reducing the yield of the production and increasing costs. MSI chose Inkjet Printing, which is a totally different method.
Today, the company announced that it has introduced what they call “the World’s First 27-inch Inkjet-printed OLED Monitor”. This technology prints tiny drops of OLED directly on the substrate. The process is performed at a micron level, which usually leads to lower costs and better yields.
The monitor will usually have sharper text with less color fringing. This is one of its biggest benefits. The MSI PROMAX OLED 271UPJW12 doesn’t offer any features that are unique or compete with flagship OLED monitors. It still has decent specifications that are suitable for mid-range devices.
A 27-inch display with 4K resolution is included. It is limited to a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which works well for gaming but is not suitable for professional use. The monitor supports HDR True Black 500, has a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits, and is factory calibrated with Delta E > 2 for better color accuracy.
A KVM switch allows you to control two devices with a single peripheral. The PRO MAX is equipped with an anti-glare surface coating, which increases its scratch resistance by up to 2.5x.
MSI is yet to reveal any pricing or availability details.
