New Mexico lawmakers blast out subpoenas to Epstein investigation.

New Mexico lawmakers blast out subpoenas to Epstein investigation.

New Mexico New Mexico lawmakers are demanding documents to be provided by a variety of government and private organizations as the first step in their efforts to uncover the truth about what hpened in the state and whether anyone else should face criminal charges. The New Mexico Truth Commission, a committee that is known by the name of New Mexico Truth Commission, expects to issue subpoenas to 14 individuals this week. These include federal agencies, such as the U.S. Justice Department or FBI, and state and locally based law enforcement agencies. Epstein’s previous banks, Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase as well as the Santa Fe Institute (a nonprofit scientific research institute he supported) are expected to receive demands. The committee will forward the case if it finds that there is evidence that a criminal offense can be prosecuted. This could hpen in New Mexico, or anywhere else, according to members. In a speech at the New Mexico State Citol, Republican state representative Andrea Reeb explained that “the goal is to build a complete public record.” The bipartisan commission includes four members, including Reeb.

dating decades back, Epstein was never charged in New Mexico with any crimes.

Court testimony, lawsuits and records show that at least 10 women allege Epstein groomed, abused or molested them on the 10,000 acre ranch in the 1990s. Epstein, according to the women, abused them when they were teens. The ranch had never been searched by law enforcement until this year.

Epstein’s missed opportunities in New Mexico follow a pattern that began with an investigation by the state of Florida where he had been accused of paying girls underage for sex. He cut a deal in 2008 with federal and state prosecutors to avoid jail time. This also ended an investigation into his activities. He had to register in Florida and New York as a sex offenders, but not New Mexico. The Miami Herald had reported on the plea deal in The New York Times

. Federal investigators took the case up in 2019. Epstein’s New York prosecution largely ignored the New Mexico ranch. Ghislaine Maxiwell was charged after Epstein’s death in prison. Her trial only briefly addressed allegations made in New Mexico. She is currently in federal prison. The Justice Department released Epstein documents in January. These included new information on efforts to close down the state investigation for 2019 and allegations of crimes committed at the ranch. Of particular concern was the unsubstantiated claim that two bodies had been buried there. New Mexico has been enraged to try and find out the truth about what hpened at this ranch.

Commission member said that Monday their work would be centered on the experiences and stories of survivors. Marianna Anaya (Democrat, State Rep.) said that they will investigate not only allegations of sex-trafficking and financial crimes but also “medical and science crimes”. She did not elaborate. The commission’s work will be funded by the money collected from Epstein’s banks in settlement. It also plans to make changes to state law to address any gs that could have prevented authorities from prosecuting Epstein and others. Rachel Benavidez testified that Epstein had abused her. The commission also heard testimony from Virginia Giuffre’s family, one of Epstein’s most vocal victims who committed suicide last year. Benavidez stated that “we know Jeffrey Epstein couldn’t have acted alone.” “The tentacles are spread across academia, science and medicine, politics, finance, and government.” Benavidez said.

The complaint alleges that plegate attempted to open Carpenter’s door on May 23, 2026. According to a police detective’s declaration supporting the restraining orders, plegate hit the security guard when he confronted him. A Ring security camera shows a man who is identified in the restraining orders request as plegate at Carpenter’s door, being confronted with a flashlight by a guard. The court documents state that the security guard asked plegate to leave but he refused, saying that he was familiar with Carpenter and she had been expecting him. This claim, which the documents call “outrageous” and “entirely false,” is a claim that the documents have called. plegate, wrote the detective, “developed an irrational and disturbing fixation” on Carpenter. Carpenter wrote in her statement that after the man was arrested under suspicion of misdemeanor trespass, he returned to the area the following two days. Carpenter claimed that the man parked her Toyota Prius in a nearby area and reclined its seat so as to be harder to see, he did this while conducting what Carpenter called “deliberate harassment” and “surveillance”. He left after police responded, Carpenter said. Carpenter’s Security personnel then determined that the man had been parking around the neighborhood, and was “progressively getting closer” to Carpenter’s home since proximately ril 20. Carpenter stated in her declaration that the man’s delusional belief that he was familiar with me and expected by me indicates a dangerous delusion and irrational obsession. The restraining orders also cover Carpenter’s vehicle and workplace. plegate is prohibited from harassing, intimidating, threatening, contacting or stalking Carpenter. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office has been notified of the police department’s case regarding trespassing, as well as other allegations from the incident on May 23, so that it can decide if charges should be brought. This is what the detective said in his declaration to support a restraining order. The matter will be heard in court on June 18th, he stated.

Colombian Petro casts doubt on election that shows his favorite successor headed for runoff against Trump-supporting rival

Colombian Petro casts doubt on election that shows his favorite successor headed for runoff against Trump-supporting rival

Colombian outgoing President Petro cast doubt on Sunday regarding the country’s elections. His preferred candidate, Ivan Cepeda was heading to a next-month runoff against his right-wing opposition Abelardo de la Espriella. Subscribe to this story and read it ad free

Cepeda stated in a Bogota speech that “today we have secured 10,000,000 votes which were incorrectly counted in Colombia.” “There is an anomaly that we would like to verify.” Hernan Pennagos is the head of the office. He said

the preliminary count for this year’s congress elections was 99.8% precise – a historical high compared with final results. Human Rights Watch’s Americas Director Juanita Goebertus said

Colombia’s electoral system is “independent and trustworthy.”

De la Espriella will advance to the second round. She called on the international community, urging them to support the National Civil Registry. Sunday’s election results set the stage of a showdown that will pit Cepeda – a leftist senator who negotiated Colombia’s historic peace deal in 2016 – against de la Espriella – a lawyer, political outsider, who has declared himself an ally of U.S. president Donald Trump, and who has promised to crackdown crime. De la Espriella said, “We will defeat absolute tyranny,” after it was clear that he would be advancing to the runoff in June. Abelardo de la Espriella of the Defensores de la Patria has positioned himself to be an outsider, eager to mimic the heavy-handed tactic used by El Salvador in its war on gangs. Vanessa Romero / – via Paloma Valencia, a conservative Centro Democratico Party candidate, and former protegee of the right-wing former Colombian president Alvaro Uribe who pitched herself as an able centrist, was predicted to make it through to the second stage. She received less than 7% votes on Sunday, which knocked her out of contention.

Valencia voters, who opposed the left-wing mandate of Petro for a term limited, could support de la Espriella during the next round to decide the new leader. Valencia announced its support for de la Espriella during a Sunday news conference following the results. Sunday’s election is seen as an assessment of Petro’s policy. This comes ten years after Colombia signed the historic peace treaty with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia or FARC. This agreement gave Colombians hope that the country could break its vicious cycle between rebel groups, the government and the armed forces. But violence has returned since then. It reached a climax in the run-up to Sunday’s presidential election. The race has been plagued by armed attacks and drone strikes from criminal groups. Last June, presidential candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot dead at a rally. Petro, the first leftist President of the modern age and a former Marxist revolutionary, has been at odds with Trump on many occasions. He used these disputes to boost his reputation. The two leaders had a private meeting in the Oval Office on February 10, and Petro was given a baseball c with the words “Make America Great Again.” Trump signed a copy of his book, “The Art of the Deal,” and left the White House. Trump later said that he and Petro got along well. Some U.S. officials, however, have taken steps to highlight de la Espriella’s candidacy and suggest that voting for Cepeda would be a mistake. At an Atlantic Council event last week, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who is advising Trump on his policy towards Colombia, and who was present at Petro and Trump’s February meeting, stated that Colombia’s upcoming elections will be crucial and determine “where people are going decide which way they want to go.” Moreno announced that he will be the international observer of this week’s elections to ensure a safe and free election. Petro responded to Moreno’s words

, asking him to not make comments “different” from those that pertain to his mission as an electoral overseer. said in March Political statements regarding the citizenry’s vote are illegal interferences in the free decisions of the people,” Petro declared. Other U.S. legislators also weighed in before the election. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.), officially endorsed de la Espriella before the election. Moreno and others, including R. Florida legislator

have congratulated de la Espriella after the results were announced. said Sunday on X “Democracy has won today, but there is still work to be done.” Moreno said

that a runoff will take place in three weeks. “I’ll be there to watch the final rounds at the CNE request,” Moreno said.
